It didn’t take me long to realize how absolutely f##cked I was. The animals and creatures I could kill without risking my life had become easy. Since I believe that this world rewards struggle. The more I struggle and the closer I am to dying, the more I’m rewarded. It seemed I could no longer develop in this world without risking my life. The best way to struggle is to seek stronger beasts, similar to the Earth Bear. This concerned me because the only reason I had beaten the Earth Bear was that I spent a long time studying it. It came down to luck that I won the fight. With my new strength from traveling downriver, I felt I was strong enough to take down a weaker Elemental Beast.

A couple of days later, I had found a target. A weak air elemental beast. Similar to how the last beast was a bear infused with earth. This one was a falcon infused with air. Its speed was incredible. Unfortunately for it, I was faster. Using my genius intellect. I waited, and wait, I did, for hours and hours until it returned to its nest. From there I pounced. It tried to take off since running was what it knew best. Since I weighed more than the falcon, it could no longer take off. From that point on, it was a slaughter. The bird tried to fight back, but I was the superior brawler. It fought valiantly, but all was for naught. Many weeks later, with many Elemental Beasts dead, I got a notification.

The Lesser elemental wolf is a great wolf that has become one with the elements of the world. Still more wolf than element than species gains some benefits from being able to manipulate the basic elements. This power is gained due to the organ that sets these semi-elementals apart from all other beasts, the elemental heart. This heart refines the natural energies of the world and allows the user to use them. This evolution can be unlocked by defeating and consuming the core of basic or greater elemental beasts.

Well, that changes things. Looks like I can progress in other ways than just fighting stronger creatures. Mind you, this still requires fighting stronger creatures, just not as direct. Once again having a goal I set off into the forest searching for any and all elemental creature, knowing it was sure to be a tough but rewarding fight.
