Chapter 2

Log #6

I didn't get a good look at them, but my comparison to a swarm of bees doesn't seem far from reality. They were bunched so closely together most of the time that it seemed like just a black mass, barely being kept in the general shape of a dome. combined they were about 4 meters tall, starting to brush against some of the longer stalactites, with a radius of about eight meters. Wherever they passed was stripped of moss, and countless scrape marks were left behind on the stone. The way they moved made it seem like they were looking for something, if they were, it wasn't found. There were some close calls but they hadn't found me, after some time they left through the crack on the other end of the cave. I'm writing this while walking, it's too uncomfortable a thought to stop with the possibility of those things turning around. I fashioned a satchel out of my shirt, so I can bring every thing I might need with me. My current stock of supplies is: x3 of those fist sized rocks, the stalactite, as much of the glowing moss as I could carry, and of course this notebook and the pencil.

Log #7

I don't know how long I've been walking, but there have been no noticeable turns so it seems to be a relatively straight line. My legs are starting to get tired, and the noise of the swarm is long gone. I think it's about time to rest.

Log #8

I found an alcove, I've decided to rest here for now. I hadn't noticed before but the walls don't have any marks or dents from the swarm, either the stone is stronger than the stuff from the cavern, or, the swarm left the walls in the path alone for some reason, either way I'm starting to feel hungry and thirsty. I'm tempted to try eating the moss, but for the time being I've decided against it, since it could be poisonous. I'll save it as a last resort. Water is going to quickly become an issue, unless, I return to the cavern. If I'm to explore, I need to find a way to store water. Perhaps I could try soaking my socks? I'm reluctant to backtrack, but I'm going to need water, and the cavern is the only area that has had it so far.

Log #9

I ventured a bit further down the path in hopes of finding reason to not have to go back, sadly there's been no luck, but, I found something fascinating when I returned. When I had left to go down the path, some moss had fallen from my satchel and been left in the alcove, and now that I'm back it seems to have, grown? Whether it's grown or not, I don't know, but when I start heading back to the cavern I'm gonna leave some of the moss in the alcove as a test. If the test yields good results, and the moss turns out to not be poisonous, I might end up with a good source of food.

Log #10

I'm heading back to the cavern, let's hope the swarm is completely gone.
