REINER - HIS HOME
“This place is your home?” I asked curiously.
“The entire island actually…” Reiner muttered.
My eyes widened in shock as I stared back and forth from his face to view outside. I wasn’t sure what I
had in mind regarding where Reiner came from and his home, but this clearly wasn’t it. Was he born
and raised here on this island?
Finally, the car came to a stop and the doors were jerked opened by armed men that were standing
outside. Reiner got out of the car, and I did the same. At least, guns were not being pointed at us
anymore. When I got out of the car, I came to face with an enormous mansion in the French riviera
style. I don’t want to sound like a snob but since Reiner was hired by my family as a butler, I never
imagined that his house would be as large as Lucien’s if not larger.
My eyes scanned the landscape of the large mansion and the vast garden in front of me before
returning to Reiner’s face. Reiner stood with the sun shining in his red hair as he also took in the sight
of his home. I wondered how long he had been away from home. Had he returned here at all since he
started working for the Rosenhalls?
So many questions plagued my mind and once again I was reminded that I knew very close to nothing
about Reiner and who he was. A small smile curved my lips, this was the perfect opportunity for me to
learn so much more about him. Better than asking him to tell me, I could see and feel things for myself
this time.
“We better head inside. The king is waiting for us,” the man said as he walked on ahead of us.
“The king?” I asked in confusion. Did this island have its own royal family?
“Don’t pay attention to it. It’s not a title, it’s my father’s nickname around here…” Reiner explained like it
was no big deal.
“We’re about to meet your father? What about your mother?” I asked as I walked excitedly at his side.
I could feel that Reiner seemed on edge, and he wasn’t in the mood to answer any of my questions. On
the other hand, I was so excited that I could hardly contain myself. I mean, I’m going to be meeting
Reiner’s parents. Doesn’t this seem a little like…the whole ‘meet the parents’ thing?
The interior of the house is very much as regal and luxurious as the exterior. If I wasn’t used to seeing
this stuff, my eyes would have popped out in awe. Learning point number one, Reiner came from a
very wealthy family. How wealthy or what they did to earn this much money, I didn’t know…yet.
Suddenly, the man leading us came to a stop in front of a very large wooden double door and I was
immediately reminded of the entrance of Lucien’s study. I bet Reiner’s father is waiting beyond this
door. I wished that I had a mirror so that I could at least check that I looked presentable. First
impressions do matter so…
“Try not to speak to him…” Reiner hissed a warning close to my ear.
I was about to turn to ask him why when the door opened, and Reiner dragged me after him inside.
The room was much larger than Lucien’s study and decorated with many large oil color paintings and
chandeliers. A large sofa set sat in the middle of the room and a very large worktable was locate to one
side.
The man that led us to the room didn’t enter with us. Once the door closed behind us, Reiner strode in
confidently and that was when I realized that there was a man and a woman seated on the sofa. The
man had the exact same hair color as Reiner and although he was seated, I could tell that he was a
very large man. Strong genes indeed, that man must be Reiner’s father. The woman next to him was
very beautiful even at her age and I had a feeling that I had seen her somewhere before, but I wasn’t Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
sure.
Reiner and I approached the sofa and with a nod from Reiner, I sat down next to him on the sofa
opposite his parents. I felt so nervous that I found it a little difficult to breath while my fast-beating heart
made me feel uncomfortable. This is definitely the classic ‘meet his parents’ situation that I’ve seen so
many times before in television series. What am I supposed to say?
“Welcome home,” the woman spoke up first before smiling our way.
Reiner’s father had a very stern look on his face, and he didn’t seem to be in a good mood. Lacking the
knowledge of the history between these two men, I had no idea how to react. Thinking back on
Reiner’s warning, I decided not to say anything and just smile politely.
“How rude of you not to introduce the girl that you’re with to us…” Reiner’s father said with a frown.
“Why do I need to introduce her? Didn’t you order for her to be brought here?” Reiner replied, clearly
dissatisfied.
“You go by Reiner now, right? I’m King, Reiner’s father and this is my wife,” the man introduced himself
before smiling a little at me.
“Hi hi. You can call me Queen,” the woman said cheerily.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Natalia…” I introduced myself politely.
I introduced myself before presenting them with my flawless smile while conveniently leaving out my
lastname. Since I’m here, perhaps it was just as Zak had said before that I won’t be a Rosenhall
anymore.
“Why did you have her brought here?” Reiner asked his father again.
“You know when I ordered the package, I never dreamt that my son would be the one to deliver it. Isn’t
all just a super big coincidence?” King said, feigning innocence.
The package…does he mean me? I thought Zak had arranged to send me here to be with Reiner, but I
never heard about Reiner’s father ordering me. Why is he even referring to me as a package?
“It’s fate, my dear…” Queen said in her sweet voice.
“Oh, yes…fate…” King said as he nodded in agreement.
