Bad Old Man In Power/Good Old Man In Power

-General Ross POV-

I would not call myself a good man because of the amount of suffering I have caused in my long career. Hell, I would say I caused more suffering than the people I am tasked to protect my country from but it's a burden I am willing to bear.

Dr. Banner's situation is...regrettable but it is a situation we can utilize to our advantage. A super soldier has the strength to maybe decimate a platoon but The Hulk can win a war by himself. A moving nuclear reactor is the power he has and 100 of those in my hands would be enough to keep any threat far or close from ever threatening peace again.

Stane was supposed to be the one who would deliver me the weapon to take down said Hulk I have even lent him that failed Gamma reactor with a whole lot of radiation issues, the reactor was supposed to be sent to Mars to be buried because was dangerous and what did Stane do with it, used it in a suit with poor shielding and fought some Vigilante.

The worst thing was he died, cutting away my backing in Stark Industries and the man Tony Stark is not someone I would want to work with. Unpredictable, no discipline, man whore of a man both him and his father. By the end of this night, I will have Dr.Banner in my palms, and by the end of this year, I will get a Nobel Peace Prize for being the man to deliver the greatest weapon in history.

Blonsky can handle him, I let him have the last two vials of Super Soldier Serum just for a chance to catch Banner. All I hope for is that the good soldier in him wins over his crushed ego.

-George Stacy-

It had to get worse, I had put everything on the line for a clean city, a haven in this godforsaken world, a step towards a drug-free society to show those cowardly commissioners, governors, and everyone who laughed and called it a ridiculous dream and I fulfilled that dream, I made this city go from the worst to best in terms of safety and where did that take me.

"Did you or did you not arrest many Government officials without going through the due procedure?" I look ahead at the judge as I bite the inside of my cheek, trying to make it sound much more normal than it is "The procedure was delayed due to technical difficulties from the number of arrests that day..." The opposition tries to intervene "That is proof that my client has been arrested without any charges and he is..." I yell over the Lawyers insufferable voice "..By the time those bastards were in Cuffs we had enough evidence to put them in jail for 80 years and the number has been ticking up since"

The taut nerves on my neck must have made them afraid for my health as the judge slammed his hammer yelling out for order before suggesting to me "Take a glass of water Mr.Stacy we still have many questions to follow through" I nod and grab a glass of water as he continues in a threatening tone "And....we aren't here for their trial Mr.Stacy, we are here for yours, so until this is over I suggest you focus on answering what was asked of you" I nod and take a sip to settle my nerves.

These court hearings were fine to sit through as after a long while the walls of this court are seeing the most amount of clear-cut cases in a century "The arrest of one Belford Hughes has led to the death of 9 good policemen, they have all been sent at once to arrest him in the middle of the night with no backup. What justification do you have for this lack of foresight?"

I almost flinched at the reminders of their deaths but the flashes of the cameras reminded me that weakness meant admitting fault in the eyes of the public and any fault in my hands meant death for my family's social standing in this city I powered through my guilt as I told them "The Belford Hughes home was supposed to be a meth house but it turned out it has been turned into a weapons stash ever since the vigilante Spiderman took down their leader out of commission".

The Opposition Lawyer asks me "So, you admit to having sent 19 officers to arrest a criminal with lacking information?" I look him in the eye and correct him "I had sent them with all the information we needed but unfortunately it was wrong information" The lawyer clicks his tongue a few times as he says out loud "Unfortunately indeed the deaths of the 9 officers, what will become of their families now?" I yelled out in frustration "They have pledged their lives, they took the oath and they died doing good"

The lawyer gives me an infuriating smile as he takes off his glasses and cleans them on his shirt "But those words would not feed their families would they?" I look away from him and focus on the ground as I answer "Their oaths meant the government will support their family because they died in the line of duty" The lawyer looks away and proclaims to the judge "And there it is your honor, evidence of his neglectful tenure" I frown as I wonder what game he was playing before my eyes widen as he continues "6 of the 9 dead were off-duty cops".

I look at the madman killing his future in this city just to hurt my position, denying actual good cops their pensions would get him lynched to death as soon as this information gets outside of this courtroom but before I could stop him he went ahead and continued "So they have not died in the line of duty, hence not eligible for the pension for their little act of vigilantism" the court went silent for naught but a moment before pandemonium erupted as everyone yelled over each other to defend the dead cops.

He looked at my surprised visage with a smile on his face before he addressed the jury loudly "' WHEN' Spiderman dies should we give his family a pension for salaries rendered, tell me what should we do then?" The jury went silent before one of the jury members yelled out "Give him the pension" I looked back and found that to be Officer Jeremy who nodded at me.

I nod back before the Lawyer turns to the Judge and e requests "I suggest the removal of Officer Jeremy Aegis from the jury because of his biased views on Vigilantism" The man turns back to question me once more "What do you think Officer Stacy, should we allow a pension for Vigilantes" I gulp as I tell him "No, we shouldn't" he looked like he got the answer he wanted so I continued before he can weave his stories "but 'IF' he dies the public will take money out of their own pockets to support his family"

The man just smiles and tells the judge "That's all your honor" Before he sits back down and before I knew it the court goes into recess. I approach the lawyer and tell him as straightforward as I can "You will have a lot more problem on your hands if you go after dead cops than going after me" the man takes a cigar out and takes a long drag before he says "What problems Officer?" I grimace as I tell him "you wouldn't face any problems, if you go after me instead" he doesn't take the branch I held out as he rejects my offer.

"Those cops weren't on duty the books in your Office Mr.Stacy" He blows the smoke in my face as he grins. Instead of punching his face in I try to reason with him one last time "But they were doing their duty all the same" He looks away before throwing the cigar out as he tells me "I don't care, Mr. Maine has asked me to make it hell for you until Monday" I look at the man in confusion and ask him "What about after that?"

He shrugs and I'm frustated about this man's motivations "What do you even get from this, the check mustn't be very big?" He laughs as he says "I just hate Vigilantes, ever since one killed my last boss and..." He pushed his color aside and showed me a red healing bullet wound "...gave me a scar so forgive me for not being lenient on some Vigilante cops" he looks to his left and I follow his gaze to find the flames going up in the middle of New York.

I watch another problem I have to deal with and think to myself 'fuck my life' as I run to get out of the court and deal with it but the lawyer stops me "If you leave it would contempt of court" I still and turn around as The lawyer walks off as the court bells ring signaling the end of recess.
