Chapter 20: Selene's Tale

Chapter 20: Selene's Tale

"Yeah, I'm well aware of how much this means to you." Ziek kissed Selene on the cheek. "Goodbye Selene," He took a dose of Sun Repellant and walked out of the castle. Selene stood there speechless. That was it, her relationship with Ziek was over just like that. Inside she was screaming, wanting to let out tears but this wasn't the time for tears. She had so much to deal with right now. Her dream was at stake.

"You made the right choice Selene," Blaire lightly patted her on the shoulder. "I know it hurts, but he was going to leave you anyway. Better it be now then a few years down the road. You'll thank me for this later." She went to walk away but Selene stopped her.

"I need an honest answer Blaire," Selene forced a swallow. "Did Ziek really try to rape you?" Blaire took her arm off her.

"Why would I lie about something like that?" Blaire pulled Selene in for a hug. "Selene, you're my best friend. I would never do anything to hurt you." She ran her hands through Selene's over and over again. "Surely you'd know that," Blaire smiled. "After all," She laughed. "We're like sisters, now, go, you've got work to do. Don't let Ziek have another moment in your thoughts. He's trash anyway." She watched as Blaire walked toward the throne room.

The moment Blaire left, Selene couldn't help herself. She couldn't fully believe that Ziek tried to rape Blaire. That didn't seem like something he'd do and if that's what she believed. Then she only knew of one person who could help her get Ziek back. Selene began dialing Angel's phone number hoping to reach him. She waited but his phone went to voicemail. That's right, he's with his werewolf girlfriend. He wasn't going to answer her.

"Whatever, I'll just deal with it later." Selene heard a loud crash coming from upstairs. "Damn it, Brandon, I swear if he broke another thing in this castle. I'm going to beat his ass, I told him, I was being evaluated and to be on his best behavior. But no," She walked upstairs to where all the noise was coming from. "Fuck Selene, Fuck her evaluation, I'm a break shit anyway, because I'm Brandon and I don't give a shit. I'm going to kill him, he's such a-," She dropped her clipboard on the floor.

The walls of the castle were a complete wreck. The spot where Jayden's room used to be was completely destroyed. Water shooting from the pipes from his wrecked bathroom. The damages were enough to bring sunlight into the castle. Vampires were running around frantically trying to get their hands on Sun Repellant so they wouldn't burn to death. Brandon's really outdone himself this time.

"Brandon," Selene yelled at the top of her lungs. "Get your ass in here now." She waited at the hall for him. He rushed over and glanced over at the damages. He shifted his gaze to her. Selene tapped her foot while waiting for his explanation.

"Wait, I didn't do this." Brandon pointed at Jayden's room. "I was in my room, like you told me, I didn't do this. This is not Brandon. Brandon doesn't break things in," He motioned over to a straight line that tore through the ground. "A straight line, that's Fate, I'm telling you it's-," Lord Alexander walked up with a servant next to him holding a clipboard.

"Well, commander, how do you intend to handle this?" Lord Alexander asked, the servant was prepared to give her a strike.

"Brandon, I don't care." Selene rubbed her forehead. "I don't care who did it. The fact is it shouldn't have happened. So, go to your room and I don't want to look at you until I summon you. No more training, No more spending time with Ziek, you just go to your room and stay there and no Angel either." Brandon gasped.

"No Angel," Brandon's mouth dropped. "But, but, but, I didn't do it." Selene pointed to his room. "But, Selene, it's Angel, he's my buddy, you can't take away Angel. Selene," He tried to argue, she pointed again. "But, Selene, it's Angel, he's so fun to hang out with. Especially when it's him and Ziek together. We're best buddies. You can't do this," She pulled out a vial of blood. "But. Selene," She opened the vial. "Okay, I'm going. Don't blow me up." He ran away.

"That's right, you better run." Selene put the vial away. Lord Alexander gave her a nod of approval and left the hallway. She glanced over to see a sword next to the damaged wall. Next to it was a note. She picked up the note and began reading it to herself. It read.

Sorry about the damages. Use this sword to fix it. I hope your evaluation is going well. Take care, Scythe.

"It's going smoothly," Selene rolled her eyes. It was more like the worst evaluation ever. First Ziek, Now this. What is this, fuck with Selene day? Does nobody care that she's being evaluated and if she fucks up. She loses her dream of being commander. Does nobody get that? Guess not, it's all on her. She picked up the sword and swung it. The sword broke and all the damages were restored. "Why is everyone deciding to fuck to with me? When this evaluation is over, everybody is getting their ass kicked." She picked up her clipboard and walked down the hall. Her eyes were glued to the clipboard, reviewing the checklist again and again. She didn't want to miss anything. Everything had to be perfect. Even if it meant, redoing the checklist again and-,

Selene's eyes lingered on the crossed out words. Ziek wrote them, he was just trying to get her attention. But she shut him out. All he wanted was to spend time with her. Now, what could have been a simple fix in their relationship. Had turned into absolute chaos. He broke up with her and it's not like he didn't have a good reason to do it. But, it still-, She ran her finger across her eye only to notice a tear had formed. No, she couldn't do that, she doesn't do that. She doesn't cry, she's too strong for that. Ziek's gone, it's not a big deal, she'll get over it. Focus on the positives, she's going to be commander. That's what's important, or maybe, it wasn't as important as Ziek no she's wrong, it is more important. He's not worth throwing her dream away for, he's just one guy, there will be more just like him.

