Vol 1 Ch 11: Bratty Royals

~January 2nd, evening~

“What the fuck do you mean they failed?!”

As soon as Avi's face popped up on the Comm Orb, Doleon wasted no time to yell at him.

“Urmm…ap…apologies, Your Highness. But…but it seems that…the two assassins died?”

Yurena almost pushed her third brother out of the way. “What fucking rubbish dogs do you have working for you? Two assassins can't even kidnap a weak, core-less twelve year old? And they lost their lives too, at that?!”

If it weren't for his chest, Avi's chin might have touched the back of his head, the way he hung his head down.

The reason that they are so angry is not just because Avi had failed. Jet is only a kid anyway. He may be the son of a Duke General, but said duke had already thrown him away. So there's not a chance that they'll get exposed.

They are more worried about their new master. The newly reincarnated Chaos Lord Apep.

Apep had given them its first command. They are gonna kidnap Jet. Then they will place Apep inside the boy, so Apep can hide inside Jet's body. That way, Jet could use the power of chaos. As he gets corrupted the more frequently he uses chaos energy, his body will become a suitable vessel for Apep.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

Unfortunately, due to some unknown reason, the two assassins died. Avi knew this since every assassin left their Soul Print Crystal on Alba Stella's Assassin's Altar. If the crystal cracked and was destroyed, it means that said assassin has died.

And right now, Caedis and Cruor’s crystals have turned to dust.

“So? Now what?” The enraged Doleon asked.

Avi was annoyed with this bratty prince's question. They just casually tossed this responsibility to him, and expect things to go about smoothly. Disregarding the fact that, in the real world, shit happens.

Now, not only did they not have the solution, they patronizingly told him to make things right again. Right now, Avi was even thinking of pulling out of this venture.

‘Bunch of useless royal kids!’ he thought to himself.

“Oy! Do you hear me, old man! I'm asking you a question here. How will you fix this mess?” Doleon kept on asking. Yurena silently looked at Avi with her cool arrogance.

‘Fuck it! Who cares anymore.’ At this point, the enraged Avi hastily designed a plan to appease his annoying client. “Your highness. I do have another plan. Only…it would have to wait for a few more years.”

Yurena was intrigued. “Oh? And how would you do it?”

“Ehem. If I'm not mistaken, a child of fifteen years is eligible to enroll in Royal Aristocrat School. Perhaps Lord Apep could make its move there?”

Doleon quickly interjected. “Are you stupid?! That school is only for a Zander bloodline. A child of royal blood goes there to learn to be an aristocrat and become a mayor of a town. I should know, that's my and Yurena’s school.”

‘Would you let me fucking finish?!’ These are the words which shall forever remain buried in Avi's mind. His face was still smiling. “Which is why you should ask the king to grant Jet permission to go there. Not only would the king thought of you as a kind one, but Jet will also think positively of you. Wouldn't that make things easier in the future, now that he trusts you more?”

Both of them were silent. Stuck pondering the idea. Finally, Yurena broke the silence. “...That…could work…”

Avi was relieved. “That's great, Your Highness. Then perhaps you should…”

Before Avi could finish speaking, Doleon cut him off. “But what about Lord Apep? Won't she be angry now that the plan is delayed?”

“Hehe, I'm sure the Lord, in all her wisdom, would understand that this way is also good.”

“Great. Then you could come here and explain it to her.” Yurena said curtly before disconnecting the call.

Soon, Avi's study was shaken with his unbroken line of colorful curses to the two bratty royals.
