Chapter 9: Dragon Hunting

Chapter 9: Dragon Hunting

[Leviathan's Pov]

After spending 8 days marching from the forest towards the mountain, I finally arrived there. They are indeed quite impressive, even bigger then the Himalayas from back on Earth. I wonder, are all mountain ranges this big in this world?

I had killed a couple hundred beasts during my travel and gained 40.000 essence. It's quite the amount, and I don't really know on what to spend it on. Definetly not on more fruits, as it's much better to be proficient with a couple then to have lots of them. I also already have every type of fruit. I have the Leviathan for zoan (mythical), the Venom fruit for the paramecia and the Lightning for logia, so I really don't see the point of buying more.

A possibility is to invest them in 'Cultivation Rate', but that's already at the Highest tier genius, and it costs 50.000 to upgrade to the next level. But, since there's nothing else I can really see as useful... Oh wait, I think I just figured out what to buy.

I need a weapon for my human form. I mean, for as strong and sharp as my nails are, they have absolutely shitty range compared to swords. But, I simply don't like swords, as they're too used and are too inefficient in the way I fight, which is using my tyrannical strenght and speed. I think that the weapon who would suit me the best would be a scythe. For as dumb as shythes are, they first look impressive, and tend to impress opponents, and if they are used correctly, they are extremely proficient in fighting crowds of people. I'm of course not going to just buy a gardening scythe though, no.

What I will buy is Death's scythe itself. Apparently, the Voice can sell it. I of course am not dumb enough to think it's the real deal, but looking at it's description does impress me... a little...

'Death's Scythe: A scythe sharp enough to cut metal like butter. Has the ability to harvest soul essence 10% more efficiently. Powers up user and sharpens the more it kills, and cools down after a fight finishes'. I... Don't know what to say. It costs 50.000 by itself, but it just sounds amazing. The bonus for harvesting soul essence is huge in the long run, and I'm curious about how it's supposed to strenghten me the more I kill.

I quickly buy the Scythe, and a scythe that truly reminds me of the one Death uses appears in front of me. I pick it up with some effort... It must weight at least 300kg. I don't know what it's made of, but even I could never hope to break it. I casually put my finger on the blade and press a bit. Blood quickly comes out, and my finger begins to sting. It truly is sharp... I wonder where I can put it when I go in monster form?

Panicking at the idea of possibly losing an object worth so much essence, I ask the Voice "... Somewhere... put... monster... form... don't... lose?" The voice actually stayed silent for a moment before answering "You have proved efficient enough in collecting essence that we decided to grant you a special skill for your troubles. Congratulations~, you've been the single most efficient collector in our entire history. don't be overly proud of your achievements though, as we're expecting much, much more." Just as the Voice finishes speaking, I feel a wave of information rush into my head. It feels like I just received enlightment... How wierd...

I can feel knowledge of a thing called 'Spacial Inventory'. It somewhat resembles the spacial bags that some really rich and powerful cultivators have with them, but is bigger and more convinient, as you don't risk losing the bag itself. How nice of them to give me this... Also, I do feel a bit proud at my achievement. Hey, this almost feels like a job!

Whilst in a good mood, I open up my spacial inventory and a window of darkness appears in front of me. It's 1 meter squared in size, but I somehow know how to expand it to fit bigger objects inside. I can fit a total of 50 meters squared of stuff in it, but I of course, can't put living beings in it.

Excited, I run over to the huge bag I was using, and put everything in my spatial inventory. Clothes, jewelry, shampoos, files for nails, money, some random stuff that I bought and finally my scythe goes into the inventory. It's not even close to full.

Happy to no end, I silently say to the Voice "... Thanks..." And it immediately replies "My pleasure Leviathan. It's a good business staying with you~." Huh... the Voice did sound pretty happy too. I really am beginning to doubt if this is truly just a program... Are they trying to trick me into trusting them? Why would they even bother? If they just wanted to work me like a slave, I have no doubts they'd simply have thrown me in here without any help and forced me to kill.

