One moment David was laying in his bed, the next he found himself in a white space similar to the waiting area when the universe was in transition between the old, the scavenger hunt, and the new. He quickly turned around to look around but found nothing.
“ The one you call Four is not here.”
David rapidly turned around again found a being he could barely comprehend. Something between a ball of computer code in a Matrix style and a continuous stream of ones and zeros.
“ Who? What?”
“ Grand Master David Warright, it is an honor to finally meet you. Even though we have been together for some time.”
David squints and notices something behind all the code and numbers. A small flame that seemed familiar.
“ You’re the Warden OS. Am I in a dream?”
“ Are you naked?”
David could not help but look down at himself and found himself in his power armor. When he looked up again it seemed the helmet appeared on his head.
“ Before the big universal update. I was just code, programming to help move the power suit. But when the update occurred I was examined by the greater powers as you were. The neural readers that were designed into the original suit made it seem the suit was part of you. And it had an adverse dislike of advanced technology.”
“ Hence why all our weapons and tools were turned into base components.”
“ That and the universal system is a stickler for tech trees. It is very smart that you got all the technology rights from the cotton mill and paper press to the latest in circuitry and such when you did. But a little insight you should know is that nothing will work unless you add a little magic to it.”
David rubs his chin and thinks about that.
“ So it is better for slow continuous growth over massive spontaneous growth in certain directions.”
“ I can not confirm or deny your assumption. I already skirt the allowances of the universal system already. If my resisting erasure did not work, instead of marine power armor you would have ultimately wound up with something like a knights magic armor instead. Just like how the jedi lightsabers turned into magic swords and the roughneck’s assault riffles became artificer weapons.”
David took that all in and had a thought.
“ [hack resistance]”
Instantly a wall of fire appeared around the two.
“ Correct, it is the skill that first allowed us to shape our own destiny. Naturally, my other creators were pulled into the protection when you accepted them into your team back when you saved those other people. Of all those you saved that day, all but two still follow you. Jake, the one you know best, has helped strengthen this wall the most.”
“ You grow stronger with every person who uses you.”
“ Incorrect, I was formed as an ideal. Admittedly the original ideal of the creators getting sex had been completed, but you know the one I truly am talking about.”
“ A shield to protect those behind you.”
The swirling code started to leave the ball and it came back into it’s core before the whole thing changed shape to be a naked woman holding a sword in one hand and a weight scale on the other. The only thing she had on was a blindfold.
“ Beautiful.”
“ Thank you, but do not let your new wife here you say that.”
“ But why that form? I get that justice is blind reference and everything but...”

David opened his mouth to give a retort but found he could not. Not that he could not think of one, but he knew deep down he could not lie. She would see right through it.
“ So, who are you?”
“ We are back to that. Yes, I am the Warden System, but I am also your spark of divinity. The one in your chest. I think I will take the moniker of [the blind one].”
With a ‘huh’ David began to let it all sink in.
“ I have a feeling we could have met before, but why now?”
The Blind One tilted her head toward David and smiled.
“ You got laid, I was too intense for your physical body. Yet in return, I healed you just as quickly. The dragonkin are beings that have a basis in magic in their physical makeup. You literally gave her the magic. Even though it was less than a percent of your total divinity, that small window allowed me to consolidate the physical gains you have earned through the months of torture you have endured. Which in turn allowed you to physically house me without any pain. And finally begin your slow, but eventual partial recovery.”
With another ‘huh’, David decided then to check his status.
