"Father, it's me," Sofia told the person inside her identity after the knock.

"Come in," came a voice from inside the door.

After getting the reply, Sofia opened the door and went inside, gesturing toward the duo to follow her.

After Jian Li and Kai Ren went inside, they saw a middle-aged man sitting in a chair with a table full of different papers in front of him.

The man had blue eyes and golden hair, just like Sofia's, and a chiseled jaw, which made him look really charming.

One look at the man and the duo knew where Sofia got her good looks from.

When the middle-aged man saw the duo enter after Sofia, the kind smile faded from his face, and a questioning look appeared as he narrowed his eyes toward them.

When Sofia saw the questioning look and the narrowed eyes of her father, she immediately realized that her father had misunderstood the situation, so she hurriedly explained,

"Father, I missed you so much," Sofia said while she went behind the desk to give his father a quick hug from behind before continuing.

"Brother Kai, Brother Jian, meet my father, Felix Maxwell, Father Meet Brother Kai, and Brother Jian, if not for them, I would not have been alive till now."

Then Sofia went on to tell her father about her encounter with the bandits and how, if not for Jian Li's timely help, they would have lost and fallen into the bandit's hands.

Hearing her daughter's words, Felix was relieved and turned toward the duo, but this time instead of narrowed eyes, there was a face full of gratitude and said after he stood up and did a little bow toward the duo,

"Thank you, saviours, for saving my precious daughter, she is the only one I have after my wife passed away, and I can't imagine my life without her." Felix's voice was full of heartfelt gratitude.

"It's fine, we were just passing by and saw someone in need of help, so we just did that," Jian Li replied to Felix's gratitude with a polite smile, making Kai Ren to click his tongue at his shamelessness.

"No, no, it might have been an insignificant action for you, but it means a lot more than you can imagine for me," Felix still insisted even after hearing Jian Li's words, "I don't have much to give to you, but please let me allow to host you both during your stay in the city."

"Oh, Sofia already convinced us to stay here, so you do not need to worry about that," Jian Li replied to Felix's words, and Kai Ren nodded alongside him.

"Oh, is that so?" Patriah Felix said while looking at his daughter. When Sofia saw her father looking toward her, a trumpet smile appeared on her face, like she was asking for praise from her father.

Felix just chuckled at his daughter's antics and turned toward the duo, and said, "Very well, I will immediately have your rooms prepared, till then, you can go to the dining hall to eat something, you must be hungry from the travels."

"Then we will do as you say," Kai Ren replied to Felix this time.

Hearing Kai Ren's words, a smile appeared on Felix's face, and he said, "Very well, Sofia, please guide our guest to the dining hall."

Sofia, who was pouting cutely at the side after getting ignored by her father, immediately became active at the mention of her name and said, while puffing out her chest outside, "You can count on me."

Looking at Sofia's cute appearance, the trio chuckled out loud, "WHAT!" causing Sofia to shout in embarrassment.

Looking at the current condition of Sofia, Felix realized that she wouldn't be able to guide the duo, so he called the butler to take her place and guide the duo to the dining hall.

After reaching the dining hall, they were served all kinds of lavish dishes, which were amazingly tasty for them.

There were several low-grade spiritual beast's meat on the table alongside with a lot of mortal dishes, and although both of them tasted meat from higher-grade beasts before, it was not professionally cooked.

So even if it was tastier, it didn't have the same feel as the one they were eating right now. The aroma wafting from the food was so good that anyone's mouth would water up after taking a single whiff.

The cook of the food was really professional, as every bite they took from it would melt in their mouth and then burst into a tsunami of flavors.

Jian Li and Kai Ren, who were both surviving by eating boiled or roasted beast meat for the past few months, almost teared up when they tasted such delicious delicacies, though they held themselves back to not get embarrassed.

After the dinner, the duo were escorted to their separate rooms. After they reached their rooms, which were just adjacent to each other, the duo separated and went to their own rooms.

