Identical faces, Different Souls. One Goal

“This place? It can’t be..”

Eliza had a dumbstruck look on her face as she stood in the dimly lit corridor. In front of her were lifeless bodies sprawled throughout the floor. She moved, walking past the bodies, and reached a blast door riddled with bullet holes and burn marks.

Beneath a flashing red light, Eliza noticed one of the bodies lying near a security scanner on the left. The body was dressed differently from the others.

Eliza knelt down and searched it, finding an ID card and a ‘Coat of Arms’. Upon closer inspection she realized these people were the ‘Elite Guards’ who were tasked with protecting the entrance of the boss room. Standing back up, she placed the ID card on top of the scanner which flashed green. The door gave out a hissing sound as it slowly opened. Without hesitation, Eliza saw a decent opening and slid right through to the other side.

“I did not expect you to enter ‘here’ so soon.”

Eliza hear a voice speaking to her as she entered. While scanning for the source of the voice, the first thing she noticed was the amount of display screens covering the entire space within the room. Her eyes narrowed as she spotted a figure in the center covered by the screens. Eliza made her approach and as she got closer, the display screen surrounding the figure gradually disappeared, unveiling a silver hair beauty. At first glance, she guessed that the girl was roughly 16 years of age and estimated at a height of 5’6. She has fair skin and a petite body, her breast was roughly the size of a B-Cup with room for growth. Eliza noted that the girl’s facial structure resembles that of a European and her irises were emerald.

“Hm? Is there something on my face? You are awfully staring at me hard with that look of yours.”

Eliza immediately withdrew her entire body backwards, realizing that she was enamored by the aura coming out from the person in front of her.

“D-dangerous. What the hell was that?”

Eliza muttered as she slowly regained her senses. If she were to describe the events that transpired, it felt like she was being lured in by a vitality eating demon to be devoured. Shaking off the thought she needed some answers. Eliza, locking eye contact with the girl in front of her began her rounds of questions.

“Who are you and where is ‘this place’?”

The girl looked around and gave a short shrug.

“I don’t recognize anything here, so I would assume that this is something that you formed based on your memories.”

Then the girl raised her finger in front of lip and as if she realized something.

“OH! I remember something that my mother told me when I was young. I think she calls a place like this ‘Spiritual Realm’. But it doesn’t feel like one that she described to me ...But why isn’t my place being formed. I do not like this place at all.. It’s dark and eerie. I hate it…wait a minute...”

Her voice trailed off with a hint of sadness. Realizing something was amiss the girl recovered as she looked at Eliza with hostility in her eyes.

“Now, it’s my turn to ask some questions. Who are you and why do you look like me?”

Eliza, confused at what she was asking shot back at the girl.

“What? I’m Eliza, what do you mean I look like you!? You didn’t even answer my first question!”

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

Ignoring the last sentence, the girl tossed a mirror to Eliza for her to catch. Eliza, now looking at the mirror she saw an identical reflection staring back at her. Looking at the girl and the mirror again, she finally came to the realization that not only her gender changed but none of her created persona took form like she had originally thought. Thinking back to the necklace she found.

“Could it be that you are Angelica? And under some circumstances I ended up in your body?”

Both Eliza and the girl named Angelica stared at each other still in disbelief. After spending some hours recalling the events prior they both managed to conclude that they both their souls are sharing one body. Angelica feeling a bit frustrated at a certain truth.

“But it still doesn’t make sense that I can’t return to my body. I mean my consciousness is still here but I can’t feel the link.”

Eliza, noticing the depressed tone coming out of Angelica tried to cheer her up.

“Well Angelica, from what you told me; you have the ‘Vetris Beloved Child’ title meaning the goddess loved you so if we hit the church and establish contact, she might know of a way to fix this.”

Eliza bit more off than she could chew as she learned a few more shocking intel from Angelica.

“Not enough time, I need to quickly reclaim my kingdom to save my mother from being disgraced.”

Angelica now huddled with her arms wrapped around her knee began sobbing.

“This is all my fault…. All my fault for being the weakest ‘Saint’. My father’s dead, I’m scared of losing my mother. I don’t know what I should do. I’m running out of options.”

Eliza sighed as she grabbed Angelica by the arm to lift her back up, followed with a hard slap to the cheek.

“Angelica, snap out of it. As long as I am here, I promise you. I will do whatever I can and whatever it takes to keep you and your mother safe from everyone that is hostile.”

Eliza cupped both her hands onto Angelica’s cheeks as she brought her face close to hers.

“Are you willing to stick with me to the end even if it means turning against the entire society that has forsaken you and your mother?”

Wiping her tears off of her cheek with her thumbs, Angelica gave the answer Eliza was hoping for. She stared straight back into Eliza's eyes.

“Yes, even if it means I’m selling my soul off to the demon I will offer all of me to you.”

Eliza feeling a bit uncomfortable at this anti-saint turnabout quickly located the function she was looking for.

“Whoa now, you can keep all of you to yourself, I just need you to hit yes when a box appears in front of you.”

Angelica tilted her head sideways in confusion only to be started when a box appeared out of thin air in front of her.

[You have been invited to join a Division! Yes/No]

On Eliza's end she heard a bell sound indicating that Angelica joined, wasting no time she gave Angelica a quick five minute rundown of the functions that is shared between them.

“So, while all of what I said are theories but once you see something or hear something send me a message through the ‘Command Tablet’ duplicate I gave you. Currently I am able to use basic ‘Saint’ skills but whatever skills were unlocked for you, I have no way to unlock them.”

Angelica nodded while taking in information she never heard off without losing her mind. Eliza continued with the rundown.

“I gave you authorization to my inventory so take out some of the ‘firearms’ and train yourself. The higher the proficiency the better passive buff for each firearm type equates to how accurate you can shoot without missing. Don’t worry about the other locked skills on my end, I have a hunch this is your goddess' doing.”

Eliza pulled up the settings menu for the “Division” and switched Angelica’s rank to ‘Vice-Commander’

On Angelica’s side a bell sound startled her as another box appeared.

[You have been promoted to ‘Vice-Commander’]

Not looking up, Eliza explained to Angelica that the ‘Vice-Commander’ job entails the management of troops and resources. Angelica tilted her head sideways indicating she wasn’t getting it. Eliza sighed and used royal authority as an example instead.

As both Angelica and Eliza started to settle down, Eliza suddenly stood up while looking up at the never ending empty ceiling.

“Looks like my time is up here, dammit. Guess I'll save the story of my world till next time. But are you sure you are fine if I impersonate you ‘out there’?”

Angelia nodded as Eliza looked back at her.

“It’s fine after hearing the gist of your power, if it’s you then I have no worries. I’ll recover in here in the meantime while you do what you do best. Until next time Eliza, I wish you luck and pray Vetris for your safety.”

With courtesy from Angelica, Eliza vanished from the room leaving her alone. The first thing she did was pulled out the Glock 18C that Eliza had suggested and started firing the sidearm onto a wall in the room. After emptying one magazine, Angelica laughed which echoed throughout the room.

“Eliza, your very existence might tip the current power struggles and many would want to exploit your power for their own gains.”