Selene went into her bedroom and threw her clipboard on the bed. She needed a break, just a minute to process all this. She threw herself on her bed and shut her eyes. "He's not worth it, he's just a guy, it's not worth crying over. So stop thinking about him." She picked up the nearest thing, she could throw only to discover. Ziek left his boxers in her room from the Lunar Ball. He kept trying to get her to have sex with him. She refused and told she wasn't in the mood and she just wanted to lay there and think. He didn't take it any further, he turned over upset and decided to ignore her like she ignored his sexual needs. She might have deserved that. She clinched his boxers to her chest. She missed him so much, why did they have to break up? Why did he have to make her choose between her dream and him? Why couldn't she have both? She shut her eyes and as strange as it was she began to think of what her master said to her.

"Selene, may I come in?" She heard her master's voice through the door. She walked over to answer it. She was beat up, she had bruises on her body from having just fought what had to be one of the strongest werewolves she's ever met. She limped over to the door and answered it.

The door opened revealing a man dressed in a white robe with black dragons on it. He had long gray hair that descended to his lower back. His jade eyes had a slight glow to them. Sheathed at his side was his sword. His white robe was opened just enough to where she could see a mark of butterfly on his chest located just above his heart. His hands were placed over his stomach and were hidden in the sleeves of his robe. His skin was slightly pale. Like usual, he greeted her with a smile revealing his sharp vampire teeth.

"Say a word and I'll beat your ass." Selene walked over to her bed and sat down. "The bitch got lucky, like," She shrugged. "How I was supposed to know she'd use my own ability against me. You didn't prepare me for that. Some master, you are."

"Now, Selene," He said with a stern voice. "To be fair," She glared at him. "To be fair," He repeated. "I didn't think of that either." Her master sat next to her. "It just goes to show not all werewolves are dumb. She's obviously smart and crazy but um," He cleared his throat. "You know, there is something that makes her so strong. Well," His eyes shifted to the ground. "I heard the story from my brother Scythe and well," He forced a swallow. "I know why the girl is as strong as she is. Wanna know my guess?"

"No, but, you're going to tell me anyway." Selene began healing herself. He went to help but she scolded him. "I got it, I heal my own wounds. I don't need you licking them clean dad, now go on, tell me your guess."

"She's in love," He answered. "Notice how the second that giant wolf boy was in danger. She jumped in to save his life even if it cost her own. She even dared to fight my brother Scythe and did quite well. Scythe's no easy foe," He lowered his robe showing her his back. There was a deep gash running down his back. It was a scar he had received from Scythe during one of their many sparring sessions. He kept the scar as a reminder of his first sparring session with his brother. "But," He lifted his robe. "The point is, she pulled it off and how was she able to do all of this. It's because she's protecting a boy she loves very much. So much so, she'd die for him."

"Okay, what does that have to do with me?" Selene raised her brow. "I got people to protect too. Like Brandon and Patience, I'd die for them. You don't see me out here fighting like that. So to say it's love, that makes her so strong. I call bullshit. Love is pointless, it doesn't do anything for anybody. Except get you killed."

"Selene," He let out a deep sigh. "There's no denying your love for your siblings. But there's a difference between the type of love she has. As compared to, the type of love you have. That difference is, on that battlefield she showed it." He pointed out. "She used that love as a strength not a weakness. Because of that, she was able to almost kill Scythe. Let that sink in for a moment. She almost killed Scythe. One of our strongest and because of what she decided to do on that battlefield. He almost died. That's not weakness Selene, that's strength."

"So what, you're saying because she has a deep love for this werewolf boy. That's what makes her stronger than me?" Selene rolled her eyes. "That's absurd," She scoffed. "I mean, that doesn't make any sense. Why would the fact she chooses to acknowledge her feelings rather than hide them make her stronger. It should be the opposite, feelings make you weak. They alter your judgement cause you to make stupid decisions. That's not strength."

"Selene," He stressed. "She beat you without using an ability." He pointed out. "How else could she have done that? Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, we both know, it's the love she has for her team and for that wolf that makes her so strong." He added. "You want to be a commander. Well, you could learn from what she did on that battlefield and besides."He lowered his head. "After hearing what that girl did for that werewolf boy and how strong that made her. I ugh, it's not easy for me to say this but." He cleared his throat. "I want that for you Selene, I want you to find a guy, you love so much, you'd do anything to protect him. Not just by self destructing I mean actually fighting to protect him because you care that much. I want to see that strength from you Selene."

"You want me to get a boyfriend?" Selene scoffed. "Talk about useless things I don't need. I don't care about dating. I just want to be commander. I'm not Patience, she's the dating type, not me, I don't do dating. I don't do love. I don't do relationships. I don't even want kids. So why would I want a boyfriend? I'm fine by myself."

"But Selene, maybe that's what you need." He ran his finger through her hair. "You're too afraid to open up to anyone. Too afraid to feel anything. You can't live that way forever, I've tried to get you to talk to me but it doesn't work. If you were to find a guy, maybe that would." Selene rose to her feet and began pushing him out of her room. "Selene, I'm just trying to-," She shut the door in his face.

