A shriek brought Bobby to his senses, distracting him from the strange new feeling that permeated his body. He looked up in dread realising that he was naked and the woman that was shrieking at him was his manager. It didn’t help that he’d once had a crush on the woman until he’d realised how ruthlessly professional she was and that she’d ignore any moves that were made on her.
Bobby had never felt more embarrassed in his life than at that moment as thoughts rushed through his head too fast for him to properly think about and all he could think to do was hide behind the vending machine desperately wishing that he could retrieve his suit from under it.
The manager realised that no one had responded to her shrieks and took a few deep breaths before pressing a button on her bracelet and giving a curt commend. “Security to programming floor four, employee caught breaking multiple HR guidelines.”
The woman's face slowly reddened as she glared at Bobby no longer shrieking, “I don’t know what you thought you were doing vandalising and undressing yourself, but this corporation has a zero tolerance policy for this kind of thing, you are fired without severance.”
A moment later two bulky security guards appeared and manhandled Bobby by his arms towards the elevator. As they walked him down the long corridors he could see countless people poking their heads out of their work cells and staring at him.
The attention was too overwhelming and he tried to cover his privates with his arms, but the way the guards had seized him stopped him from doing this and left him feeling slightly violated. This was the end, now that he’d lost his job he would find himself reduced to ruin like Keith, and he would be unable to pay his rent and soon sink into drugs and alcohol. Briefly his mind went back to the conversation he’d had with that god, bringing slight reassurance that he still had a job, but just as quickly as that assurance had come, he was stuck by the outlandishness of the experience and realised it could have all been some kind of stress induced hallucination.
He felt tears well in his eyes as he was taken down the security elevator, which was so fast that he almost feared they had begun falling, then the security guards dragged him through a side exit and threw him to the ground where he curled up in a ball again. He may not have always enjoyed his job, but it gave his life security and without that he felt an overwhelming sense of how pathetic he really was.
Eventually he took some deep breaths to calm down, before sneaking through the thankfully empty car park back to his car and getting changed into his spare clothes. The roads felt longer than normal, the corporate cube shrinking in his rear view mirror agonisingly slow as he drove along a winding forest road.
Suddenly his vision flickered and a blue box appeared, blocking his view of the road.

[Activate]
“WHAAA, A SPREADSHEET?” Bobby yelled, swiping at his vision. Then there was a thud and he felt his car hit something. He braked hard.
SCCCREEECHHHHhh…
Bobby ripped open the driver door, then crept forward, dreading to see what he had hit.
“Phew, it’s only a possum.”
Bobby turned his attention to the blue box that was still floating in his vision. Curiously, he reached out and prodded the [Activate] button.

Awesome energy shot through him, imbuing his very soul with some electrifying power. The feeling made Bobby laugh, immediately drowning out all the terror and shame of the past hour, it felt magnificent, a hundred times better than any drug he’d ever experimented with. He could feel it changing things inside him and far too quickly the feeling settled down. However he could still feel the energy at the edges of his perception, crackling and begging to be used.

“Woah, So this is like a LITRPG status?” The blue box vanished when he said status, so he said it again, making it reappear.
Then another notification appeared.
Knowledge - Soul Puppetry
Harnessing forbidden magical techniques, learn how to hijack a soul.
Evolution makes perfectly efficient beings (they don’t even need magic to run on). Why make your own when you can bind a tiny part of your soul to an already existing one, the more intelligent the being the better it will follow your instructions.
Aware creatures will resist this procedure, so perform it on unconscious or recently dead ones.
[Learn]
Excitedly Bobby tapped [Learn] and gasped as incomprehensible instructions and words forced themselves inside his head. After his initial shock the knowledge started reorganising and a simple procedure defined itself in his mind.
Eager to try it out he turned to the unmoving possum and closed his eyes, after a moment of straining his mind he felt the existence of something that he hadn’t been aware of before. It felt like a new eye, but different, like it didn’t physically exist.
He tried opening it and a world of glowing energies opened up before him. After the initial marvelling he remembered what the knowledge had instructed him to do, and turned his newfound vision inwards.
A white cloud like blob came into view, with flashes constantly moving around inside it, like lightning. He instinctively knew this was his soul. The procedure he now knew told him that he needed to remove a tiny amount, so he picked a wisp on the edge and mentally tore it away.
An intense pain filled his mind for a moment, soon being replaced by a wave of deja vu. Bobby winced, but continued on with what the procedure dictated, he mentally pulled the wisp out of reach of his soul, then turned his gaze outwards and opened his real eyes.
Superimposed on the real world was a cloud like wisp, he knelt down to the possum and put his hand on it, when his skin contacted the possum's greasy fur, a much smaller soul appeared in the perception of his third eye.
As the procedure instructed he cut into the part of the possum's soul that contained its ego and pushed the fragment of his own soul in the spiritual wound created. Then he pushed some of the energy that was eager to be used into the creature, surrounding its damaged soul with the magic, so it could heal without dissipating.
For a few moments nothing happened, and he was begging to wonder if he had failed when the cat sized creature stood up from the pile of its own blood, black beady eyes looking into his.

Cursed Title - Roadkill Necromancer - Forcefully Equipped
An incomprehensibly powerful deity granted you unholy powers, but instead of respectfully enslaving the most powerful creature you could find as your first thrall, you decided to enslave a filthy rat-like thing that you didn’t even intentionally kill.
Title Effect - Vermin Divinity
Vermin see you as a god and will seek you out to awaken you, worship you and sacrifice others to you, maybe you will eventually learn the proper reverence you should have towards a god from them.
“What the fuck?” he said, looking at the message. Then realising there was nothing he could do about it, he opened the passenger door and looked at the possum. It looked back at him, nothing happening in its head.
“Come on then!” he said, gesturing at it.
It trotted over, dragging a damaged leg. Then it paused.
“Uppies,” he urged, pointing into the car. The possum leapt into the passenger footwell, thankfully not spilling too much blood in the process. Bobby got in the driver's seat and revved the engine, speeding off before someone discovered him doing something weird again.
How to dominate the world? he wondered, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.
