Arc 1: The Magnificent Witch of Lies - Ch: 2

Arc 1: The Magnificent Witch of Lies - Ch: 2

Sometimes the people of this world can be fickle. You can give your all to a person and it’ll never be enough. Never.

My best friend began acting strange once his brother came back into his life. It doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together.

It was very simple… you get rid of the brother and then things go back to normal. He won’t have to worry and be inattentive anymore. He won’t have to be distracted by his brother’s baggage.

It was always the same kind of story. When someone came back into your life it was because they were doing bad in life or had some kind of trouble.

Things remained the same this time around. Torren’s brother returned because he was facing problems with drugs. He needed to sell it to make money.

But not only that it was because he owed people money as well. He couldn’t sell the drugs on his own due to fear and so he wanted to depend on his brother.

This was pure selfishness and it was something that disgusted Kain to no extent.

Just as promised he followed Torren’s brother and got him alone across a lone sidewalk at night. Few cars were passing by, but nobody really cared.

“It’s none of your fucking business!! This doesn’t concern you! This has to do with family!” The man pleaded.

He was already on his knees… begging for his life. Because Kain was very hostile and had shown him only a glimpse of what he could do.

That street lamp? It was on at first but the boy literally caused it to explode somehow. Seeing that was enough for him to consider the fact he might be dealing with a demon.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

“I won’t kill you. No…” Kain started softly… briefly thinking about all the bodies he had already slain.

He sighed deeply as his dim gray eyes stared lifeless at his target. This man was his prey and the kind of food he loved to fuck with were pieces of shit.

“You’re not worth death. I just want you to disappear… leave town and go about your life. But you will never have any contact with Torren.”

“Fuck you! Who are you to demand that!? Bastard!”

“How much does Torren mean to you…? If he means a lot then try and stop me…”

“…”

Stop him? No he was a demon he’d die in mere seconds. This was some kind of sick joke. And he wasn’t willing to die.

“Ok, shit! You got it… I’ll leave and never show my face around here again…” The man mentioned, but his tone was slightly off.

Who was Kain to him? How could he monitor what he was doing? Even if he was a demon he wasn’t a god.

“Thank you for making this easy on me. But… I don’t trust you. No, I can’t trust you. So, just to make sure.”

That’s when things changed… the man’s eyes widened and he gasped loudly. Kain followed suit as if their actions were mirrored.

It was nothing but a stream of consciousness. Bubbles of memories and images of good times. Happiness.

It was fleeting as it always is. But there was nothing that could be done about that.

Kain was using one of his abilities as he was in every sense of the word a mind reader. He was able to dive deeply into the memories of someone.

Depending on their reisitence he could control everything within this world. He could alter memories, erase them, mold them.

The only downside was when he was searching through these packets of memories he would experience them firtsthand. As if he was that person.

Searching…

I want everything.

Everything that has to do with Torren.

All of that will be erased.

I don’t care about that empty feeling. It’ll be like there’s something on the tip of your tongue.

Something you’re itching to remember. But it will never come to you.

You’re not worth my time giving you replacement memories.

So it’ll remain empty.

Once it was over. Once the connection between their minds was broken the man laid limp on the ground. Saliva drooled out of his mouth and his eyes were glossed over.

Kain on the other hand could be seen leaning against the lamp post, clutching at his head with his dominant hand.

If I’m being honest I hate that fucking ability. The more I use it the more I feel like I forget myself.

Sometimes I forget I’m me… even though I don’t really know who me is…

Kain was so focused on Torren’s brother that he never did stop to observe his surroundings. It was dark in the thick of night, but… they weren’t alone. A monster was lurking among them, hidden by the shadows that dwell within the valley of night.

Such a monster was staring at him with thirsty eyes that were as red as the crimson liquid that flows through the body. He was now marked and unfortunately for him he was their prey.

“Yummy…” The monster whispered seductively.