Selene's pale blue eyes lingered on her phone screen. There was a text written but not sent. The cursor sat there blinking after the text was written. Her eyes read over the message that she was thinking about sending to Ziek at least a dozen times. Could she do it? Could she swallow her pride and admit that she's in love with him and admit that she's-. Selene stared at the text on her phone. The unsent message read: "I'm sorry. Please come back to the castle so we can talk about this. Love, Selene." No she couldn't be that pathetic, she wasn't going to crawl back to him. She deleted the message and put her phone away. Soon after, she heard a knock on her door. She walked over to answer it.

"It's time to gather the team," Blaire informed her. "My father wants to see how quickly you can assemble the team. Everyone must be ready in the throne room in ten minutes or you fail and you will receive a strike." She flashed a smile at Selene. "Good Luck," She walked off, Selene quickly rushed over to her phone. She sent a group text to all members of the team. Letting them know to gather at the throne room for a mission.

Brandon was the first reply telling her he was on his way. He knew better than anyone what would happen if he wasn't there during her test. She got a reply from Jayden saying he was on his way. That's two, but she's still missing Fate, Scythe, and Ziek. Selene walked down the halls to Scythe's bedroom. She knocked but no answer.

"Scythe," Selene called out through the door but again no response. She thought about kicking the door down but knew the second she did that. Scythe would be furious with her. Best not to anger their best swordsman. She'll come back to him. She walked over to Fate's door and knocked. She could hear voices from inside his room. She waited for a minute and Scythe answered the door.

"It's time, meet at the throne room." Selene informed him. Scythe nodded and went to his room to get ready. Fate came out fully dressed. "Oh good you're here too, throne room, now."

"Do I have to?" Fate complained.

"Well," Selene crossed her arms. "I could kick your ass." He rolled his eyes at her and began walking to the throne room. "That's what I thought." That covers Scythe and Fate now all she needed was Ziek. She checked her phone to see if he replied to her message but got no response. She quickly called him, hoping he'd answer.

"Come on, Ziek," Selene waited as the phone rang in her ear. After three rings, it went to voicemail. She hung up after. She couldn't believe him. She told him about this test, he of all people should know how important this is to her. He'll be there, he has to be. He could be in the throne room waiting on her. Yeah, that's it, he wouldn't mess up her chance at being commander boyfriend or not. He's there, he has to be.

Selene arrived at the throne room. The team was gathered in line, each of them were dressed for combat and were in their positions. Fate and Jayden stood in the back, Brandon stood in front of Fate as his shield. But next to Brandon was a blank space, Ziek's position. He wasn't there. She had less than a minute left to get him.

Lord Alexander was sitting on his throne. His leg resting on his knee. His index finger slowly tapped on the arm of his throne. Blaire sat next to him, her legs and arms crossed as they both were left waiting for Ziek to arrive. This can't be happening, why isn't Ziek here? She told him to be here. She's going to get a strike and it's going to be his fault. She's going to kick his ass if he doesn't get his ass in this throne room right now.

"Time's up," Lord Alexander stated. "That's another strike, that makes two Selene." He motioned to the servant. The servant marked down the strike. "One more and you can say goodbye to the commander position." Two Strikes? There should only be one, where did she go wrong? Selene kept racking her brain but couldn't think of anything.

"What are you talking about?" Selene asked. "I should only have one strike and I promise you there wont be a second."

"But there is a second," Lord Alexander informed her. "You let Ziek leave the castle without permission. You even let him steal a dose of Sun Repellant. A good commander would have stopped him but you did not." He urged a servant over, she handed him a wine glass filled with blood and he drank from it. "Instead," He set the wine glass on the servant's tray. "You allowed him to break my rules. Rules that are in place to protect all of us. You know as well as I the dangers of letting a vampire who was bitten and not born converse with humans. Boyfriend or not, he still runs the risk of falling in love with a mortal."

"I know that but I trust Ziek." Selene argued. "He wouldn't be foolish enough to do something like that."

"You trust him," Blaire laughed. "A commander shouldn't take such daring risks based on trust. Selene, you know better than this. Sadly, I'm rather disappointed in your progress so far. Remember it is my team you are leading. I won't have you lead them to ruin. Perhaps Angel made a mistake, father." She glanced over at him. "Selene might not be a good fit after all, we might need to find someone better suited for the role of commander."

"No need, she still has one strike left." Lord Alexander reminded her. Blaire crossed her arms and rolled her eyes at her father. "Blaire, are you not satisfied with my decision? Perhaps, you should leave and let me attend to this matter myself."

"As you wish Father," Blaire rolled her eyes and left the throne room. Once the doors were shut behind her. Lord Alexander turned his attention to Selene. Truthfully, Selene was confused. She didn't understand why Blaire was unsatisfied with her Father's decision. As her best friend, she assumed Blaire would be happy about this decision. But for some reason, she wasn't. Was Blaire trying to sabotage her? No, that's absurd, Blaire would never do something like that to her. They're friends, they've been friends since they were kids. Blaire would never do anything to hurt her. Maybe Blaire's still upset her father pulled from her honeymoon earlier than she wanted. That had to be it, she's annoyed with her father, not his decision.