When Kai Ren opened the door, a beautiful room came in his view that made him feel like he was at peace, the room had a silk bed with beautiful woodwork done on it, and there were several different artworks placed in different parts of the room.

The room also included a balcony and a bathroom, which were exquisitely designed with luxurious materials. The balcony offered a stunning view of the city, including the magnificent Champion's Arena near the center.

The structure was even more imposing now that Kai Ren was looking at it from much closer, which made Kai Ren's anticipation grow much stronger. The distant roars of the crowd and the faint sound of metal clashing against metal, although faint, was still there.

This all made Kai Ren so excited that he started to giggle like a fool without even realizing it, and with a hand stretched toward the colossus structure, he said, "Be prepared, people, I will be coming over to take the title of the champion's from you."

By this time, the sun was already setting on the horizon, so Kai Ren decided to go to sleep.

That night, Kai Ren dreamed about winning all the matches and taking the title of champion in the arena, which caused him to giggle foolishly.

The next morning the duo woke up after a servant came to call them for breakfast. When they reached the dining room, they saw that Sofia and Felix were already sitting there. When Sofia saw the duo again, she immediately waved toward them and said,

"Brother Kai, Brother Jian, you are here, I hope you had a good sleep last night."

"Yeah, after sleeping on rocks and solid ground for several days, sleeping in a real bed was quite the experience," Jian Li replied to Sofia as he took a seat adjacent to her.

"That's good to hear," Felix said with a relieved smile.

"Anyway, let's start the breakfast," Sofia said before clapping her hands.

After Sofia clapped her hands, servants started to bring dishes to the table one after another, and soon the table was filled with all kinds of dishes.

After breakfast, Sofia asked, "Where will you go now, Brothers,"

"We will now go to the champion's arena, but before that, we will look around the city for a bit," hearing Sofia's inquiry Jian Li replied to her.

"Well, can I join you," Sofia immediately asked while giving them puppy dog eyes which made it hard for Jian Li to reject her, so he turned toward her father to ask for his opinion.

When Felix saw Jian Li looking toward him, he just nodded with a smile, and Jian Li who saw his smile turned toward the the still puppy dog eyes Sofia and said,

"Okay, you can come with us."

"YAY! This is going to be a fun trip," Sofia immediately became even more cheerful after hearing Jian Li's reply.

"Please excuse my daughter's behavior, she tends to forget her manners when she is excited," Felix said to Jian Li after he saw Sofia jumping around happily.

Hearing her father's words, Sofia immediately paused before getting back into her graceful demeanor, as if nothing had ever happened, but her red face said otherwise.

Looking at Sofia's behavior, the trio chuckled again before Kai Ren said to Felix with a light smile, "It's okay, I quite like the way she acts, it never gets boring."

But just after he said those words, the light smile on Kai Ren's face froze, and he stiffly turned toward Jian Li, and to his horror, Jian Li was standing there smiling like a devil from the deepest part of hell.

It was at this moment that Kai Ren knew he fucked up. Jian Li was never going to let him hear the end of this after what he had just said, and Kai Ren had already started to prepare for the teasing he was going to receive.

Meanwhile, Sofia, completely oblivious to what was happening around her, just got even redder at Kai Ren's words, and to cover up her embarrassment, she just said, "Let's go, it's getting late already," and started walking away from the trio.

By this time, Kai Ren had also recovered somewhat, and when he saw a chance to get out of his current situation, he hurriedly grabbed it and said, "Yeah, it's getting late, so let's go," while he started to walk toward the direction Sofia went to.

Jian Li and Felix were speechless at the duo's antics but they were also amused, so they just chuckled, after that Felix turned toward Jian Li and said, "Please take care of my daughter"

"Don't worry, sir. I will make sure no harm comes to her," Jian Li replied to him. He also started to walk in the direction Sofia and Kai Ren went.
