Chapter 2: Apocalypse Arrival

Chapter 2: Apocalypse Arrival

The previously peaceful sky outside rapidly darkened, as if black clouds were pressing down, shrouding the entire blue sky and plunging the world into darkness.

It was as if the Earth had released some sort of gas, destroying and rebuilding the entire ecosystem and food chain!

Roars, screams, and shouts echoed throughout the entire city of Nanshi!

The campus of South City University was filled with despair and cries, and the entire place fell into a deathly silence.

All electronic devices were completely paralyzed, and everything in sight was shrouded in darkness!

Renault gripped the **Zhanmadao** in his hand, cold sweat trickling down his forehead. Even though he had already experienced the apocalypse once before, seeing it again still stirred a deep sense of fear in his heart.

This wasn’t some childish game; what was happening was far more real and far more bloody than anyone could imagine!

Putting the now-useless brick-like phone back into his pocket, Renault sneered:

"Come on! This time, I’ll seize the initiative. I will claim my place among the apocalypse's strongest!"

In his previous life, Renault was an unknown figure, just a small fry at the Gold level.

But having lived again, Renault would never walk the same old path. He was determined to become strong enough to face the even more terrifying threats ahead!

He lay on his bed, while the sounds outside the dormitory gradually grew louder.

**Bang, bang, bang!**

The sounds of knocking and terrifying zombie roars filled the air.

Renault remained still, quietly waiting for the world to settle down.

He walked over to the window, looking out at the dormitory building. Zombies were already roaming the streets, devouring anyone in sight. Anyone bitten would be turned within 24 hours, becoming a new zombie.

This was why zombie hordes were so terrifying: you could never kill them all, like weeds that keep growing back no matter how many times you cut them down.

"Fortunately, the zombies haven’t evolved yet. They’re just the lowest-tier Black Iron zombies, only able to detect humans through heat sensing."

Renault muttered to himself as he moved two large cabinets that were blocking the dorm door, revealing a gap wide enough for one person to pass through.

Perhaps the noise was too loud, and the zombies in the hallway heard it, rushing towards the door, their sharp, clawed hands banging against the iron door.

**Bang! Bang! Bang!**

Renault kicked the iron door open, crushing two zombies under it.

"My strength… it’s almost on par with an early-stage Strength Evolver! I can’t believe I have this much power!"

Renault murmured to himself, but he didn’t lose focus. Outside the gap in the door, a crowd of zombies was already swarming!

**Swish!**

With a gurgling sound, the head of a zombie was sliced clean off by Renault’s **Zhanmadao**!

**Ding! Congratulations to the host for killing a Black Iron zombie! 1 point of experience gained!**

Huh???

Renault was momentarily stunned. He hadn’t expected to gain experience points from killing zombies. That meant he could level up quickly!

His eyes narrowed as he raised his **Zhanmadao** and slashed again, cutting down the zombies crowded at the door with ease.

"Help! Help! Bro, save me!"

A guy in the dorm across the hall saw Renault’s ferocity, effortlessly dispatching zombies with a few swings of his sword, and immediately called out for help.

Renault ignored him. In this current situation, he could barely protect himself, let alone have the energy to save others.

After throwing the bodies of the fallen zombies out the window, Renault glanced back just in time to see the guy being pulled off his bed by his "roommate."

"I need to clear the zombies in the hallway first, then I can leave the campus."

With this in mind, Renault strapped a pack of supplies to his back and charged out of the room, slashing through the zombies in his way.

With the sharpened **Zhanmadao** in hand, Renault began to adjust to his new body’s strength, swinging the blade with increasing frequency and precision.

One by one, the zombies in front of him fell, while a constant stream of notifications rang in his ears.

**Ding! Congratulations to the host for killing two Black Iron zombies! 2 points of experience gained!**

**Ding! Congratulations to the host for killing one Black Iron zombie! 1 point of experience gained!**

**Ding! Congratulations to the host for leveling up! You are now level 2! 5 free attribute points gained!**

Free attribute points?

Renault thought for a moment and decided to allocate all his points to strength. Right now, strength would help him the most!

After adding 5 points to strength, Renault immediately felt his tired arms surging with renewed vigor.

It was like taking a shot of liquor, his blood flowing smoothly and powerfully through his veins.

With a low growl, Renault’s face broke into a wild grin. He raised the **Zhanmadao** and charged forward.

The zombies in front of him were like ripe cabbages in a field, waiting to be harvested!

"Bro—no, Dad—please save me!"

"Save me! I’ll give you 300,000! How much do you want? I’ll give you anything!"

"Help me! I don’t want to die here! I’ll give you anything you want!"

All around Renault, cries for help echoed. The students hid behind the iron doors of their dorms, too scared to come out, watching Renault slaughter zombies from afar.

In times of disaster, the true nature of people is revealed.

Renault knew this well. None of these people had the courage to fight alongside him. He had no intention of carrying these burdens with him.

With both hands gripping the **Zhanmadao**, he slashed again and again, each strike slicing perfectly through the zombies’ throats.

Heads flew through the air, with black, rotten blood spraying everywhere.

"Damn it! I don’t want to die here!"

Seeing Renault getting closer to the staircase, a student named Guo Haoyu couldn’t hold back any longer. He grabbed a power bar from his dorm and rushed out.

"Haoyu, what are you doing? Don’t you want to live?"

"Just wait a bit longer, isn’t that fine? Don’t go!"

"Get back here! If you don’t come back, I... I’ll lock the door!"

His roommates frantically called him back, their voices filled with panic. Some were even ready to lock Guo Haoyu out.

Guo Haoyu swung the power bar hard at a zombie’s head.

**Bang!**

A zombie’s skull exploded, spraying red and white matter everywhere. Guo Haoyu was elated—he realized he could do it too!

"Watch your back!"

Renault’s voice rang out just in time, calm and cold.

Guo Haoyu quickly turned around and swung the power bar again, hitting a zombie on the shoulder and successfully pushing it back a few feet.

"The weak point is the head!"

Renault decapitated another zombie and gave another reminder.

To Renault, this guy seemed like he had potential.

After all, in his previous life, Renault didn’t overcome his fear and kill his first zombie until the third day of the apocalypse.

**Bang!**

With another powerful swing, Guo Haoyu smashed the zombie’s head, getting covered in red and white gore in the process.

With Renault and Guo Haoyu’s combined efforts, the hallway was cleared of zombies.

But the most dangerous area wasn’t inside the building—it was outside.

Renault pried open the hallway’s fire cabinet and pulled out two fire axes.

Weighing one in his hand, he tossed one to Guo Haoyu before heading toward the stairs.

"Thank you."

Guo Haoyu picked up the fire axe and followed Renault, ready to fight the zombies outside.