I throw away my now empty and useless bag and look at the mountain range. I'm not sure where exactly this cultivation zone is, but I think it should be somewhere on top of these mountains... I will never be able to find it like this, I need to develop my 'Dragon Emperor's Body' to the last level to gain flight, otherwise this will take forever.

Deciding so, I head towards the mountains and search for a cave. I find one after 5 hours of searching, and I enter it. I suddently hear a loud grumbling resound from deep inside though, and soon enough a small dragon appears from deep inside the cave. What even is a dragon doing so far away from the higher parts of the mountain?

"What is a mere human doing in my cave!? You dare intrude the cave of Keaf Gnorts?! Learn your place, human!" Oh boy, I'm trembling. He's an amazing 10 meters long. Whilst it might sound long, he barely looks like at the Earth Saint level, and I'm a being able to make high King Sait beasts tremble by merely seeing me. I think his arrogance is why he's here, he probably was kicked out from the stronger dragons or something. So cliche... Maybe I can make him my pet? Nah, I'd much rather have a smarter dragon then this as a pet.

"... Strong?... Weakling. Know... Power." I say and take out my scythe, it begins to emit an omnious dark athmosphere, and the dragon's eyes open wide. He still acts arrogant though and says "Hah? Me? A weakling!? How dare you insult me, Kaef Gnorts!? Die!!" He roars and charges at me. Yup. If all dragons are at his level of stupidity, then I'm ashamed of being partially a dragon.

I swing my scythe at him, he tries to strike it away with his claws, but they're cut off like butter. He screams out in pain, but I simply kick him in the face, since he was so wide open. As he tried to get up from my hit, I swing my scythe at his head and cut it off.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Satisfied, I put away my scythe. The main reason I'm not simply staying away from the mountain and finish cultivating is exactly because of this dragon. To advance to the 10th stage of my 'Dragon Emperor's Cultivation', I need to eat lots, and lots, and I mean real lots of dragon meat. I drag the corpse outside and change into my monster form, I then simply swallow it whole. I mean, I could probably swallow a ship whole with my body size, so this much is nothing.

Satisfies, I turn back into human form and cry out in dispair when I notice I just broke my clothes. Again. I always forget to take them off... I'm such an idiot.

Rolling around in the dirt, crying bitter tears for my stupidity, the Voice suddently spoke "Hey, you do know that you can just buy clothes that will not be destroyed during transformation? There's the option for it... They're more expensive, but wouldn't it be more convinient than constantly buying new ones?" I stop rolling around, suprised that the Voice actually spoke to me in it's own accord.

There's such a thing? Was I really this big of an idiot this entire time!? I swiftly open up my list and go into clothing. I check around for said tab of clothes, and soon enough, just under Angel Clothes there is a small, very tiny button that I can barely read 'Size-adjusting clothes'. I laugh bitterly at myself for never noticing it, and click the button. All of the clothes' prices go up by 500, but I'm not bothered. I mean, money is meant to be spend, and so is soul essence. I mean, life and souls aren't really that precious when you're an immortal 150 meter long sea monster.

I buy a blue one-piece dress with black lines going around it like circles. I put it on and check myself out. Yup. I look quite good in this.

Satisfied, I enter the now empty cave and settle myself in. Now that I've eaten dragon meat, my objective is to transfer it's special Qi into my own. my dragon Qi and a real dragon Qi are quite similar, but only a dragon's Qi has true dragon essence, which is what I require to advance to the final stage of my cultivation. My job is to separate the Qi from the meat in my stomach and condense it inside my heart, where it will be pumped out like blood. First step is gas, then liquid and then finally solid, which would be the final step and the most painful one.

I concentrate my mind into my stomach and focus my own Qi to attack the dragon meat and destroy it, once that's done, I will my Qi to transfer the dragon essence inside of my heart. This process alone takes 3 hours to accomplish, and once the dragon essence is transferred to my heart, it feels like my blood is slowly being lit on fire, starting from the heart and spreading out. It's not as painful as my last breakthrough, but it's still extremely unpleasant, but I can't help but to enjoy this feeling. The feeling of growth and improvement...