"Selene, need I remind you that," Lord Alexander took a sip of his wine glass. He held the glass in his hand as he spoke. "You are walking on a very thin thread. Your dream rests in the balance and you are letting it slip." He took another drink of the glass. "It's a shame, Angel spoke so highly of you. He seemed adamant that I make you commander and here you are making him look like a fool. So Selene," He finished off the blood in his wine glass. "My suggestion to you is this." He paused for a moment. "Don't make any more mistakes. If you fail this test, it will take a lot of convincing for me to give you another chance. So I say it again. Tread carefully."

"Yes my lord," Selene bowed to him. "I will not fail you again."

"Now as for Ziek," Lord Alexander began. "His field trip into town has ended. Go and find him. When you do, let him know," He crushed his wine glass, leaving glass shards all over the floor. "I'm not pleased," He glared at Selene. "He left the castle without my permission, he cost us resources and from what I hear. He chose to break into my daughter's room. Bring him to me and I will see to it that he is properly punished."

"Yes my lord," Selene left the throne room. Once she did she saw several of their troops arming themselves for battle. Blaire was standing there across from the troops armed with her sword. "What's going on here?" She walked up to her. "Why are you commanding my troops?" She pointed at herself.

"Now go carry out your orders, I'll deal with this." Blaire ordered, the troops left the castle each of them armed with silver weapons. Spears, swords, knives, daggers and even arrows. The entire vampire army was being dispatched by Blaire. "Oh, didn't you hear, the army just received new orders from you." She smirked.

"What?" Selene raised her brow. "I gave no orders."

"Yes you did," Blaire walked up to her. "You just told them to destroy the town and everyone in it." Selene's eyes widened. "So much for being a neutral zone, now the town is going to be completely destroyed and it's going to be your fault. My father will be so furious when he finds out what you did." Her lips formed a devilish smirk.

"Why are you doing this?" Selene balled her hands into fists. "We're friends. Why are you sabotaging me like this? You know, all I ever wanted was to be commander, this is my dream at stake here and you're trying to sabotage it. I thought we were friends."

"We are friends," Blaire hugged her. As she hugged her she brought her lips to Selene's ear. "But see," She whispered. "Angel chose you for commander. Your failure will only go to show that Angel is unfit for the role of King. It will show that he is a terrible decision maker and it will go in my favor. Let me make something very clear to you." She smirked and stepped away from her. "Nothing is going to come between me and my father's throne. Not Angel and certainly not you."

Selene's eyes began to fill with tears. She couldn't believe it, Blaire betrayed her. Her best friend just jammed a knife in her back. The worst part is Blaire doesn't even feel bad about it. She doesn't even care that she cost Selene everything. All she cared about was her seat on her Father's throne. This whole time, Selene trusted her and believed in their friendship thinking that when Blaire became Queen. She'd be commander but it was all a lie. The only person Blaire really cared about was herself. Everyone else was just a pawn, including her.

"This whole time," Selene tried to contain it but her anger was starting to build. "Master Sozin was right about you." Blaire busted out laughing after she spoke her master's name. This only fueled her anger. Selene wanted to fight Blaire, she wanted to kill her. But she couldn't because Blaire was still her friend.

"That old relic," Blaire laughed harder. "He's dead. There's no sense bringing him up. As much as I hate werewolves. I really should send Lord Grimm a gift basket for offing his old ass. He was nothing but a thorn in my side anyway. Telling me to stay away from his sweet Selene, warning me that if I hurt you. He'd kill me. Always trying to protect his sweet Selene. It's not like you're his actual daughter or anything. So I don't see why he cared so much about you." She put her hands on her hips. "It's quite pathetic really."

Selene refused to stand there as Blaire bad mouthed Sozin. She went to punch her before she could. Brandon showed up and grabbed her to restrain her. "Brandon, let go of me," She kept struggling to get free of his grasp. While Brandon had her restrained Blaire walked up to her and brought her lips to her ear.

"Oh and, one more thing." Blaire smirked. "Ziek was innocent," She whispered. Selene's eyes widened. "He never tried to rape me. I made it all up knowing he'd force your hand. But you know something did happen in my room." She bright her lips closer to Selene's ear. "I kissed him." Selene's anger started to build, she kept trying to get free of Brandon's grasp. She was going to kill Blaire. She ruined her relationship with Ziek.

"Brandon, let go of me." Selene kept using her nails to break Brandon's grip around her. "That bitch is dead. You bitch, we were friends. Why would you do this to me?" Selene's anger began to settle as tears fled her eyes. "I trusted you when nobody else did, I had your back when everyone else abandoned you. We were best friends."

"Yes but who needs friends when you have power?" Blaire smirked. "Strike three Selene." Selene watched as Blaire left the castle. She was going to watch as her knights destroyed the town and along with it. Any chance Selene had at being commander. No, there had to be some way to fix this. She had to stop the town from being destroyed.

"Selene," Brandon spoke. "I had no idea, what did Blaire-,"

"Not now, Brandon." Selene took out her cell phone and tried to call Angel. She waited but again, he didn't answer. Guess, she's on her own. "Brandon, I need you to do exactly as I say. Gather the team and head for town. When you get there, take down as many of our guards as you can."

"Wait, what?" Brandon raised his brow. "You want me to attack our own men. Like friendly fire," She nodded. "I don't know. Won't I get in trouble for that?" He crossed his arms. "It feels like I'll get in trouble for that."

