Yingyue was cursing herself. How in the fuck did she manage to forget all of her weapons? Every single one of them?
She had stabbed her dagger into the cliffside to slow her fall, desperately gripping the handle. Dirt scattered from the cliffside, hitting her veil and staining her green robes. Dammit, I have to wash it later! These are my fourth-favorite robes!
She looked and saw Murong Cheng face down on his chest below her. He didn’t seem to be moving so he was either in too much pain to move, unconscious, or dead. Yingyue pulled the dagger out of the cliffside and fell the rest of the way.
Thud! Her feet landed squarely on Murong Cheng’s back, a slight crack ringing out. He didn’t make a sound.
“Hey, you aren’t dead, are you?” Where’s the promised super durable cannon fodder who’s supposed to come back like a cockroach to bother the main character time and time again? Yingyue frowned slightly. She poked Murong Cheng on the back with her dagger. Still no movement. She reached out her hands and felt for his pulse. There wasn't one.
It seemed that he was truly dead. He most likely died from the shock.
To the real heiress of the Murong clan- Forgive me! I didn’t mean to mess up your main character settings. Who knew replacing you would lead to this? She angrily kicked his body. Useless son of a bitch. Can’t even play the role of a cannon fodder properly!
After kicking his body a few more times until she was satisfied, she looked at her surroundings.
The bottom of the cliff was dim, the only light coming from the open sky above. There were several bushes and trees nearby, and further away, there was a forest - most likely where the beasts lived. Yingyue stabbed her dagger into the cliffside dejectedly.
The dagger could not support her weight, not without cutting through the cliffside. Forget what I said. Stupid Second Senior Brother, your knives suck! Is there no off button for the sharpness? Murong Yingyue didn’t care how stupid her thoughts sounded. If she wanted to blame someone, then let her!
She pulled out the dagger and began to hack at the wall in anger. Hah! Stupid Second Senior Brother, I’ll just shorten it to SSSB. Or S3B. I'll call you that whenever you annoy me because it's a fitting name for you and not because the author gets lazy sometimes.
When she had cut out a good portion of the wall, she sat down on her butt, leaning against the wall, body fitting perfectly into the shape she had made with her dagger.
Looks like I have to wait this out. The seal is weakening, and it should be gone in a week. I don’t have to eat food since I can absorb energy from the surroundings, and the beasts here shouldn’t pose a threat.
Unlike Murong Cheng, her body was stronger than his. Her body was stronger since her spiritual energy was far more powerful than his, and every time she circulated it, it would strengthen her body much more than what his spiritual energy could do. It was also how she had run so quickly from them, even when she wasn’t a very physical person.
Of course, this conveniently didn't apply to her strength. She was only as strong as a normal person without her spiritual power. The strengthened body was only good for toughening the body, adding points to the defense and speed stats.
Yingyue thought it was useless. She could still feel pain, okay? It hurt! What was the point of still feeling the pain even if she wasn't actually injured?
She sighed and leaned back on the wall. Without warning, the wall crumbled and she fell through the hole.
Luckily it was not another drop. She was now laying on her back, covered in dirt. Her veil had nearly fallen off.
At least this is more original than falling off another cliff or into a cave. There’s only so many times something like that can be used. It has a very long recharge time, okay?
Now that she thought of it, wasn’t this also another “main character” scene? After falling to the bottom of a cliff, forced by the enemy to retreat, the injured main character would find some miraculous treasure or some secret place. They might even meet a mysterious person!
Meanwhile, a nearby man, hidden by an illusion spell touched his nose in slight embarrassment. It was the green-robed man from before. He had taken off his mask and had intended to go up to Yingyue and bother her, but he had just read her thoughts.
Wasn’t I just about to play the role of the mysterious person she was thinking about? Nevermind, I guess I’ll just meet her when she comes out of this area. It doesn’t count that way, right?
Of course, this man was naturally a handsome super beauty with peerless looks and silky long white hair and super amazing red eyes and very tall with super defined muscles and etc.
His dark seductive eyes narrowed, creating an overwhelming image of charm and sex and stuff. Basically, if a woman saw him, they would instantly fall for him, instantly becoming jealous of whoever was near him and scheming to make him fall in love with her.
It also wouldn't be strange for some men to be turned bent for this guy.
Yeah, he was a handsome man-god.
With such an introduction, how could he not be super attractive and strong?
Meanwhile, Yingyue had picked herself up from the ground, brushing herself off. She looked around curiously as she adjusted her veil.
