Chapter 6 

                The day of our departure had come, currently we were waiting for Fredrick to arrive. All day since I had awoken I had been saying my goodbyes to the wolves, they all wished me well wich only made me sad that I was leaving this place. Right now I was saying my goodbyes with my mother, this was something I was not looking forward too as I knew it would be heartbreaking. 

" Felix please remember what we have taught you, also remember to not do anything stupid my child. Also don't forget to continue your training, and always remember to eat well don't starve yourself." 

I had to cut her off as I felt she was going to keep listing things forever. 

" Mother don't be so sad, I promise I will do all the things you have asked. Also never would I forget what the wolves have taught me, you know that." 

She walked over towards me and put her snout to my head. 

" My child I know but I fear letting you go, what if you are not ready and something happens to you. Never would I be able to forgive myself for not being there to protect you." 

I wrapped my arms around her neck and gave her a hug. 

" Mother don't worry remember Melony will be there to watch over me in your stead, so do not be sad I will be safe I promise." 

Our conversation continued with us talking of little things that happened here and there, like when I first learned how to howl or when I first tried eating meat. However, shortly after our conversation came to a close with a the voice of Melony interupting us. 

" Felix my father is here he is ready to take us." 

Slowly standing up from next to my mother I prepped myself for the moment I had been dreading. 

" Well then let us go, I will see you in the future mother I promise." 

She gave me a slight nod which prompted me to turn around and walk towards Melony. We walked towards the entrance of the fields arriving shortly after we had left my mother, there standing next to Guntir I saw Fredrick still standing as proudly as ever.  

" Felix I see you are doing well, it seems my daughter's mood has improved quite a bit as well." 

Melony flinched at his words, but they left me puzzled what mood I don't quite understand his words. 

" Father lets not speak of this and just go already I think Felix is eagre to leave as well." 

He gave a nod and looked towards Guntir. 

" Well then old friend it seems it's time for me to go, I will be seeing you in the future." 

" In the future then Fredrick don't get Felix killed or I'll be coming after you." 

The two laughed at those words leaving me puzzled, I didn’t see anything funny about my death. Fredrick started walking towards the exit of the field and motined for us to follow. Once we were almost out of the fields I heard the wolves start to howl this brought me to tears as we started walking further and further away.

 Moving at a rythmic pace we continued our walk towards the fox territory, we were walking for quite a while so I decided to ask Fredrick a few questions. 

" Fredrick where is the place we are going too in the feline country." 

He looked at me and gave me a smile before turning his head around again and continuing his walk. 

" Ah my dear Felix that would be Aistibal the capital of the felines, its quite a beautiful place I'm sure you'll love it there is much to do." 

Aistibal huh what a strange name I gave him another question while I thought about his last words. 

" Will I be going to the school in the human lands once I arrive." 

Fredrick started laughing at my words. 

" Hahaha my dear boy you cannot even speak yet, and already you want to go towards the human lands. Quite audacious but no my dear boy you are not old enough to enter the school yet, you are only 9 one must be 12 to enter the school and must also be able to channel there magic into a visible form." 

Thinking about what he said I asked him something else that was bugging me. 

" Everyone speaks of this magic, but what is it exactly I don’t understand." 

He looked back giving me yet another smile. 

" Well by looking at your tail you should be able to use it so I guess I'll tell you. Magic is all around you it is always there, the old gods just gave us the power to use mana to channel its power. Magic is alive my dear boy remember that it lives and breaths as we do, if you nurture it take care of it in return magic will give you power. However, if you are to rash and try to rush your advancement you will only hurt yourself in the end. That is all I can teach you the rest you must learn on your own, magic is a path one must walk alone I will teach you a way to feel your mana once we are at the manor but after that it is up to you." 

Taking in his words I gave him a questioning look until I heard him say. 

" Let it out boy don’t hurt yourself." 

I felt myself go a little red at his words. 

" If magic is a path one must walk alone what is this school for." 

He once again gave me a smile but this time it felt like he was praising me. 

" Good observation boy the school if for young mages to challenge each other compete, to give them motivation to strive for further reaches of magic they also teach ways to use mana other than just for magic. Mana is much more than it seems after all it was a gift from the gods remember that as well boy." 

The rest of the walk was done in silence, I was too busy thinking about what Fredrick had told me and Melony seemed to be having a private conversation with her father that I was not welcome in. Soon the outer reaches of the forest started coming into view and what I saw amazed me, land spread out as far as the eye could see I saw hills and endless fields of flowers. Never had I been outside of the forest this was a first for me noticing my face Melony let out a snicker. 

" Close your mouth Felix a bug might fly in." 

I gave her a smile. 

" If it does I'll eat it." 

We both had a good laugh before Fredrick called for us to hurry up, we slowly were approaching a red circular shaped thing it had doors and wheels at the bottom. Looking closer I could see there was someone in front, it was also being pulled by some great deer I had seen some time to time in the forest but we never hunted them. Getting closer to it I heard Fredrick say something outloud to the person in the front.  

"***********" I 

Could not understand what he was saying. Never had I heard something as strange as this, soon the person in the front got out panicking and gave me a quick glance before bowing to Fredrick and speaking. 

"***************" 

Fredrick again responded. 

"******" 

The stranger grabbed the door and opened it then motioned us inside, once all of us were in he closed the door and I felt the carriage start to move shortly after. 

" Fredrick what was that weird howling you were doing is it how you guys communicate?" 

Both he and Melony had a good laugh at my words. 

" No no my dear boy that was Felician the laungauge of the felines you will learn soon enough my boy do not worry, also remember to not try speaking to people in there head it is quite rude to try to speak to someone that way for all races." 

I gave him a nod before slowly thinking of the wolves I had started to miss them already, noticing my face Melony spoke to me blocking her father out. 

" Remember Felix I will always be here." 

I gave her a smile and nodded her way Fredrick gave her a questioning gaze before brushing it off, this was how the my last days in the forest had ended slowly we made our way towards Aistibal Capitol of the Felines.