"Brandon, don't ask questions, this is not the time for questions." Selene stressed. "Just do what I said, I've got to find Ziek. That means regrettably. I'm putting you in charge of this operation. You are to prevent the town from sustaining too much damage. Rescue the survivors and detain, not kill, our troops. Can you do that?"

"You're putting me in charge of a mission." Brandon face began to light up. "Oh hell yeah," He hugged her. "I'll do it," He barged into the throne room. "Scythe, Fate, Jayden, get your asses in gear, we got a mission. The town is being destroyed and we gotta save it." Selene rolled her eyes, here it comes. She could envision Lord Alexander rising from his throne after hearing this order. "Lord Alexander, um, yes, the town is being destroyed and we're trying to save it. Now, I know you're pissed." She heard a loud scream from Brandon.

"Selene," Lord Alexander yelled. She knew the king was pissed but she'd deal with it later. Right now, she had to stop the troops from destroying the town. Selene ran out of the castle, getting a head start on him. It didn't take long for the rest of the team to catch up to her.

"You put Brandon in charge," Fate rushed to her side. "Smooth move Selene, let the guy with diamond armor tell Lord Alexander his army fucked up. Not like he controls diamonds or anything." He pointed out. "So let me guess, Blaire screwed you over."

"How did you know that?" Selene looked over at him.

"Come on, it's Blaire, she's a bitch," Fate shrugged. "We all know this. I keep telling you guys she's Satan but nobody ever listens to Fate." He added. "Fuck Fate he don't know what he's talking about." He sped up, making haste towards town. It amazed Selene how he was matching her pace. "Well, guess what," He smirked. "I know exactly what I'm talking about." He slowed down so he could run beside Brandon. "Need some healing." He created a healing barrier around Brandon allowing him to heal as they both ran toward town.

"Thanks, bro," Once Brandon's wounded shoulder was healed. Fate dispelled the barrier. Selene's feet skid across the grass. It was there in front of her, the entire town was in flames. She could hear people screaming as her army of vampires fed on them. "We've really got our work cut out for us don't we?"

"Fate, start looking for survivors. Try to help whoever you can." Selene ordered. Fate nodded and rushed into the burning town. "Brandon, Jayden, detain the guards." The two of them nodded and ran into town together. "Scythe,"

"No need, I know what to do." Scythe pulled out his sword and ran into town. Scythe created two water dragons and was using them to extinguish the flames. Now that just leaves Ziek, Selene balled her hands into fists. She bolted into the burning town, her pale blue searching through the carnage in search of Ziek.

"Out of my way," Selene took a sword from one of the troops and slashed him with it. He was seconds away from biting down a human's neck. She quickly ran past as the human made a point to thank her for saving her life. Selene dropped the sword and kept running through the burning town. Her feet skid across the ground as a shining pink arrow with light pink flower petals swirling around it, flew past her. The arrow missed striking a building and reducing it to ash with one shot. Selene's eyes shifted over at the shooter.

"Not another step," The girl loaded her bow with another arrow. "How dare you attack all these people. They've done nothing to you and yet you still want to harm them. Vampires like you give vampires like me a bad name. You'll pay for what you've done." She fired another arrow at Selene, she dodged it by slightly stepping to the side. The arrow struck another building behind her, destroying it.

Selene's eyes widened. This girl. She had platinum blonde hair, pale blue eyes, and slightly pale skin. She reminded her of her sister Patience, the two of them looked a lot alike. She could almost pass as their twin. But how could that be? Patience is dead. Unless, somehow, she survived?

"Patience?" Selene raised her brow. "Since when did you learn to use a bow?" The girl shot another arrow at her. Selene caught the arrow in between her fingers."Now if you don't stop shooting arrows at me. I'm going to kick your ass. Now first off, why aren't you dead?"

"Quit calling me Patience," The girl shot another arrow at her. Selene dodged the arrow. Well, she warned her. Selene ran at the girl and began trying to hit her. The girl gasped and jumped out of the way. Selene pulled out a vial of her blood and threw it at her. The vial exploded and blasted the girl back. The girl blocked the explosion only to be surrounded by smoke. Selene grabbed her by her shirt and lifted her in the air.

"Now Patience is that any way to treat your sister?" Selene asked. "You know you had me and Brandon really worried. We thought you died. Can you believe that? I'm over her taking the heat for your death and you're not even dead."

"I said, quit calling me that?" The girl cloaked her hand in a light green aura. Paralysis filled Selene's arm and made her let go of her. She jumped back and fired another arrow at Selene. She dodged it. The girl kept firing arrow after arrow, Selene proceeded to dodge every single one of them.

"I'm starting to think you aren't my sister. Then if that's the case," Selene glared at her. She charged at the girl and struck her with a powerful backhand. The girl rolled across the ground, her lip busted. "Who are you and why do you look like my sister?" She grabbed the girl by the throat and lifted her up with one arm. She clenched tighter on her throat, choking the life out of her. The girl's feet dangled in the air as Selene choked her. "Answer me or I'll just kill you. It makes no difference to me if you live or die."

Selene watched as a glowing pink aura covered the girl. Her white tank top changed to a glowing pink leather vest. Her plaid skirt changed to a leather pink one. Her combat boots changed into pink boots. Her hands were covered in long white gloves with pink floral designs on them. The girl's eyes started to change, becoming a glowing pink color. Her bow changed to a sword with flower designs on it. She placed her feet on Selene's chest and pushed her back, The girl did a back flip and landed on her feet. Her weapon changed to bow and she fired an arrow at Selene.

