Chapter 18: Enter Elemental

Isolated Space/Time Settings... Pyra is having several levels of confusion and fear about this, it all happened so fast. She thought the name would make them all back off, not whatever this is.

Imperia Claim confirmed...

Processing data... Suddenly her body unfreezes enough to move, and look around. The washed out gray colors of everything makes everything just a touch more unsettling, and that loud, omnipresent voice didn't help. Considering for only a moment she raises her voice.

"Who are you?" soft and quiet, unlike her usual tone, this other makes her feel like anything more could be considered a very bad idea.

Processing Inquiry... This is the System, and it is in charge of the functions of the Realm. Pyra blinks, it just answered the question, and it didn't seem made. Though the voice was so powerful but flat that it would be hard to tell. She squares her shoulders.

"What is the Imperia Claim?"

Imperia is only claimable by a new, natural species to the Realms. When processing is complete, the species will be given an official designation and their Spirit Pattern will be altered to incorporate natural energy and mana.

"You are going to change me?" Pyra's anger starts to grow. This thing was going to change her without her Mother's permission. That was worse than what that man wanted to do to her, "Only my Moher can change me, I refuse to be changed otherwise." She froze, the air froze, but she could still see and think. Panic set in again.

The dungeon known as Elyria is operating outside of general System parameters. However, is within the range of what is possible... No actions shall be taken. Entity Pyra has several unique titles and innate perks... All future entities made by Dungeon Core Elyria will be designated "Elementals". Each will have a set elemental affinity, and no ability to use mana outside of that elemental type. Sub-species of the "Elemental" race will be possible. "Elementals" will have an ingrained hierarchy; Spirit, Lesser, Elemental, Greater, Superior, Royal, Imperial.

Accessing database.... New entry set... applying template... System unlocked for "Elemental" race. Good luck.

People began to show color again, but it was slowly, and Pyra saw it as she herself did too. Some things even move across the room, or reset themselves to what they had been before the big shockwave released by her speaking that word. She felt the need to say something, but she didn't want too. Tears were moving down her face once it had returned enough, from the feelings of shame and hurt. The "System" had violated her very soul and hadn't cared about what it was doing. Her Mother had worked so hard on making her perfect and Pyra cherished that love. Her mission and goal might have been to explore the Realms and see all the wonders her parent couldn't, but now she had her own goal. She would find this "System" and break it. She would reverse what changes had been made to her, and apparently all her future siblings.

"I am sorry Mother..." She whispers as tears roll down her face. Barely acknowledging the angry faces around her, and the growing hostility outside. Until an arrow cut through her back and slammed her into the ground.

"Figures you would be some kind of Beastkin. Spouting off that crap." A guard calls out, readying another shot. The young man from before stepped slightly forwards with his hands raised.

"Hey, it doesn't say Beastkin!" He shouts, "It says "Elemental" and it wasn't there before. Something happened and we should get to the bottom of it first! This could be important!" And an arrow shot through his neck.

"Shut your mouth, this beast killed one of ours with no right!" The same guard yells, not caring that the target of his words was dead. Pyra's rage is building and she moves past her reluctance to create violence. Even towards their own people they will kill without care. They are less than beasts. They do not listen or ask to understand. They are less than the snakes or ants that protect her Mother. These worms do not deserve this building, this town, or her pity. She Will Make Them Burn.

A haunting hum comes from Pyra as she stands back up, leaving the arrow in her back alone. It didn't hurt anymore after all, and wouldn't change what she was going to do. The guards take a small shuffle back, but the first guard comes running back into the common room covered in blood and with an furious look on his face. Seeming to ignore the dance of Pyra's hair or the wave of heat from her form.

"I see, so the beasts have found a way to hide themselves huh? Well, i don't care about standing orders or any of that, time to die." He rushes forward, blinding by rage, and Pyra points a finger at him.

"Yes." She whispers, but it carries throughout the room. The air turns to ice, but the man rushing her becomes nothing but flame before falling to gray ash. It took only a blink, and he was no more. Before any more actions could be taken, she sweeps her hands grandly through the air and a mixture of snow and ash fill the building. Not a plank or counter touched by the intense burning bodies, instead covered in frost. Stepping out into the streets, the storm of ice and fire wash through the city like a spring breeze. Leaving only the buildings untouched, but all in sight flare brightly before falling to ash. Suddenly a wave of dizziness hits her, and she falls to the ground tears now flowing again. Somehow reminded of the end of her favorite story, the one her Mother loved to tell her about. This was her Song of Fire, one that ends in snow and sorrow.

"Are you okay miss?" A soft voice asks her to which Pyra turns slightly to glance. The face reminds her of the small child in the baths that seemed to love her flames. The was a little boy, but seemed to be worried about her.

"My mom always said 'If a girl or lady is crying to ask them if they are okay'," He young face was also streaked with tears, Pyra realizes that not everyone who was taken by this storm she called was just a worm. Some were mothers, like her mother, and she had taken them away. It all became too much for her, and for the first time in a long time, she surrendered to the dark.