Forget it, since I’m already here, I might as well enjoy the main character benefits.
The newly opened up cavern was very ornately decorated, having stone walls with various carvings and decorations. The carvings were of various mythological creatures, like dragons and phoenixes. In the middle of the wall to her right, there was a large, flashy gold altar.
Murong Yingyue nearly gagged at the design. Could it be that this was the sacred worship/sacrificial/residence room? She had never heard of a place like this in this world, so chances were, it probably was.
She scanned her surroundings once more. There were offering plates and empty containers made of jade, organized neatly on wooden tables and shelves. The entire place was very dusty, but somehow, the objects in the room were in perfect condition, without a single speck of dust on them.
Must be an overpowered protection formation. Too bad I can’t sense it without spiritual energy. It would be useful to know how to set up an array like that. I could preserve some objects or weapons with it.
She was currently wearing space ring that could perfectly preserve anything, but it was pitifully misused by Yingyue, being filled to the brim with nothing but fine delicacies, exotic fruit, and specialty drinks from various regions. There were even a couple of dishes made from recipes from Earth!
In short, this poor ring, which was coveted by many people for preserving rare medicinal ingredients and plants was used as food storage for Yingyue.
She walked around the room, running her hands over the walls. Where’s the secret hidden mechanism?
Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.
To her dismay, there was no reaction when she pressed against every single suspicious bump or dip in the wall.
Fine, then. Let’s check that altar!
After fifteen minutes, Yingyue stared dejectedly at the dusty floor of the room, looking at the tracks she had made from walking and crawling on the ground.
The altar didn’t have anything either!
She had looked over every single corner, but there was nothing to show that there was some hidden compartment.
Yingyue had a sudden thought. It can’t be that I need spiritual energy to activate this bullshit secret treasure’s hiding spot, right? She scowled. Fuck you, S3B! What if this is the changing locations type of secret spot that can only be encountered once in a thousand years? This is all your fault!
She went over to a nearby table, which was stacked with jade plates. She tried to pick one up.
I’ll just take all this crap lying around as compensation, then. They have to be worth something, right?
However, her face turned ugly. The damn plate wouldn’t even come off the table. Did she need spiritual energy for everything in this shithole?
She turned around, striding towards the exit of the room. Before she went out, she paused, then went back towards the altar. She took out the almost forgotten dagger and stuck it into the altar.
Yingyue twisted it, and a thin veneer of gold layer fell to the ground. She stared speechlessly. Weren’t special places like this supposed to be stupidly extravagant, filled to the brim with valuables?
How did she get stuck with this discount hidden area? Was she really just this unlucky? Anger surged through her.
She sliced up the altar in a few more spots, then spit on it.
That’s for making me crawl on the floor!
Was she taking out her anger on an inanimate object?
Yes.
Did she care?
Hell no.
Damn, I'm having a lot of anger issues today.
Satisfied, Murong Yingyue went out of the cave, and as expected, when she turned around, the room was gone. The stupid cliffside had even repaired itself. She sat back down on the ground.
Now she had to wait.
The still-there man in green pouted slightly in disappointment. It looked like the show was over. At least he would have time to think over what Yingyue had thought. What was a “main character?” And what about those “main character scenes?”
Even if he couldn’t figure it out, he could still follow her for longer and read her thoughts.
He had intended on making her his newest source of entertainment anyways.
...
After half a day of waiting, Yingyue was frustrated. It was cold at the bottom of the cliff, but she was too lazy to go find wood for a fire. She had intended to pass the time by trying out some of the dishes she had bought earlier and forgot to try. The dishes were still steaming hot inside the space ring.
But she had forgotten that her power was sealed! She couldn’t even take anything out of her space ring.
It feels like I’ve fallen from being a rich tycoon to a poor beggar. Things I could easily get before can’t even be touched by me anymore. These dumb items in this world are all discriminating me. Spiritual energy might as well be the currency of this world.
Shitty Second Senior Brother, you scammer! I’ve been robbed by you!
Murong Yingyue sighed. She had nothing to do. She was bored, and she didn’t feel like sleeping. What to do?
A howl echoed through the air. Many more cries followed it, and Yingyue heard rustling from the trees in the forest.
Her eyes lit up. Nice, I didn’t think a desperate life-or-death situation was part of this main character role’s starter pack! Sorry, little beasties, but you’re my entertainment for tonight!
