Memories

The next room was a familiar larger and more spacious room. In fact, it was incredibly familiar. There should be a mirror room on the other side of the right wall where the scientists would watch him and his comrades in secret. He could not see the mirror as it was disguised, but he felt that it was true. If all laboratories were like this then whoever designed them must have been a boring person.

A newborn like him would be immediately taken, tested, and then tagged. He went through this once before, just like all of his other siblings. Just as he had just thought about this, he hears a machine whirls to life around him. The room he was currently in is the staging area where newborns like him wander before they are taken. A giant mechanical hand reaches out and tries to grab him. Seeing as there is nowhere to run and nowhere to go, he let it happen. With his lack of resistance, the hand, although initially rough, softened and relaxed. It still held him however and it took him out of the room through an entrance at the ceiling.

He is transported through a dark hallway upon which he closes his eyes. Perhaps some rest would do him some good. This was a good time to simply let go of his worries. He had done this many times before in his previous life and it felt so second nature that once he realized it, it instantly worried him. Would he be a subject to be experimented on once more in this life as well. He would not have it however. He will do everything and anything to win his freedom. He was able to escape before and he’ll do it again, just without everyone who came with him.

Shaking his head after realizing that he was not relaxing at all, he tries to think about different thoughts. He recalls his first meeting with his Queen. Unlike all the other worker types like him, his sister was special. During their time together, she would tell him about her life away from the rest of the group. She was the only offspring of their "mother" to be able to produce. She was innocent when they first met. Her caretaker, a scientist, was kind to her and genuinely loved her, or so she thought. She lived in relative peace before the incident that would lead her out of her prison. Her experiments mostly only involved her blood being sampled as the scientists did not want to harm the only "Queen", or rather "Princess" as before she birthed any children she was called Princess.

She also told him that she opened her egg alone and in her own chambers. She was only permitted to see the others after she grew older. Because she was always alone, except for when she was with the scientists, she was scared of her own race. He remembers her chuckling about this as she talked about the silly thought. Just as his memory of this incident ends he enters a new room.
