As the cloth covering the cage was removed, the occupants squinted their eyes upwards to see their savior. Before them stood a blood-soaked girl, her attire closely resembles to that of a “Saint”. Frightened by the quantity of blood stains throughout her robe, they cowered into the back of cage. The girl sighed as she knelt in front of the cage trying to comfort the frightened folks.

“H-hey. Look! I mean you guys no harm.”

I put away both my Glock and my BC Axe back in my inventory and lifted my two hands up in front of me. Using this method, I hope they would get the message that I am a friend not a foe. I noticed a fox eared girl looking at my gesture with curiosity and as if she had realized what it meant, she made her way to the front of the cage. I could tell she was being cautious when she got there, then started speaking to me.

“I have to apologize on behalf of my friends, the blood stains that’s on your robe startled them.”

I nodded my head, but even so I know not of a method to remove these stains so I can roughly guess why they reacted like that. Seeing how they were locked in that cage, I immediately thought about locating the key to set them free. A ping sound went off in my head and I caught sight of a white silhouette outline that shaped like a key on the ground next to me. The key must have been lying on the cloth and when I yanked it dropped with the momentum, I exerted on the pulling force.

“Hold on a sec, I’m going to get the key to open the lock.”

The fox girl nodded in reply as I bent down to pick up the key. Locating the highlighted keyhole, I inserted the key and turned it. I heard a klick indicating the lock has been released, I pulled the cage wide door open allowing the captives to exit the cage.  After everyone got out, they started heading East with the fox girl leading in front. I followed them and after walking for about 15 minutes we reached another camp, this time with two corpses straggling aimlessly. Before I could act, the fox girl quickly disposed them by severing their heads from the body. I managed to catch a glimpse of her weapon; my mouth gaped as I saw her grown nails that were longer from their normal length.

“With just her nails.”

I muttered, still shocked at what I saw. I noticed that the fox girl and her friends started going through what I assumed were their belongs. Finding their clothes, they began to undress, I immediately went towards the carriage that was parked between the campfire and the tree to give them some privacy While they were busy, I decided to check my inventory

After confirming all my weapons are still in their respective slots, the ‘Vetris Beloved Child’ set piqued my interest.

After getting enough data on the set and my current equipment, I pulled up my ‘Inventory Menu’

After going through each item and made sure nothing was missing, I closed the inventory screen and headed on over check if they were done changing. As I turned the corner from the side of the carriage, the fox girl and company were loading the cargos onto the carriage which I later realized belonged to them.  The catkin of the group nervously spoke up to me as the other members boarded the carriage.

“Do you mind if you come with us to the next village? It’ll take us at least four days to get there. We are going to report this incident to the Adventurers Guild.”

“I don’t mind actually, there’s something I need to do there.

That was a flat lie, my true intention is to slip away from the carriage as soon as we near the village. There’s a lot of things I need to figure out and running into this group and their transportation was by pure luck.

“By the way, cat girl. Do you know if there is a library or temple there? Ah…”

I realized a mistake I made when I saw the catkin girl pouting. The catkin does not like being called that, however she replied with a displeased tone.

“A library? No. but there is a temple there. I can guide yo-...”

“I appreciate the gesture, but I think I can manage.”

I cut her off midway through after getting the intel I needed. With that I formulated a plan which can be executed when the time is right. For now, I need to endure the four days of traveling in a medieval horse drawn carriage. Just as a precaution I took out my Glock 18C and rested my eyes since I felt tired and exhausted. The fight against the bandit boss took a heavy toll on me then again, I am in a physical body... I am no longer made up of data. So, I decided to take extra precautions in future fights.

“My weapons will be used when I absolutely need them.’

I silently muttered as my consciousness drifted away indicating I am asleep.