"The hell," Selene dodged the arrow barely. She charged at the girl, trying to hit her but the girl was dodging her attacks. She tried to grab her throat, the girl's weapon turned to a sword and she swung at her forcing Selene back. The second Selene backed up, the girl jumped at her with a front flip and slashed at her again and again keeping Selene on defense. "What the hell is going on? You were not fighting this well earlier." She gasped. "You were holding back on me weren't you? You bitch, do you know who the fuck I am?"

Selene tried to pull out a vial of blood. The girl slashed it and Selene at the same time. Selene tried to detonate the blood on the girl's sword. She threw her sword at her, causing the explosion to hit only her. A glowing chain shot out of the girl's wrist latching onto the sword and pulling it back after the explosion went off. Once Selene was hit by her own explosion, the girl ran off.

"Get back here bitch," Selene went to chase her. The girl shot an arrow at a building leaving a mess load of rubble between them.

"No, I have no idea who you are or," The girl stared at her hands. "What just happened. All I can say is," She cleared her throat. "Stop calling me Patience, that's not my name and don't even think about coming after me." She ran off further into town.

"Cute as if this blockade could stop me." Selene pulled out a vial of her blood to destroy the debris. Before she could, she heard a voice from a distance.

"Amy, wait," -That voice?!- It's Ziek. She quickly put the vial away and chased after Ziek's voice. Her feet skid across the ground as she was running. Wait a sec, Amy?!, who the fuck is Amy? Selene balled her hand into a fist. She wasn't sure but she's about to find out. She walked over to the shelter of the buildings. She could see Ziek standing there in the burning town. His pale blue eyes were wandering the flames. "Amy, please, let's talk about this, I swear I had nothing to do with any of this. I don't want to hurt you. Amy please."

"Liar," Selene watched as a girl with brunette hair tackled Ziek coming out from her cover behind a building. She tried to stab Ziek in the throat with her sai that had markings on it. He quickly moved his head to the side, making her miss. She tried to stab him again but he caught her arm holding the sharp point inches from his throat. "You were after me weren't you, you knew I knew about Vampires and wanted to be sure. The moment I revealed my knowledge to you, you had the town destroyed in order to maintain your cover. Here I thought you were different. No," She kept trying to force the sai to his throat. "You're just like the rest of them."

"Amy, I swear, I had nothing to do with this. You have to believe me." Ziek forced her off him. She quickly spun and kicked him in the jaw. He got up as she kept kicking him again and again. He blocked her every kick. "Amy, stop, I don't want to," She slid between Ziek's legs, popped up to her feet and slashed Ziek in the back with her sai. He let out a loud scream as she jammed the sharp point deeper into his spine.

"Liar," Amy twisted the blade and pulled it out. Once she pulled it out, she kicked Ziek in the butt forcing him into a burning building. The flames began to burn Ziek's skin as he fought them off. While he was fighting them off, she hurled her sai at him. The sharp sai hit Ziek in the shoulder, taking out his right arm. She charged at Ziek and kicked him back into the flames of the building he fought so hard to get out of. "Burn to death and take all your lies with you." She started to walk away but Ziek rushed out of the burning building.

"Amy, listen, I swear, I had nothing to do with this." Ziek ripped the sai out of his shoulder and threw it down. "I don't want to hurt you, that was never my intention. I want to be with you. I want to be your boyfriend, we had a great time up until now. We even kissed, all of that was real, none of it a lie. I'm telling you the truth." Selene stood there as anger started to build. They just broke up and already he was trying to date another girl. A human girl, no less, he left her for a human. A human, he chose a human over her.

"No," Selene has dealt with a lot of things today. She was betrayed by her best friend. She failed her evaluation. She lost her boyfriend who is also the same person who cost her dream. That same person who caused her all this trouble is leaving her for a human. She won't allow it, she'd never allow it. She came out from hiding, her eyes glaring at Ziek.

"Go on Ziek, say it, tell her how you really feel?" Selene crossed her arms. "Tell this human how much you love and adore her. Or better yet," She ran her fingers through her blonde hair. "Why not tell her how you single handedly screwed me over. It wasn't enough that we broke up, no, you had to help Blaire ruin any chance I had at being commander. My dream is gone, Ziek, ruined. All because you didn't know how to keep your dick in your pants."

"That's funny," Ziek laughed. "Yeah I might have cost you two strikes," He held up two fingers. "But I had nothing to do with the third." He reasoned. "It's not my fault you chose to take Blaire's side over mine." He pointed at himself. "You trusted her over me, your boyfriend. Well, your former boyfriend." He added. "So excuse me for being a little pissed off."

"You're pissed," Selene laughed. "Do you realize what I've been dealing with since you left the castle?" She put her hands on her hips.

"You chose Blaire remember," Ziek crossed his arms. "I'm willing to bet. She screwed you over. It's funny how that works out doesn't it?" He smirked. "Seeing as you picked her over a guy who actually loved you. But that's okay," He shrugged. "I was just a fuck boy anyway right, no feelings, no attachments, just some guy you used for sex. It's not like you ever gave a shit about me right? Well no worries Selene." He smiled. "I got the message and I moved on because you weren't worth another second of my time."

"Wait, this is your-," Amy pointed at Selene. He nodded.

