Hurting the Princess, such a thought would never come to pass to him. The foolish scientists and their concerns make him annoyed, but relaxing himself he could see the reasoning behind it. He’ll never hurt her though. Never. Removing the thought from his mind, he focuses on what comes next.
He doesn’t have a plan about what to do yet. He went back in time, but what now? Even if he did go back, he doesn’t have the strength to defeat the scientists and escape. Not yet anyways. All of his comrades are still in eggs and some are not even born yet. What could he do? Will he simply suffer the same fate as before? No! He won’t let that happen. Even right now history has changed.
In the past he wasn’t the first one to come out of the egg chamber. He could tell that much from his memories. If the future's not set in stone, that means he can still do something. If he learned anything from his life in the past, it’s that doing something is better than doing nothing. It’s how he escaped in the first place. Taking advantage of the dwarven invasion of the facility in the past, he escaped with his sisters and Queen after killing scientists and guards who blocked their path.
As he finished his thoughts, he entered the next chamber. Inside the chamber was a white room, much unlike the rooms before. The room has tiled flooring that was much softer to set on than the concrete flooring he walked in before. There was a high chance are that this room is also peeked in on by the scientists. In the middle of the room was a single egg.
The egg wasn’t white like that of the others but was silver. The hand drops him onto the floor before leaving. Behind him, the way is closed as the hand retreats inside. Immediately he walks to the egg. His sister, his Queen, his closest friend laid inside. Hesitatingly, he lifts his arms and lightly touches the egg. Suddenly a jolt comes to his body, no rather his soul.
He feels himself weakened and drops to his knees. Why? What happened? Looking back up at the egg, he sees it glows lightly before stopping. What did he do? He could only wonder and worry at his actions. Did it hurt her somehow? He tries to get up, but before he can the egg wiggles. Little by little, he can see something inside poking its way out.
Like instinct, he gets the strength to pull himself up and puts his mandible and claws to work, cutting and slowly and safely tearing away the egg’s shell. A few moments passed before he could tear enough to see something. First her mandibles, then her antennas, and finally… her face. She lacks the helmet shell that she grew later in life. Oh how beautiful she was. Everything on her was intact. Her eyes were uninjured like how it was in the past.
He continued to open her egg. He was unsure if she could see him, most likely not as he too was blind at first, but he certainly knew that she "saw" him. She moved in harmony with his own. Her arms eventually was freed themselves before the rest of her body. Everything on her was completely fine. Oh what joy it was to see her in full health.
In all of his memories of her, she was injured and misshaped. Her abdomen was deformed at birth because she was transported and dropped. Before she had escaped, she was often injected with many drugs and forced to birth many eggs. Her left eye was cut by the dwarf scientist for an “experiment” and was blinded for life. Words could not express the hatred he had for them, but that was not present here.

Here was a newly born Sister. She might not be the same as the one in the past, but he will protect her all the same. In fact, the final spell of his Queen surely must have been for this. For him to protect her this time. She gave him another chance and he won’t fail this time. As he freed her from the egg, she breathed her first full gulps of air. The air filled her lungs, but unlike her brother who came out with anger and curiosity, she was weak.
Exiting her egg even with help from him drew strength from her. She laid on her egg, tired. Her brother looked at her. He could tell that she was tired. Perhaps she was also hungry. He could not simply ask her if she was hungry though. She couldn’t speak or understand speech yet after all. To position her better, he used his several hands to guide and lift her down. She was still blind so she moved carefully and unsure of her surroundings. Sitting her down on the floor, he turned around to look for something to signal for food, perhaps a hand gesture. He knew the scientists were watching. They were always watching.
“Brother?”
Just as he turned around, he heard something. He turned back. She was looking at him.
“Sister? Are you there?”
Did she speak? There’s no one else here. No one else would call him Brother. But how? She shouldn’t know him…. unless she also came back to the past.
“Sister it’s me Brother. Are you here with me? Did you come…”
He trails off. Observing her, it seemed that she didn’t understand. She didn’t respond nor react. He took her arms into his own.
“It’s me. Your brother. Did you call out my name?”
He said it once more, searching for anything to confirm his He observed her body language and it reacted with curiosity. The white colors of her eyes began to harden and darken, meaning that she could begin to see. Looking at him, she simply observed him.
“Please tell me you’re here. Please…”
It crushed him. This feeling that she survived and came back with him to start anew only for it to be false hope. He could tell that she didn’t know him. There was no recognition in her eyes. Breathing deeply and then exhaling, he says.
“Well, it was too much hope I guess.”
Taking his right hand and placing it on her head.
“Don’t worry Sister. Even if you don’t remember. Your brother will still protect you. I promise I won’t fail this time.”
He looks away and does mouth signals at the walls until a bowl of food arrives. He grabs a few and gives them to her before feeding one personally by hand. She holds the ones given to her and enjoys the headboard while being fed. A joyful smile streaks across her face. Her antennas wiggle with delight.
Behind the walls, the dwarf scientist observes the pair below.
“Very interesting. While the princess does not seem to be as intelligent as the male, the male himself is quite the talented individual. He fully knows he’s being watched and tested. We will have more tests for him.”
