Self Diagnostic

The stranger stood there, their attention on the dead body lying next to me. I heard the same question being asked again as the strangers’ head turned towards me. When both of our eyes met, I was mesmerized by the glistening emerald eyes hiding under the hood. My breath was stopped short when I noticed the irises weren't round but instead similar to a cat's. Probably it was just instinct, my right hand clenched tightly on the gun handle and my finger on the trigger.

She removed her hooded cloak, revealing a red and gold v-neck dress then she proceeded to make her way over to me.

“Hey, are you alright? Did that bad man do anything to you?”

She asked with a worried look on her face and I shook my head in response. She let out a breath of relief then knelt in front of me. I stared curiously at her and without warning she grabbed both of my arms and inspected them thoroughly. I had to let go of my sidearm to avoid unnecessary questions just as I was just about to ask her what she was doing...

“Good, there is no sign of “Slave Mark” on you. You are one lucky girl.”

The cat girl let out a light chuckle as she lifted both my arms up and slid her robes on me. She got up, took one of my and pulled me up. She proceeded to chant something in a foreign tongue and I found myself being wrapped in a bright white light which quickly dispersed.

“There! All clean!”

She chirped happily and made her way back out of the wagon. Before leaving the wagon she spun around towards me.

“When you are all set, I’ll be out here waiting with my party by the campfire.”

I nodded in reply as she disappeared. It felt almost like an eternity had gone by as I stood in the wagon stunned at the events that had transpired.

“Wait a minute, this is no time to dawdle. I need to assess my situation pronto.”

I immediately pulled out my ‘Command Tablet’ to do a diagnostic however I was met with a grave message. My heart sank.

Hold up. I double checked what was displayed on my tablet screen a second time just to make sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me. I proceeded to clicked on the ‘Secondary Avatar’ just to see what it entails.

[Secondary Avatar: Your main core had assimilated with the soul that this body belonged to. All her skills and memories are stored in your main core.]

I looked at ‘Secondary Avatar’ once more and I began to fear that my calculation is off. I also began to fear that New Earth is no longer accessible with my power since I cannot connect with anyone back home.

“What should I do next? It's been over a century since I last remembered the feeling of having flesh, bone and a brain. However I still feel no different at all back in cyberspace”

I sighed and stored my tablet away while making my way out of the wagon. As soon as I exited the wagon, I looked at my surroundings and noticed that I was in a thick forest. I made my way over to the campfire to my left and found the cat girl sitting next four other people, which I assumed were her companions. She noticed me and started waving at me to come over. I hesitated at first but knowing that the group here were my rescuers, it would be rude to idle any longer. I walked over while still on guard.