It takes me a total of 6 hours to fully integrate the dragon essence into myself. This was only 5% of the total amount I need, so as soon as I finish and the pain goes away, I get up and leave the cave to search for more dragons to hunt down. I don't turn into my monster form, as that might actually scare those fuckers away.

I leave the cave and begin my search. I climb up the entire mountain, searching every single cave I come across. It takes me 3 hours and 3000 meters of climbing to finally reach a dragon.

It was residing inside a gigantic cave, where maybe even I could fit in. When it smelled me, who was standing at the entrance, looking at it, it looked at me but didn't attack. It looked more curious then anything else.

"Hm? A human actually reached all the way up here? Are you perhaps lost...? No. That can't be right. You don't seem scared, yet I can't feel any Qi inside of you... Perhaps a body cultivator... those wings... impossible..." It begins to mumble at the end. It spends 5 whole minutes mumbling inside of himself and then turns to me "Human girl, I have lived for 2 millenia, and I'm of the high Saint King tier class. I have lived for many years, and only once have I seen something that resembles you. Tell me, are you perhaps a 'Dragon King's Body Cultivator'?"

Hm? No, I cultivate at the emperor's tier. It's the highest dragonic cultivation there is, but he probably doesn't need to know that.

I shake my head and look back at him, who looked like he was frowning. "Don't lie to me girl. I know you're here for my flesh, and you won't take it so easily." He stands up and gets into a battle stance, with what I suppose is a fire breath ready to fire. I raise my hand before he shoots me. He stops and looks at me, and I say "... Not... King. Emperor. Also... Not... Human."

It raised an eyebrow twice, once for the emperor part and then for me saying I'm not human. Instead of waiting for it's answer though, I run outside the cave and reach an open area. The dragon soon arrives flying out from his cave. He lands about 100 meters away from me and screams out "I've never heard of an emperor's cultivation, but I won't dare doubt that the world surely must hold something like it. Girl, prepare yourself, for I'm not an easy target."

This dragon's quite polite. Too bad I'm heartless and don't care. As he was about to charge at me, I transform into my monster form.

My body abruptly begins to increase in size tremendously, scales growing out and my legs become fins whilst my arms transform into giant claws. 8 pairs of giant wings appear from my back, and the process of transformation takes 10 seconds. I tower over the 30 meter long dragon like a giant eyeing a baby. The dragon was trembling a bit, but didn't back off.

He didn't waste time talking and fired his breath attack at me. I could feel quite a lot of Qi in it, so I dodge it by twisting my serpentine body and then circle around the dragon. It charges at me, but I block him with my claws and punch him back. Unfortunately for him, I had already fully encircled him, so I catch him with my tail and swiftly wrap myself around him like a cobra.

I then squeeze him as hard as I could and eject poison and lightning from my sides into the poor dragon. It continued to struggle for 10 seconds, but then the damage was simply too much and he died. I continued to squeeze him for another 20 seconds though, just to make sure.

Once that was done, I bite off one of it's wings and gulp it down. It tasted quite good, so I soon begin to tear through it's body. It was quite large, as expected of a King Saint beast. I wonder how large Heaven Saint beasts are... Probably really big... even bigger then me. That's something to look forward to at least, a nice and hard fight against a 10 kilometer long snake would be cool... not that I know any of that size, but I assume that's the size range of the highest tiered saint beast on this place.

I transform back into my human form and enter the cave. I sit down in what I assumed was once the dragon's bed, which was really only a huge pile of different kinds of pelts. I decide to explore the cave later, and begin my cultivation now.

I once again focus on my stomach. This time, the amount of dragon essence is almost four times as much as the weaker dragon. I focus on it and do the same thing as before, but the pain this time is not only much stronger, but it lasts for much longer as well.

Holding back my screams, I continue to focus on the essence. After 4 hours of cultivating, I can finally relax. Letting out a sigh, I can feel that I'm only 25% done, and that the more I do this the more painful it would be. I really hope I'm not turning into a masochist, but I can't help but feel excited at the idea of getting that 25% at 100% and finally being able to fly.

Deciding that no dragon shall escape alive in this mountain, I head out to find my next sacrifice.
