As Rex waited for the remaining people to join him for the elevator ride to the exam location, he felt a tingling sensation from his shadow.
A sense of danger.
This is a new ability his shadow now possesses since becoming independent, which alerts him to potential threats.
“Huh?”
He frowned and looked toward the direction indicated by his danger sense.
“Is something the matter?” Sensing the change the rabbit helper asked also looking at where Rex was looking.
Woash
A great gust of wind came their way and before Rex could give him an answer to what was happening a horse girl in a jockey outfit appeared up the mountain running straight at them with incredible speed.
The horse girl was warned about a beast at the top, but when she arrived, she discovered there was no beast.
Instead, she was surprised to find a man in a black suit wearing a skull mask.
There was also a rabbit person who wore a Rangers uniform but he wasn’t important because she was about to punch the skull-masked man.
She had her hand raised in a punching stance, aimed straight at his masked face.
And given the speed at which she was running, she wouldn't be able to retract it in time.
This made her panic and feel impressed as sweat appeared on her forehead.
‘Oh no we made a mistake!’ She thought wanting to change the trajectory of her punch.
She wanted to avoid any misunderstandings that would come later from this but something felt wrong making her more shocked as the person she was about to punch had his eyes on her.
His eyes were focused on her specifically her hand.
He was watching her like he was seeing through her speed.
She knows that even without her powers no ordinary person can see through her speed, it's not about confidence but because she is just that fast.
But this man was clearly capable of dodging her but chose not to.
He watched her with amusement, curious about what she was going to do.
Rex had sensed her before she even climbed up and as she appeared with a fist he was prepared to dodge but then he thought to himself since this person triggered his danger sense he should take her seriously.
But he thought something else wanting to assess how much of a threat she posed.
Of course, this is due to him becoming a little too arrogant while killing the dinosaurs and gaining strength.
And more so he got more arrogant a few days ago when he received a strike from a giant bear with no damage from it whatsoever.
While he had his own thoughts about what was about to happen the horse girl was also having her thoughts.
A few inches away from hitting him the horse girl for some reason decided to go all out accelerating the speed of her fist.
And of course, Rex who was tracking the incoming punch noticed the change in speed but he just smirked.
Feeling that his opponent realized he was tough and decided not to hold back.
Bang
The punch created a strong impact sound, it was like a bike that was going at a high speed crashed into a truck.
Rex’s head was pushed back a little his body remaining in the same spot unmoved and the horse girl who punched him jumped back screaming in pain.
“F*ck…” She clenched her fist, which was now red and bruised while swearing curses under her breath.

“What the hell is that thing made of?” She asked shocked that her punch did nothing to the man and it was her who got hurt instead.
“Almost broke your arm heh, petite horsey?” Rex spoke amused at the horse girl.
“What the hell you’re talking about?” The horse girl said still clenching her bruised hand while staring back at Rex.
“Well, whatever but you know you sure got a bad manner attacking people for no reason, and damn that punch of yours packed a lot I felt it through the mask.” Rex licked his lips behind the mask feeling excited.
The rabbit helper on the other hand was frozen not making sense of what was happening.
All of it was just too surprising as it took a few seconds to the time the horse girl appeared and punched Rex.
It was all too shocking that no words came out of him just standing there with a gaping mouth.
But he suddenly remembered about his job wanting to raise his voice to intervene but then a shadow of something jumped over attacking Rex.
“You bastard!” It was the bear girl appearing with a big arm the same size as her body.
“Whoah!” Rex dodged back for a distance of about 50 feet.
Bam
A crack was created in the place he stepped away from.
The bear girl growled staring at Rex while standing between him and the horse girl.
“Are you alright XLR8?” With her eyes focused on Rex, she asked about the ware being of her friend.
“Sasha stop it.” The horse girl XLR8 said while adding… “It’s my fault I attacked first and besides he’s a human, not a beast.”
Growl…
“No that is no human.” Sasha the bear girl said her voice complicated as she growled.
“I said stop it we are at fault here there is no beast and I could have stopped my punch but I decided to punch him nonetheless… So stop it.”
Sasha was reluctant to stop but she decided to hold back her rage, still growling.
“Hmph so what if you decided to stop, is that supposed to make me stop as well... I don’t think so.”
Rex clenched his fist about to go and give them some lesson but was stopped by the voice of his helper and another group of people coming to the top.
Both twins arrived simultaneously followed by Sonya who was behind them.
One of the twins appeared out of the ground like a ghost while the other one climbed up the road that was built around the mountain.
All three of them wore shocked faces and after hearing Rex say those words they glared at him ready to step in.
But before all that could happen the rabbit helper rushed in between everyone.
“Everyone, could you please stop and listen?” After saying that he started to pant.
Huff Huff
“Are you a helper?” He looked behind the girls looking at Sonya who was coming towards them.
“Yes, and you?” She asked back scrutinising his uniform.
“Yes I’m and if these are the people you’re supposed to bring here then that means they’re the missing puzzles.”
“Missing puzzles what are you saying?” Sonya asked confused…
“It means no fighting or they can’t have access to the exam entrance."
“I still don’t get you?” Sonya said while turning her head to the horse girl saying. “You girls look after her.”
The rabbit helper struggled with what to say before just saying what the access screen said… “You see this elevator is the entrance and only five participants can access it.”
“So can we please stop this time is running out?” The rabbit helper breathed a sigh of relief after explaining things to them as he wanted to finally finish this job.
And after that Rex and the four girls were about to enter the elevator.
But before entering the elevator the girls apologized for their misbehave.
Though Rex acted like he didn’t hear them entering the elevator with a nonchalant shrug.
*
Two minutes later five people were inside the elevator.
As the elevator descended 200 floors to the ground level, there was complete silence as Rex was at one corner while the four girls stood opposite him their focus on him.
“You know you girls are something but can I ask a question?" Finally breaking the silence Rex asked a question curious about something.
From the time he clashed with them and their apology after realizing they were wrong and agreeing to use the elevator together all of these actions showed something.
These girls although they displayed actions not befitting of what they wanna become.
They attacked him because they thought of him as a beast, this confused him at first but he later understood it was because of his slayer's aura which made him like a wild beast to them.
"Why do you wanna become a hero?”
This sudden question enraged the bear girl as she retorted. “Hmph it’s you who should answer why you wanna become a hero when you have the stench of blood on you, how many did you kill?”
“Ugh, can you stop conversing with him, Sasha?” The twin who went through the walls said feeling disgusted when she heard the word blood.
“Shut up Ghost and don’t use my real name.” Sasha the bear yelled still looking at Rex.
Rex didn't give an answer just shrugging.
This made some of the girls angry while the horse girl looked like she was contemplating what to say.
After some time of quietness, the horse girl XLR8 finally spoke answering his question… “ We lost our loved ones.”
She spoke with a quiet demeanor feeling like she was still suffering from that loss.
“So it’s revenge?” Rex said not surprised because most people who want to be heroes either want revenge or admire the heroes wishing to be like them.
“NO… It’s not revenge we admire to be heroes because we don’t want our tragedy to befall others.” This time the bear girl spoke her voice resolute.