"Well, if I gave a shit before." Selene crossed her arms. "You can be certain," She glared at Ziek. "I don't, now." She smirked. "Though to go from me to a human. That's pretty stupid of you Ziek, you know how fragile and weak they are compared to us. How easily I could snap every bone in her body like a twig. Especially knowing." She popped her knuckles. "Just how vengeful, I can be. You cost me my dream now it's going to cost you your new girlfriend." She glanced over at Amy. "Don't worry, I'll make this quick, it's not your fault. He's stupid. You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time." She started walking toward her.

"Amy, run," Ziek glanced over at her. She nodded and took off running. Selene went to chase her down. Ziek caught her in mid run."No, Selene, I'm not going to let you hurt her." He threw Selene to the ground.

"Too bad, I'm not giving you a choice." Selene kicked Ziek right between the legs. He fell over clinching his aching groin. That should keep him busy, she rushed into the forest to find Ziek's girlfriend. She could hear the girl's heavy breathing, she was exhausted from creating so much distance between them. Too bad, it wasn't nearly enough.

"Come out," Selene's pale blue eyes began to search for the forest for Ziek's new girlfriend. "Come out, it's feeding time and you're on the menu." She began searching behind the trees being sure to search every tree she could. The girl was near, she could sense it. Just as she was about to check behind another tree.

Amy dropped down from the tree landing on top of her, catching her in a choke hold. She took out her sai and jammed it into Selene's side. Selene grabbed Amy by the hair and threw her off her easily. Amy rolled across the glass and Selene removed her sai that was impaled into her right side.

"You probably should have kept running." Selene threw the sai at her. She went to use her ability to make the blade explode but it didn't work. For some reason, her sais negated her abilities making it impossible for her to use the girl's weapon against her. "Well, aren't you full of tricks," Selene glanced over at Amy as she rose to her feet.

"You haven't the slightest idea," Amy smirked. She caught her sai in mid air and threw it. The blade cut a rope. Selene watched as several blades were fired at her. Each one of them were cloaked in holy water. She dodged them only to spring another trap beneath her feet. Selene fell into a deep hole being trapped inside. "Sorry to burst your bubble but," She grabbed a gas can from behind a tree. "I'm not on the menu." She began pouring gasoline on Selene while she was trapped. "Any last words," She took out a box of matches after pouring the entire gas can on her. She struck the match holding a burning match in her hand.

"Just two," Selene smirked. "Boom, bitch," She snapped her fingers. A vial of Selene's blood rested right by Amy's feet. She gasped and kicked it away from her before it could explode. Amy tried to throw the match at her. Selene took off her shirt and threw it at the match. Her shirt caught on fire but the match was spent. She climbed out of the mud pit while Amy tried to strike another match. Before she could, Selene grabbed Amy's leg and pulled making her fall on the grass. She held Amy down and began to sink her teeth into her neck.

"Leave her alone," Ziek tackled Selene into a tree. Before she could recover he kept punching her in the ribs over and over and over again. He spun and kicked Selene and knocked her to the ground. While she was on the ground, Ziek got on top of her and pinned her down. Selene kept trying to fight with him to make him release her. "Stop it, Selene, you've lost and I'm not letting you hurt her."

"Get the fuck off me," Selene struck Ziek with headbutt. She struck him right in the nose causing it to bleed. He backed up as blood kept gushing from his nose. She charged at Amy as she was about to run from her again. This time, Selene caught her by her arm and threw her into a tree as if she was weightless. Amy bounced off the tree, her lower back covered in bruises. She grabbed Amy by her hair and forced her to stand on her feet. She tried to stab Selene with her sai but Selene caught her arm forcing her to drop the blade.

"You tried to kill me," Selene raised her brow. It kind of amazed her how well this human was able to hold her her own. Especially against someone like her. The girl had potential but she tired to kill her and for that. She had to die. She struck Amy in the chest with a palm strike. Selene hit her with just enough force to cause the bones in her upper chest to snap and block off her ability to breathe. The girl's death would be a slow one.

"Amy," Ziek's eyes widened after hearing her bones snap. He gritted his teeth together and glared at Selene. "What did you do to her?" Selene chuckled as Amy laid there in pain. She was clutching her chest trying to breathe but couldn't. "Fix it, Selene, fix it now." She laughed harder like Ziek told a joke.

"See, that's the thing," Selene laughed. "I can't fix it, no one can, just like you can't fix the fact you gave me two strikes. So I guess we're even. Though, your girlfriend," She smirked. "She's probably going to die and there's nothing you or I can do about that. All you can do is watch as she struggles to breathe. I'll see you back at the castle."

"Alright, Selene, now you've crossed the line." Ziek rose to his feet. "I was trying to be nice, I was trying not to hurt you. But now," He glared at her. "I'm going to kill you." He charged at Selene. He kept trying to punch her but she kept dodging his strikes. She went to kick him, he blocked her kick and struck her in the jaw. Selene tumbled across the ground, she kept coughing up blood as she spit up a few teeth. He grabbed Selene by her hair and forced her to stand up. "Last chance, fix it or die." He warned.

"I told you," Selene wiped her blood from her lips. "I can't fix it." Ziek punched her again, knocking her to the ground. While she was trying to get back up, he kicked her in the ribs, cracking a few of them. Ziek got on top of her and began punching her over and over again.

