The half-fly had fallen into a half-awake state over the course of the past hours. He was still stuck and could only weakly hit the threads holding him in place.

A distant rumbling broke his concentration, and his head jolted awake. The fly thought he felt something was wrong. The air so slightly pulsed with a power not too foreign to the fly, he just never expected to feel it outside of his body. The air was pulsing with the same power as the stream inside his head!

The fly frowned. 'What is going on?'

Suddenly he felt like he was being picked up in one single motion and a couple of seconds later put down again.

Here the fly felt suffocated by the air brimming with dragonic power, it reeked of it so much the fly actually threw the contents inside his stomach up.

'Make it stop!' The fly thought. His head grew hot as his back grew cold. But the power only grew stronger and had the whole glass in its spell.

Plop The glass was unscrewed and the fly was assulted and fell unconscious by another burst of Dragonic Magic.

The wizard took the brain out of the glass. The egg shell got thrown out on the way and landed on the container glass as the wizard placed the brain on an empty circle. The fly also got thrown out, but he got seperated from the egg and landed inside one crease of the wizards pair of jeans.

Everything went unnoticed by the wizard as he approached the blue object in the middle of all those carvings, one of his hands stretched out, prepared to activate the ritual. He spent one last glance at the actions needed during the ritual.

Intact brain of a at least lesser dragon being, lv 8 red sigil (Blue catalyst, Form Nr. 134 with adj. to Dragonic), Soul container above dragon's level

Steps

  1. Activate red sigil

  2. Place brain on input circle, container(s) on output circle

  3. Open blue catalyst

Each of the steps survived under the scrutinizing glare of the wizard. The wizard just had too much to lose - were he to fail, he would have to look all over for another dragon's corpse, keep it hidden from the church, dissect it without fail and do the ritual again. The problem is that the church was likely to pick up traces from this ritual, and would demand him be arrested. And Dora wasn't keen of that. Even though mages were treated differently from criminals and generally commoners, he felt more like an explorer than someone who'd enjoy staying inside jail.

In fact, were it not for his outstanding magical capabilities, he would still be roaming around and explore the world.
