Setting out to the Unknown

Setting out to the Unknown

Two months were passed by in a flash.

In the Emerald Peak sect's inner court, Inside a specific villa,

A boy could be seen swinging a sword continuously at weird angles.

At one moment, he swipes it backwards. The next, he slashes it in front of him. Next, he moves it in a blocking position to his side, as if enemies were all around him.

Sweat continuously dripped from his forehead, and dark bags were under his eyes. Still, a certain charm on his face would attract anyone toward him.

After continuously swinging his sword at weird angles for a few hours, the boy could not take it anymore and collapsed.

"Huff, Huff ..... phew."

After collapsing, he took a few breaths and got his breathing under control.

"I should be able to master the Freeflow Sword Style in a few more weeks." The boy muttered.

"Master said that if I can master it, I will not need to worry about being surrounded as long as the enemies around me are in the same realm." He continued.

"Elder, I was wondering if you have any good sword techniques I can use?" The boy, Kai Ren, asked.

"I do have some techniques, but what you are learning now is sufficient enough for you. When you reach a certain realm in the path of your sword, I will impart the techniques to help you in your journey," Azarion replied to Kai Ren's query in his usual calm and celestial voice.

Hearing Azarion's reply, Kai Ren nodded and did not say anything.

In the past two months, Kai Ren has reached the peak-stage Qi master realm and was just one step away from the Qi Expert realm.

Kai Ren's body has also undergone significant changes. His physique has become lean and well-toned, with well-defined muscles.

His face, which used to be ordinary, has also changed, as his appearance has become much more striking and handsome.

Overall, if everyone had forgotten about him in a crowd before, he could have become a source of a small crowd.

Knock Knock,

As he was still resting, He heard knocks on his door.

With some difficulty, he stood up and walked toward the door. After opening it, he saw his master, Lian Hua, standing in her usual sect master outfit.

When he saw her, Kai Ren was surprised and asked, "What are you doing here, master? Didn't you say I should train alone until I mastered the Freeflow Sword Style?"

"Yes, I said that, but now I've changed my mind." Lian Hua replied, "I think it's about time you experienced the real cultivation world."

"What do you mean by experienced the real cultivation world?" Kai Ren asked.

"I meant what I said," Lian Hua replied. "As you are now, any cultivator in the same realm as you can wipe the floor against you. Do you know why?"

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Hearing his master's question, Kai Ren shook his head, indicating he did not know why.

"That's because you don't have any real combat experience; hence, you won't stand a chance against those who have forged their path through blood and death, and I believe it is time for you to experience that as well." Lian Hua told him the reason for it.

'What do you think I should do, elder?' Hearing Lian Hua's reasoning, Kai Ren felt that she was right, but he turned toward Azarion, the epitome of cultivation, for advice.

'hmm, she is right about you not having any battle experience, and without it, you are nothing but a glass cannon', Azarion replied. 'So it. is better for you to go outside the sect and face the real life and death situations to hone your combat sense and techniques.'

After hearing the same thing from both of his masters, Kai Ren felt that it should be in his best interest to venture into the mortal realm and gain experience, so he looked up and said,

"Okay, Master. I will do as you say. When should I leave for my journey?"

"Get some rest for now. Looking at the bags under your eyes, I am pretty sure you can carry a lot of stuff in them. You will leave with the first sunray tomorrow," Lian Hua replied with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Hearing her Kai Ren just rolled his eyes and just nodded.

After saying her piece, Lian Hua left leaving Kai Ren to his own devices.

After sending of Lian Hua, Kai Ren immediately went to sleep knowing to well that it will be his last carefree sleep for a while.

The next morning Kai Ren woke up an hour before the time of dawn, feeling refreshed after a long time.

'It's seems there is still time in dawn, what should I do till then?' Kai Ren thought 'let's just practice free sword style till master arrives.'

So acting on his thoughts Kai Ren immediately took out his sword the Skybreaker, A rank 7 sword.

He started to practice the free sword style that his master had thought and without him even realising the sun starting to rise up from the horizon.

Knock Knock

It was only when he heard a knock at the door did he realise the time he had spent practicing his free sword style.

After he opened the door he saw his master and Jian Li who has has shown him around the sect before was standing there.

Although he was a little surprised to see Jian Li there he more or less guessed his reason for being here.

When Lian Hua saw that Kai Ren was curiously looking toward Jain Li she explained "I am sure you already know each other but let me introduce him anyway, This is Jian Li, Grand Elder Jian Wei's most talented grandson and a core disciple."

"He will be accompanying you on your journey in the outside world."

Hearing her Kai Ren nodded as he had already guessed that and turned toward Jain Li and said "I will be in your care brother Jian."

"I already told you there is no need to be so formal with me" Jian Li replied with a smile and continued "And looking at your cultivation speed I am not sure how long will you stay in my care before our roles get reversed."

"I still have a lot to learn, Brother Jian, so it will probably take a while," Kai Ren replied with a chuckle.

"Alright, you two can get buddy-buddy all you want after you are outside of the sect boundary. For now, you both should check that you have everything you are going to need," Lian Hua said while interjecting in their conversation.

"Yes, master"

"Yes, Sect master"

They both replied simultaneously.

After that, they both rechecked their storage rings for anything they might need on their journey. After making sure that everything was in its place, they made their way toward the sect gate to leave.

Naturally, Sect Master Lian Hua followed behind them, though she covered herself in a layer of her spiritual Qi to make herself invisible.

After they got out of the gate, Lian Hua gave Kai Ren a ring while saying,

"I am sure you have not spent the spirit stones I gave you last time, but still take this, It has several instant teleportation talismans, healing pills, A special alert talisman that can show us your location in case of an emergency and one million mid-grade spirit stone."

When Kai Ren heard what was inside the ring, he was surprised as one million mid-grade spirit stones were already a huge amount, not to mention the other items that were in the ring, at the moment, Kai Ren was not able to say much, so he only bowed toward his master and said "Thank you very much master for everything you've done for me"

Looking at him act like that, Lian Hua chuckled and said, "Silly child, you are sounding like we are parting ways for good."

Hearing her words, Kai Ren was stunned for a moment but then immediately replied,

"I-I didn't mean it like that"

Looking at him acting like that, both Lian Hua and Jian Li chuckled, and Lian Hua said, "I was just joking with you. a whole new world is waiting for you"

Hearing her words, Kai Ren's face got a little red from embarrassment, and he immediately turned toward Jian Li and said,

"Shall we go, Brother Jian?"
