Chapter 7
A small 9 year old boy with purple ears, and a tail was seen running through the halls of a large manor. Following, the boy was a girl that could only be described as cat like. She had two black ears that popped out from under her white hair, and a tail that was about 1 head long. Currently, she was chasing Felix as she had done for the past week since they had arrived in Aistibal.
' FELIX PLEASE LET ME DO MY JOB WHY DO YOU ALWAYS RUN FROM ME.'
' The clothes they itch, everyday you put them on me and it just makes me feel weird.'
If one were to see the two a vein could be seen appearing on the girls head.
' Felix if you don’t stop this second I'm going to get lady Melony to come and help me.'
This made Felix gulp. She had called Melony the second day they had arrived when the girl was first assigned as his maid. He still had bad memories of that day, Melony hit him on the head with some kind of stick everytime he tried running away.
' F-fine just don’t call Melony please Shilandra I'll stop.'
Coming to a stop he turned around to see Shilandra looking at him with a beaming smile of victory. Shilandra was the maid assigned to him, she was to be with him at all times and help him throughout the day. She was also the one teaching him felician although he is still having trouble with it. She stopped in front of him and started to put on his clothes, it was a simple white with black pants to follow. After she was through she looked towards him and spoke to him out loud.
" So Felix what would you like to do today, we still have another week before Sir Von Heister comes back from his meeting and teaches you to meditate."
I tried making out her words and got most of it at least I thought.
" Go town explore want to have fun."
Expecting this answer Shilandra let out a sigh and went to grab the coin purse Sir Von Heister left for him. Honestly she had no idea why a Duke like Sir Heister took in this boy, but she did not question it and truthfully he was starting to grow on her.
" Well then Felix lets go there should be a carriage out front we can take."
" Let go"
He responded excitedly.
Running after Shilandra he followed her to the front of the manor where a red carriage was waiting for them. She gave the driver some instructions and soon both boarded, after they had gotten on it only took a few moments before they were off. They were riding for approximately 10 minutes before the city came into view, he could see the tall buildings here and there they amazed him when he first arrived. They still do just not to the same extent, he spotted the area they were going too and it made him smile it was the market.
They stopped in front of the market that was busy with people, getting off the carriage Shilandra had to immediately hold Felix's hand so he wouldn't bolt off without her. Felix had come here 3 times before already, but this place was great always new things to see and purchase. After Shilandra was done giving instructions to the driver they started walking towards the market.
' Felix calm yourself you look like a rabid cat looking for prey.'
' Shilandra look do you see it, the shop over there selling weapons. Look there's one selling hides there. Amazing isn't it.'
She couldn't help but smile at this, he was like a child seeing the world for the first time everytime they came here.
Shilandra followed Felix towards a stall that had caught his eye, they were selling accessory's. She could hear the rugged voice of the man in charge of the stall.
" Get yer accessory's here we got it all, necklaces, rings, and even braclets. Come get yer accessory's."
Walking up to the stall Felix was amazed at all the jewels and different designs he could see. Soon enough the stall owner looked there way and started trying to sell them something.
" Oh those are lovers rings, you have a good eye there boy how about it their only 20 gold."
Felix heard lovers rings and 20 gold he immediately turned to Shilandra and gave her a big smile, she could only sigh inwardly she knew what that ment. Taking out 20 gold she handed it to the stall owner, 5 gold ridiculous honestly 100 copper is 1 silver 50 silver is 1 gold and 25 gold is 1 platinum. Most people would never make over 1 gold in their lifetime but, this shameless man selling rings for 5 gold ugh but I could not argue, after all Sir Heister told her to buy Felix what he wanted. After all that’s why he left the boy 20 platinum to spend, currently there was 19 platinum and 5 gold left on the first 2 days Felix had bought 15 gold's worth of food. It was amazing how he put the food down I kept wondering where it went in that stomach of his.
"Take care of those rings boy, there magic rings. Once you put it on and your lover puts it on, you'll be bound forever body and soul."
I repeated what the shopkeeper said to Felix through his mind as some of the words the shopkeeper used I had not taught Felix yet. Once he learned that again a beaming smile appeared on his face, magic was a mystery to this boy he wanted to learn so badly but, I cannot teach him Sir Heister specifically told me no matter how badly he ask do not teach him. From what I understood Sir Heister wanted to teach Felix himself although I do not quite understand the reason behind that.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Soon we heard a horn play and my face went pale immediately I knew that horn, and it wasn't good for Felix. The horn played every month on the 14th day it was the announcement of sorts that the slave market would be starting its auction. The slave market I did not want to expose Felix to this I knew he had seen slaves and wondered why they were slaves, I had told him that much most were sold by their families some criminals others prisoners of war. However, he had only seen the slaves at the manor they were treated extremely well, after all Sir Heister believed even if they were slaves they were to be treated humanely. Not everyone thought that way though.
After the horn had played I saw Felix run towards the direction of the it I inwardly cursed to myself, I knew I wouldn't be able to catch him so I started screaming at him in his mind.
' FELIX GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW DO NOT GO OVER THERE.'
