I felt bored out of my mind and then looking out the windshield I saw a welcome sign saying 'Welcome to Hollow Creek'.Then I started to think weird thoughts about the sign like is there a dried-up creek somewhere. I did think about asking dad about it, but he seems like he is getting secretive around me. Like I'm just part of the background that he sometimes remembers. It has been a whole eleven hours in awkward silence, no talking at all.
Then we made it into town with nice shop fronts and a nice-looking coffee shop I might try out sometime. Then I thought I saw a familiar face and I pressed my nose to the glass of my window to get a better look. It was, it was Shay my old girlfriend and she was in a weird uniform. I turned away to try to stop dad from going any further but disappeared when I checked again. I pouted and cross my arms sad, but also confused.
Then we made it to the residential area and it was old Victorian houses, then modern versions. we pulled up into the surprisingly new driveway and a beautiful gazebo right in a corner of the porch. It was no small thing, the porch was bigger than our last house. I saw a car in front of us and I'm sure that surprise was on my face.
Dad said, "get your stuff and get out, this is your stop".
I looked at him and it felt like a slap hit my cheek "w-what?".
"Get out and don't call me dad anymore, that is your father" he pointed at the car.
Then I saw a man at the front door of the house and I still couldn't understand what he is saying. I think I might be in shock, but it just seems unreal. Then who is Don? he played as a father this whole time, so what actually happened when I was born. I autopilot taking my backpack and jumping out of the moving truck, then he got out of here like a bat out of hell. so I was left there with a stranger and don't even know his name, so I bit my lip walking towards the man.
"I know this is hard, but I'm Silva Hollows and well I guess your biological dad," He says rubbing the back of his neck.
"I'm Ginger, guess I'll be living here for the rest of my life," I said looking down.
He sidestepped so I could walk past him into the house and I actually looked in my new life. My mouth dropped and the place looked better than most things, but I just felt out of place. I was wearing a zip-up hoodie, tank top, and jeans. I'm a bit chubby, so some of the clothes I wear are baggy to save space for me. He looked very well put together and I look like a troll compared to him.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
"your room is on the third floor which is the attic," He says to me.
"tell me if there are any boxes or spiders up there," I say hoping there aren't any.
"go up and see," he says smiling fatherly.
so I went up the stairs to my supposed attic room and I felt nervous the whole time. I walked to the second floor and opened a door, I could tell it was stairs going up to the third-floor attic. I took a deep breath and went up the stairs, then looked at my surroundings. It was clean, then I saw that there was ornately designed furniture and I felt weirdly homey feel standing here. I dropped to my knees overwhelmed by everything that has happened to me in such a short time.
I don't even feel like going back downstairs, so I get up from the floor. I plop onto the center of the bed and before I knew it I fell asleep, then the nightmares crept in. There was a monster and a skeleton, they both had a hand out for me to take their hand. Then I just walked towards the skeleton feeling comforted by its presence. So I took its hand and the skeleton melted away to show Silva in its place.
Then I sat up fast on the bed and looked around, he wasn't there to hold my hand. I got off the bed and took my shoes off, so I wouldn't make noise. I felt around for the wall to go downstairs and I was shocked to see him sleeping in a chair. I saw a man who I didn't see before and he looked over at me after putting a blanket on Silva. He put a finger to his lips and he guided me outside the house.
Then went to sit down at the Gazebo and it was still night. I looked up at the sky and said "so why did I have to go outside?".
"Well I'm sure you are smart, so you could figure out what is going on," the man says.
"All I know is I'm abandoned in a new place and I don't know anyone here," I say still looking at the starry sky.
Tears escape my eyes and I barely could see anything. I don't know who to trust in this town and here is another stranger to me. Then I heard grass get pressed under a boot, so I wipe away my tears and look to see who is there, but all I got was a shine of a flashlight. Then I heard a familiar voice say "Ginger? is that you?".
"well turn the light away, so I can tell who you are," I say using my hand to shield the light.
"what you don't remember your old girlfriend?" she says pointing the light to the ground.
There I saw my missing girlfriend, she looked a bit older and I don't mind it. She still has light brown hair and she still has that smile that I fell in love with. It must be fate that has pulled us back together in this town, so maybe I'm not alone here. As I thought she came up onto the porch and walked over to me. I was happy to get a close-up, I thought she wasn't really here.
So I ended up finding out that the man is Damon and he met Silva after the wife divorced him. Shay also gave me a reason why she was in the neighborhood, she is part of special forces with the police. I was unsure what she meant by special forces, she didn't explain it to me. I wish she did so I would be questioning what I am, but it's fine.
