Chapter 1

Ahmad woke up with a start. That dream again. He sighed with frustration and sweating. He dreamed of the fatal encounter that killed his parents twenty years ago. He groaned as he looked over at the clock. It was only six o’clock in the morning. He had to give a big speech for a class at Obsidiandite University on his research with igneous formations from the Osidiandite Volcano. Ahmad laid in bed with frustration for the next hour thinking of what he could do to rid of villains and heros. Today marked the twentieth anniversary of his parents death. The PTSD he had gotten from him whenever he saw villians and heros fighting got him angry. Everyone who knew Ahmad knew to give him space during times like those.

When seven o’clock finally rolled around, he got up and went to the bathroom. He got into the shower and was thinking what he could have done to save his parents as the water dripped down his body. He quickly finished up his shower within five minutes. He got out of the shower and dried off. He then grabbed his robe that was hanging behind the door of his bathroom. He took a good look at himself in the mirror. His skin was light brown and flawless as he combed his fingers into his black curly hair. His dark brown eyes looked back at him with a piercing gaze as he practiced his speech. He muttered to himself with a sigh.

Ahmad finally made it to Obsidiandite University. He set off and went to room 320 to give his speech on his findings to his class and peers. He only had about thirty minutes to give his speech. As time was winding down, with only five minutes left, he was getting antsy and nervous.

Suddenly, a big blast occurred outside, and everyone stopped what there were doing and ran towards the windows. The next thing that happened before anyone could react. The windows shattered sending glass and metal flying everywhere with a roaring sound of a sonic boom. The resulting explosion knocked a piece of black obsidian in a locked glass display case over. The black obsidian came hurling from the shelves and hit Ahmad on the head. Ahmad thought great another hero/villain battle. He got very frustrated and threw the chunk of obsidian as hard as he could into the fight. Right where Pyromelter and Coldfusion were having a fierce showdown.

Coldfusion was rushing across the university campus heading towards her destination which was the water treatment plant. Her plans were to freeze the water works that could only be thawed by her and only her. She was going to demand a icy-blue obsidian as ransom from the city for the treatment to turn it back. Coldfusion was running out of time unfortunately. With the SCVA (Super Villain Conflict Agency) on her tail as well as her arch nemesis, Pyromelter.

Pyromelter was determined to bring in Coldfuison once and for all. He kept blasting her with his heat smelter. In return she would fire ice bolts instantly freezing anything it touched. Low on ice bolts she tried to think of a fast plan to get Pyromelter off her tail. As they both ran by the geology division of the university.

Coldfusion happened to see a steal tank full of liquid Nitrogen. This gave Coldfusion an idea. She was thinking if she could get Pyromelter close enough and have it explode, Pyromelter would be obliterated. She ran past the tank full of liquid Nitrogen, as Pyromelter continuedly blasted hot shards of slag. Coldfusion stopped right in front of the tank filled with liquid Nitrogen. With her back turned in a position that Pyromelter would not be able to see that the tank was full of liquid Nitrogen before it was to late.

Pyromelter fired a piece of slag. As the slag flew right for Coldfusion, she quickly activated her ice shield and rolled out of the way. The slag slammed into the tank full of liquid Nitrogen and exploded violently. Unfortunately, for Coldfusion, Pyromelter managed to trigger his magma shield at the last second as well. The resulting explosion created a sonic boom that sent massive shocks waves hitting the nearby building completely leaving them in ruins. Where the tank of liquid Nitrogen had been was a crated filled with ice that covered the scorched ground. Pyromelter yelled “Look what you have done”, to Coldfusion. The two were about to go back at it when a small projectile flew right at them.

Without warning the rock caused both Coldfusion and Pyromelter to collapse, a few seconds later they got up dazed and confused. As Coldfusion was about to move she stood in a frozen position looking at her own body. She looked down at her feet and let out a chilling scream. She was in Pyromelter’s body. Pyromelter began to freak out as well, as he looked on in disbelief of what just happened.

They both stopped fighting and were in total shock, that they did not realize the SVCA had surrounded them they took Pyromelter away who was in Coldfusion’s body. He began to yell saying “you have the wrong guy” in a woman’s voice. A SVCA agent said “that is what they all say” as they walked Pyromelter away.

Coldfusion kept silent and couldn’t comprehend what just occurred but said nothing and played along. Coldfusion pretended to act like a hero, even though she was a villain. The SVCA approached Coldfusion, unknowing to them that Coldfusion somehow fused into Pyromelter’s mind. She just talked cool and smooth.

All she could think of was something flying right at her and Pyromelter. The next thing she knew she was in Pyromelter’s body. Coldfusion made up a few lies saying that the explosion was caused by Coldfusion. The SVCA began their investigation of what took place at the university grounds.

A few hours into the investigation were very confusing and under detailed. Though there were injuries reported from the explosion, none were life threatening, nor were there any fatalities from the fight between Coldfusion and Pyromelter. The only piece of real interest was a rare substance of partially melted rare black obsidian.

Black obsidian was used for many experiments and quite rare. The SVCA wondered if Coldfusion somehow had the dark obsidian on hand and caused the explosion with it. Coldfusion said she had no idea how it got there or where it came from. She just stated it might have been blown out by the explosion from one of the labs or something. As they questioned her, she stated Coldfusion was going to freeze the entire water works to the city. The SVCA finished talking with Coldfusion as they wrapped up their investigation. Coldfusion took the oppurtinity to flee while she could.

Ahmad wondered if the peace of dark obsidian he had thrown was what just caused the explosion. Ahmad had to dismiss his classes for the rest of the day, due to the resulting explosion destroying his classroom. He told the SVCA the peace of black obsidian was thrown by a student. Ahmad wanted to have the black obsidian back. This peace was not ordinary, but the one used in his parents’ experiment. He cherished the item, since it was one of the only things, he had left to remember his parents by. Since his classes were cancelled, Ahmad decided to head over to the Obsidian Energy Labs Test Facility. Ahmad was trying to figure out what had caused the black obsidian to explode like that.
