'Saving it for later,' Jacob mentally memorized the class' description as he closed the textbox. Being a mage sounded generic but then again, it's a typical class that you can find in any Fantasy game out there and because of that, he knew that there are caveats and benefits of picking the class: One, Mages are versatile and they are commonly used for either support, damage, or buffs- as evident by the three spells that one can pick with the class. and that's only in games where you can pick them as a class instead of a real-life scenario.

Two, Mages, even with versatile, are pretty limited because of it, and judging by the class description, Jacob knew that picking this mean that he's not gonna be specializing anytime soon- that comes with both a benefit and a detriment because if he picks correctly, then he can become the only one person to do the thing he specializes in. For example, he can potentially be just like his father if he picks the "Energy" type of mage, that is, assuming he is the first one to have that class or that everyone who has it knows almost nothing about it- thus, are unguided compared to him and his modern knowledge.

Three, mages are usually valuable in most fantasy stories, and picking it wouldn't have been a question due to the benefits he can get for being one- that is if Jacob didn't have three options of the same class, just with different flavors.

And speaking of flavors, he decided to check the Energy Mage next and was pleasantly surprised at what he saw,

Energy Mage: A rare type among the magi, energy mages are usually those who can use more than just mana to create spells, be it the sun, electricity, or even movement- everything is fair game when an energy mage wants to create a spell.

'Okay,' Jacob started pacing back and forth, 'Definitely tempting.' He thought as he stared at the contents of the textbox again. It was... definitely more than he hoped for, he expected it to be just some variant of the mage class but no, it was a different beast entirely. Getting the ability to cast spells with more than just mana is tempting enough and after another look at the text box, the amp bar is probably the manifestation of that. 'Shit.' the temptation of accepting the class got moved away as he bit his nail and read the last one.

Radiation Mage: A unique type of mage who can harness the power of ultra-deadly waves that come from various sources in order to cast spells. More often than not, the sun is enough to power such a mage but it comes with a caveat of the mage's energy being slow to regenerate.

'Aw...' Jacob thought in disappointment. Was the class tempting? No, not really, it's actually quite powerful and if anything, this must've been the result of his memory resurfacing- which, he guessed is a sign from whomever gave him this System for him to pick the class. But- even then, he really wouldn't because in the end, the class seems to be a highly specialized attack mage if her were to judge it via the offered spells. Isn't that good? Some random dumbass might ask and Jacob is gonna answer that no, not at all.

At least not compared to the energy mage- because that class is just a regular mage but infinitely better. And after reading the description of the radiation mage, he now knows that the "Bars" regenerate based on the class' specialty (UV rays from the sun and other forms of radiation in the class' case.) and because of that, Jacob is confident that the energy mage class is, if not the best one there is because he can regenerate Amp through running alone. Or just moving for that matter.

And compared to that? The promised power, stats, and whatever else of the radiation mage is just... lackluster.

'Regenerating my "bullets" faster is more important.' Jacob argued with the part of his brain that wants offensive power, 'Regeneration is important. Definitely.' And, just like that, he picked the class and felt the world turn.

When he came to, the sun was halfway through the sky and the world is now under the bright orange gleam of a typical noon every summer. He grabbed his head as he got up, as far as he can tell, nothing really happened to him, physically, he felt fine, great even, it's like he took a warm shower after a good exercise or one of those lines that Michael used to say whenever he asks him to go the gym. He never does.

It was only when he stood up did the aftereffects of his choice come- A headache made him wince and just as he thought he's gonna collapse again, it subsided, replaced by a refreshing breath of knowledge boring into his skull. Calmly, of course. The breezy feeling of getting to forcefully know something soon disappeared and Jacob can finally see what kind of spell he got from the Class and was pleasantly surprised when, as it turns out, it wasn't just one spell that was given to him, no, he got all three!

'Right, time to test things out, then.' Giddy from the feeling of getting three spells instead of one, he went to the nearby forest to try his [Bolt] spell on a tree. He stood a few feet away from it, just enough that he can land his spell and that he wouldn't get hit by the after effects- he raised his hand and after a few seconds, frowned when he realized that the spell wouldn't manifest just by simply thinking about it.

'Not unexpected? I guess?' He tried a different method, this time, he focused on the concept of [Bolt] and got nothing for a while until a crude drawing of a circle with an arrow at the center mentally appeared. For a while, he continued to picture the circle but nothing happened- it was a surprise when it suddenly activated and a yellow ball shot out of his palm.

It didn't affect the tree, no surprise there.

He saw that the bolt only costs 1 Amp after he checked how much energy he had left. He was half tempted to just go and see if he can increase it but stopped, 'Regenerating it will come later,' he thought as he raised his hand again. 'Now, where did I go wrong?'

After a while of testing, Jacob found out that all he needed to do in order to activate his spell is pour Amp into the circle and that's all he did for a little while, wondering why his [Bolt] are weak but, again, he found out that in order to make them stronger, he needed to pour more Amp into the magic circle until the thing is glowing a bright yellow. Only then did the bark cave in to his [Bolt].

Now, after exhausting all of his Amp, he's running to see if he can regenerate it by doing physical activities.

He was proven right when, not even 3 minutes into the run, his bar is already full and more than ready to supply his tests for [Shield] and [Guard]- more time passed and soon, an exhausted Jacob sat underneath the cover of a tree, further testing showed that [Shield] is exactly what it says; a simple barrier that he can place in front of him to displace attacks, power wise, he doesn't know the exact limit of the thing since its magic ate up all of his Amp when he tried to find out.

[Guard] meanwhile, costs 5 Amp to cast a mildly powerful buff that makes his body tougher. Not stronger, just... tougher. He tried punching a tree under its effects and both his fists and the tree got out unscathed.

'Now, for a final test.' Picturing [Bolt] once again, Jacob started pouring his Amp into the circle until it went down by five, it's now fully powered and wildly flailing, he wanted to just how long he can hold onto the fully powered spell.

And the answer? Ten-ish seconds, after that was just a constant headache as he held the spell in and then relief when the [Bolt] finally shot out.
