“Leader, we’ve found the location of a group of goblins.”
A scout in a green outfit reported to a man in silver knight armor. The man’s golden locks flowed behind his head as he was cleaning his sword.
Looking at the green scout with his serene blue eyes he calmly asked, “What level is their leader?”
“It seems to be a shaman, sir.” The scout calmly replied.
“Just a shaman, then this should be easy.”
They were an adventurer group who took missions from the Adventurer’s Guild and in return, they got paid for their work.
The Adventurer’s Guild had a hierarchy of members. The hierarchy showed not only the strength of the members but also the missions they were allowed to accept.
The guild would not allow a group of bronze members to accept a mission meant only for diamond members. Not only would it send the bronze members to a faster death but it also lowered the guild’s reputation itself.
Each failed mission was a stain that they would rather avoid.
This group of 5 was classified as a silver team. A rank just above bronze, although they were not the best they were also not the worst. Silver members accepted more difficult tasks than bronze members but they were awarded more.
They had accepted a mission to clean up a band of goblins that were causing trouble to nearby human villages. Those villages had guards, but the guards had trouble protecting the villages from the shaman.
They were currently in a nearby village that faced harassment from the goblins. These villages had pooled together 5 gold, using it as a reward for the Adventurer’s Guild to get someone to clean up the goblins.
The Adventurer’s Guild took a 20% cut off the mission reward, so the original 5 gold was only 4 if the team completed the mission.
Although they were dissatisfied with it, they had no say in the matter. The guild leaders were too strong and it's not like they were the only ones suffering.
The guild took the same cut-off of members who were bronze to platinum. Once you were diamond and above the cut they would take decreases.
The man in silver knight armor gathered his group consisting of him a [Knight], the green scout who was a [Ranger], a girl who was wearing a priestess outfit was unsurprisingly a [Priest], a gloomy-looking man was a [Shadow Priest], and the last member who wore no upper clothing was a [Berserker].
It was a very balanced team, the knight protected the priests, the berserker would fight the enemies, and the priests would give blessings to the party while also doing damage.
This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
While the ranger would support the team and assassinate the enemy leader if possible.
“Okay team, we’re going to head out towards the goblin’s camp during nighttime.”
“Goblins usually sleep during the night, and wouldn’t expect an ambush.”
As the silver knight formalized their plan, they waited for the dead of night where they would launch their attack against the goblins.
…
While that was happening, Thronie was currently in a state of confusion. It had already reached Level 5.
All it had to do was sit back and lay back while the XP flowed to him, although in this case someone has to sit and lay back on its body.
The reason for his confusion was he didn’t know what he should spend his available upgrade points on.
[Spend 1 point to upgrade Magical Seat to lvl 2]
[Spend 10 points to upgrade Geb’s Blessing to lvl 2]
Not only was that confusing but he also had another prompt.
[Gamble 5 points to get a random ability]
The life of being a chair was quite hard. He had 10 points but he didn’t know if he should risk something unknown or upgrade something he already knows.
Gritting his nonexistent teeth he chose to upgrade [Magical Seat] to lvl 2.
[Magical Seat has leveled up]
[Spend 5 points to upgrade Magical Seat to lvl 3]
Seeing the new cost almost made him swear, he had already mastered multiple languages due to [Geb’s Blessing]. He could combine a few curse words that would make a nun cry.
Now left with 9 points Thronie chose to… gamble for a random ability!
Statistically 99% of gamblers quit before they make it big. So Thronie would naturally not miss the chance of a dopamine rush.
As he watched the roulette spin, he couldn’t help but pray.
“Please Geb give me a good ability.”
If Geb heard his prayer he would slap the throne to pieces, who would pray to a snake god just because they were gambling. How unreasonable! Did it think the Almighty Geb was the god of gambling?
When the roulette finally stopped spinning it landed on an ability that Thronie had never seen before.
[Congratulations you unlocked the ability (Inducement)]
“Open status panel.”

His ability [Magical Seat] got a new ability, Increased Damage. It was completely useless for him but quite useful for the person sitting on him.
The new ability that he got [Inducement] was the perfect ability for him. It compelled their desire to sit on him. He had no idea how he would get EXP if somebody wasn’t sitting on him, so this ability saved him quite a bit of trouble.
His happiness was soon washed through.
[Spend 50 points to gamble for a new ability]
Thronie could only be speechless when he saw the new prompt. 50 points, it would be some time before he could gather 50 points. As whenever he leveled up he only earned 2 points.
Luckily as a throne, he had all the time in the world, he was free from mortal troubles like aging.
A problem that he had noticed was that the shaman who usually sat on top of him was not giving him 5 EXP anymore. The EXP he was receiving was actually decreasing.
[EXP: +4]
[EXP: +4]
It seems that as he leveled up the amount of EXP he received also decreased. He assumed it was because as he got stronger the benefits he earned from the shaman also decreased. If that was the case he could only find a new host.