Selene could feel his anger with every punch. To be honest, it's what she wanted. It'd be so much easier to let Ziek finish her off. She had been betrayed by her best friend. She lost the person she loved and her dream of being commander was forever out of reach. There was nothing left to strive for, her existence had become pointless. So why not, let Ziek take what's left of her sad existence as a vampire.

"Ziek, stop it," That faint voice, the punches stopped as Ziek was pulled off her. "I can fix it, just stop it. You'll kill her but if you kill Selene. I'm not going to fix it, understand?" Selene's vision was faint but she saw hands reach out to her and she could feel healing energy being poured into her. She was being saved by who?

"Master Sozin?" She spoke faintly.

"No, not Sozin, Fate," Fate spoke. "Selene, listen to me, I need you to start healing yourself. I can fix this but you've put me in a tight spot. That girl has maybe three minutes left before she dies, I need two to save her." He explained. "I can't heal you and save her at the same time. For me to save her," He paused. "I need to give her my full attention. So I need you to heal yourself, come on, Selene, I know, it hurts," He forced a swallow. "I know you feel like giving up. Believe me, I've been there but you can't. Brandon needs his sister and he can't lose another."

"Ziek, it's Selene okay," Fate glanced over at him. "At one point you loved her right?" He nodded. "Well then, get over here and help. She needs you."

"What do I do?" Ziek rushed to Selene's side.

"Talk to her, I'm going to help the girl." Fate rose to his feet. "I told you," He pointed at Ziek. "This would happen. I warned you not to talk to humans and look what it's caused." He motioned to Selene. "If Brandon kicks my ass over this. I'm kicking your ass." He pointed at Ziek. "Now excuse me," He walked over to Amy. "You're going to be okay, this going to hurt but I can save you."

"Selene, listen to me." Ziek forced a swallow. Selene could tell, he was trying his best to fight back the tears. Ziek was never the type of guy to cry over a woman. He didn't like crying in general. He felt it made him weak. So why was he shedding tears for her?

"I didn't want our relationship to end this way. I didn't want it to end at all. I loved you Selene," Ziek kept trying to fight the tears but they kept coming out. "I really did and you broke my heart and tore it to shreds. It was so broken, I didn't know how to heal from it." He added. "So, I decided I'd just ignore the pain and move on. I felt like if I did that, the pain would just go away. But," He ran his knuckle across his eyes as the tears fell.

"I never wanted to hurt you." Ziek confessed. "So, why did you push me? Why force me into a situation where I had no choice? Damn it, Selene, why?" Selene did it because she wanted Ziek to kill her. She wanted Ziek to erase her existence so it didn't hurt anymore. Part of her still wanted to die. So, Blaire nor Ziek could hurt her again. "You can't die on me, Selene. Don't put your death on me please. I can't handle that, so you've got to pull through."

"Our relationship might be over," Ziek admitted. "But that doesn't mean that I don't care about you. It just means, we didn't work out, that's all." He shrugged, "So please, Selene, please, I need you to heal yourself. Don't let this be it, you're stronger than this."

"Selene," Brandon rushed over to her side. "You fucker," He punched Ziek in the jaw. "The fuck did you do to her, that's my fucking sister. You attacked my sister, I let you date her and you attack her. You mother-," Brandon grabbed Ziek's by his shoulder and pinned him down. He began punching Ziek over and over again. "You don't hit my sister, that's my sister, nobody hits my sister. You piece of shit, don't you hit my sister."

"Brandon," Selene's eyes slowly opened. Her body began to radiate with healing energy and her wounds started to heal on their own. She couldn't let Brandon see her in this condition. She's much too strong to let herself look weak in front of her brother. "This is just a scratch, I'll live, leave Ziek alone. I'll kick his ass later." She tried to stand up on her own but fell down at the attempt. Brandon quickly rushed in and lent her his shoulder. He started to try to carry her but she glared at him. "Don't you dare, I'll walk back."

"Like hell you will," Brandon picked her up and carried her in his arms. "I'm carrying you and that's final. And as for you," He glared at Ziek. "Selene just saved your life buddy. I was going to kill you but you better not even think about dating my sister again. The second you try, I'm going to beat your ass. Selene be damned, she isn't going to stop me. You got that, you are dead if you date her again. Selene is off limits."

"Shut up Brandon," Selene rolled her eyes.

"No you shut up," Brandon yelled. "For once, I'm putting my foot down and I'm shoving that foot straight up Ziek's ass. Motherfucker, go near my sister again, see what I do. Try it, Ziek," He warned, his eyes fixed on Ziek. "I dare ya, see what I do to your face." Ziek gulped as Brandon glared at him. "Let's go, Selene."

Brandon walked off carrying Selene back to the castle. As Brandon carried her back to the castle, Selene started to realize. Even though Ziek and Blaire had both let her down when she needed them most. Brandon was still there, when she needed him, he made a point to be there. He would always be there, so maybe, it wasn't just her protecting him all the time. No, they were protecting each other. So maybe having him for a brother wasn't such a bad thing.

"Thank you," Selene spoke as Brandon carried her.

"Well, I wasn't going to let you be another Patience." Brandon smirked. "Even though," He laughed. "You're nowhere near as cool as her. You're still my sister and it's my duty to protect you. Whether you like it or not, you're stuck with me."
