Hi, my name is Emily and this is my story.
My life isn’t really sad or nothing special, I didn’t had a poor childhood nor a rich one. I'm nothing above an average girl, although I do believe that I'm a little wiser than the people of my own age ( Btw, I'm 18 ), also i live in a nice neighborhood and have two lovely parents that raised me well.
Since little, because of the influence of my two brothers, I loved playing online games, reading mangá, watching animes and reading fantasy novels, but when you grow up around those kind of things you start thinking that real life is a little too boring, thus the reason of why I was so excited when it was announced that a virtual reality game was being released.
Royal Road was everything that I asked for. It was my chance to live an exciting life and do whatever the fuck I wanted!
I immediately started asking to my parents if I could buy it. At first they didn't let me pre-order it because it was too expensive, but with constant nagging and the fact that I rarely ask for money (yes, I AM a frugal person, if you are neither rich nor poor you kind of naturally learn how not to waste money) they allowed me to buy it.
So, that was it, I had 2 months to get ready to it. Usually that’s when people start to magically learn a martial art, at least in the ffs that I usually read, but that’s never going to happen to me honey. I’m naturally blessed with the gift of being terrible at sports, so I do what I am good at. I start reading about the game.
Being the lazy ass that I am, I use the computer for more than half of my day, and when you do that you come into contact with some weeeeeeeeeeeeird forums where people have information they shouldn’t have and that’s where I researched about RR.
In those forums I learned what I needed, like repeating an action in game would grant you a skill that made that action more efficient, that constant activity grants bonus status and that actually being good and understand what you`re doing makes you better at it. An example would be using a sword to attack, if you actually know how to use one you can land critical hits and attack using your own patterns, but if you don’t know how to use one your attacks are completely guided by the system, making them predictable and inefficient because you’re not able to focus on the weak points of your opponent.
There wasn’t a lot of info to find in the forums, so it actually only took me some hours to learn those things, but with them I realized what I wanted to do in game and what I would need to do. I would be a magic user, and I would need to read a lot in-game about how magic works if I wanted to be good at it. Thaaaaank God I love reading, especially about magic and since it is something that actually is of my interest I’d have fun doing it.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
While waiting for those 2 months to pass I talked to my RL best friend about Royal Road, that bitch apparently had already ordered for her own capsule and would be playing with her girlfriend…
That fucking backstabber! I was expecting to at least to be able to count on her, but no, I wouldn’t be able to. Seems like I’ll be flying solo on this one.
(Her name is Jennifer btw, people usually call her Jenn but for some unknown reason I never call people by their nickname, it’s not that I don’t like to do it, I simply don’t and usually I only realize about it when people complain)
2 months later…
OMG!! It's finally here. My capsule arrived a few days before the release and I got to say, I was a little surprised about it, when I imagined it I thought it would be something like a neuro-helmet or whatever not a motherfucking giant thingy! Gladly there was a little room in my house’s backyard and that’s where it was installed.
In those few days before the game servers started I read the manual, there wasn’t much on it, most of it was actually about how to install the capsule, but who would be crazy enough to try to install that giant thing on their own?
Anyway, the manual also had some basic info about the stats that everyone knows and what most interested me, the information about the races. I was little sad about, I had pictured me as a sexy female demon, but unfortunately that race wasn’t available at the release, so I had to choose between human, elf or dwarf.
I wasn’t really interested about humans, if I wanted to be one I’d live my own life, not play a game. Elf would be ideal since I wanted to be something involving magic, but really? Elf? I`m already a girl, being an elf would be sooooo cliché. So it was settled, I’d be a dwarf. I also wanted to be good at crafting anyway. I know they are penalized when casting magic, but what I have in mind isn’t exactly casting (Ahahahahahaha! AAAAAAAhahahahaha! If you don’t get it, it’s a female villain laugh from animes, google it).