He only laughed at me seeing my frustration.
' Hehehe I won't fall for the Melony trick this time I am going it seems there is something happening.'
Bolting through the market as fast as I could possibly go, I finally caught up to Felix but it was too late he was already staring at the people lined up for auction. Cursing once again I could only try to mend the situation by telling him what was happening.
' Felix those people are slaves we cannot help them, please come with me we must leave this place this is not a good place to be.'
He ignored my words and kept looking towards the stage the slaves were displayed on, it took a while before he responded to me.
' Shilandra why are all of them treated better than her the small one in the middle.'
I looked towards where he was pointing and I saw something extremely surprising it was an elf, a freaking elf in Aistibal. A look of horror spread through my face this was beyond crazy elves were said to spread bad luck and this one seemed to be even worse. From the stories I had heard from people that traveled to the elf country to sell things, they always said the same thing never talk to an elf with black hair. Just talking to an elf was said to bring bad luck but, an elf with black hair not even there own family would speak to them.
The elf in front of us was small she seemed to be around 8 to 9 years old, she had dark black hair with hazel eyes, her chin was a bit pointed but that was natural for elves. Along with all that she was thin extremely thin as if she had not been fed in weeks, which honestly was not too surprising after all she was an elf. Her eyes however, looked dead like she had seen hell and come back from its depths, this made me feel a little bad for her no child this young should have eyes like that. Soon the auctioneer came to her and started speaking.
" Well folks we've got quite a catch here, an elf right out of elf country very rare specimen with black hair a once in a lifetime catch step right up and make your bids. This girl is a virgin as well so she'd make a fine sex slave for all you intrested buyers out there, well start the bidding at 10 gold."
After he had spoken many others started raising their hands, and yelling out bids.
" 15 Gold!"
"20 Gold"
" 2 Platinum"
Most of the bidders sighed at that 2 Platinum was too expensive for most here.
"5 Platinum"
Everyone looked towards the bidder that said those words and was surprised at who they saw, the son of Viscount Gueriter he was from the tiger clan that stayed in the east side of the city. They are known for being quite cruel to there slaves and housekeepers, although people know this no one dares argue with them Viscount Gueriter is one of the best mages of this city no one would willingly incur his wrath. However, something I did not plan for happened that changed all of this Felix yelled a price outloud that shocked even me.
"19 Platinum"
Everyone at the slave market turned around shocked, they wanted to see the person who bid this ridiculous amount. Most of them nodded seeing the color of Felix's tail and ears others were curious but most just turned away immediately. The auctioneer spoke once more.
" 19 Platinum going once, Twice, Sold to the boy in the back come to the back to collect you're product."
We arrived at the back of the stage shortly, looking at the girl up close she really was thin. She slowly walked towards them then the slave keeper spoke.
" Would you like this girl branded with the slave mark?"
I was about to say yes before Felix spoke.
"No"
After saying that he did something crazier than all of this combined, he placed the 2nd half of the ring that he purchased on the elf, this ment these two were now bound basically marriage. The slave keeper looked at this and sighed inwardly.
' Nobles I'll never understand these crazy idiots.'
Felix spoke to the girl.
' What is your name'
She was surprised at first for being spoken too.
' I have none I never received one, from birth I was destined to be thrown away so my family did not see it fit for me to have one.'
Felix inspected her quite a bit before saying.
' You shall be Sira'
With these words you could visibly see some of the shine start to comeback to her eyes, that immediately went away however.
' Come let us go Sira.'
The girl simply nodded and followed closely behind him.
Once they were out front again they got quite a few stares, after all the elf they had just seen now had a lovers ring on her it was quite the sight. Once they were getting closer to they carriage a scream was heard behind them.
" YOU, YOU PIECE OF FILTH WHO IS IT THAT DARES INTERRUPT MY BUISNESS I THE SON OF VISCOUNT GUERITER DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH."
Shilandra could be seen visibly gulping at this.
She turned around to respond to the boy.
" Your honor we had no intention to intterupt your buisness we have to be going however."
" DON'T THINK YOU CAN WALK AWAY FROM ME WHORE."
The son of the Viscount grabbed Shilandra by the hair and started pulling her towards the ground, Felix could no longer watch and grabbed the him by the throat.
" STOP HURTING SHILANDRA OR I KILL YOU."
He went visibly pale at these words someone actually dared stand up to him, the Viscounts son. Shilandra let this continue for a minute you could clearly see hate on her face now after she was done cleaning herself she spoke.
" You have just attacked a member of Duke Fredrick Von Heisters household I hope you are ready for the consequences I will be telling the duke of this once he returns from his trip."
The son of the Viscount went pale at these words, Fredrick had put him down finally and once he did the Viscounts son bowed and scattered away like a rat. A laugh could be heard but, it wasn't from Shilandra or Felix it was from Sira she seemed to have enjoyed that encounter. The three of them finally got on there carriage Shilandra cursed a few more times here and there but, they had finally started going back home to the Manor. Felix could only sigh he felt the hard part was starting now but, he had no idea how hard it would be.