The bottom of the cliff was pitch black, but Yingyue could still see since her spirit energy was only sealed in her, not taken or destroyed like what a tragic backstory/ former genius main character would be subjected to.
She could see the beasts very clearly through her veil, which had a formation on it to turn it into a one-way screen. The demon beasts were huge and furry, with large sharp canines. They ran quickly towards her on all fours, eager to kill and eat her dead body.
Even better! I hate dogs, so I'll enjoy beating up these dumb creatures.
Murong Yingyue ran towards them just as excitedly. One of the wolves pounced at her.
Crunch! In one smooth movement, she had slid the dagger out of her sleeve, into her left hand, and slammed her blade into the skull of the leading beast, producing a sickening sound.
She twirled her body to the right, her dagger’s point neatly slicing into the side of the next “dog,” who had been rushing towards her too fast, its momentum not allowing it to stop.
Blood sprayed everywhere, staining the ground and Yingyue’s clothes. She froze.
Fuck, how can I be so muddleheaded today? If I kill all these lazily designed beasts, won't I be soaked with blood? I'll never be able to clean this outfit. And I'll have to wear it for the rest of the week! I must've been truly too worked up from that shitty hidden place.
She ran to a nearby tree, hastily climbing up it. Once she was safe from the wolves, who had circled around her tree, she glanced at her sleeves. Luckily, the long wide sleeves of her robe had blocked most of the blood, with only some splatters on the bottom of the robe.
Murong Yingyue took the dagger and sliced off the sleeves and shortened the skirt of her robe. She tossed the bloodied material carelessly down, cursing slightly as it caught onto a lower branch.
Crap, don't tell me I'll have to smell that fucking dog's blood for the rest of the time.
At least she had managed to (mostly) save her robe. Even if it wasn't her favorite robe, her second-favorite robe, or even her third-favorite robe, it was still a favorite. Plus, she just made a summer dress.
I'm pretty ingenious, making myself a new dress out in the wilderness. It’s even very stylish, with a shorter hem and sleeveless. I should become a fashion designer.
After shamelessly praising herself, Yingyue decided to assess the situation.
She couldn't go down there, not if she wanted to keep her clothes clean. The wolves would probably not give up, since she killed two of their pack.
Yingyue decided to just wait it out. Not that she had much of a choice.
I'll train until I'm strong enough to defeat my Stinky Second Senior Brother. Let's see him try to seal my power again! I'll beat the crap out of him.
She spent the next several hours happily fantasizing about beating him up, smiling every time she thought of an amusing way to humiliate him.
I'll strip him naked and shove him in front of Third Senior Sister.
Or maybe seal his spiritual power and hang him upside from a tree with wolves snapping at him.
Maybe I can even rat him out to Master. Master loves me the most, so if he's heard what I've been through, he'll punish S3B for me, and I won't have to train and increase my strength.
Morning came, and Yingyue had not slept at all, too busy planning her revenge.
Suddenly, without warning, a deep very sexy voice spoke next to her ear.
“Do you need any help with your seal?”
“Ahhhh, Holy fuck, there's a ghost!”
Without thinking, Yingyue swept out her foot- nearly losing her balance in the process- and struck the man...
“Hey, you- argh...”
...in the crotch. The person was the green-robed man, who had jumped away in an attempt to get out of her attacking range. He hadn't thought to factor in the possibility of her kicking at him. She was on a narrow branch- trying to kick someone would be risky, as she could fall off.
In avoiding what would've been a blow to the chest, his jump changed it to a critical hit.
He fell back onto a branch, which cracked under the weight of his muscles.
As his body dropped, a hungry wolf rushed towards him.
Food! Food is raining down from the sky!
He fell unceremoniously onto the ground, crushing the unlucky wolf who had thought it could eat him. His long white hair fanned out perfectly onto the ground.
Murong Yingyue blinked innocently at the scene.
What the fuck just happened?
----------------------------------------
Bonus:
The unrevealed Second Senior Brother: Yingyue, you're too cruel! I only sealed your power for a week. I didn't shove you down that cliff, I didn't stop you from taking anything from the hidden spot, and I didn't send those wolves after you!
Murong Yingyue: But these all happened because you sealed my powers, did it not?
Second Senior Brother: Yes... But-!
Murong Yingyue: Then hold still! I'm not done beating you up yet. If you dare argue with me again, I'll really expose your pasty white body to Third Senior Sister!
The Third Senior Sister in seclusion: Achoo! ......Why do I feel like I'm about to be scarred for life?
