Coreless Dungeon [29]

My soul essence flowed into Eve at a staggering rate, seeping into every nook and cranny, changing her fundamental makeup forever. Then it did something strange, instead of forming a soul behind the eye it formed directly in it.

Interesting, very.

“Greetings, my lord and savior.”

It’s, well, I couldn’t really say that anymore, could I? Eve’s voice had a certain calmness to it, even though she had no mouth to speak she still could, somehow? Did my soul essence unconsciously give her that ability?

‘Greetings, Eve, serve me well.’

“Of course, creator, for that is my purpose.”

Interesting, now it was time to design Eve’s boss room.

I instructed her to move to the circle of trees at the base of the massive ember tree in the middle of the floor and shaped its back into a perfectly circular C-shaped tunnel that led directly under the tree.

Then I made a perfectly cubed room big enough for Eve to move and run around if needed. I also modified Eve's hair last minute, giving it an enchantment that would make them curl up into the shape of a golden apple.

It wouldn’t be a true apple, but you couldn’t tell, even if you bit into it. I named the pattern false apple and began enchanting it. It would be a rare drop that would form into a suit of wooden armor with moderate defense if eaten.

Since I had no idea how to link things to people’s minds yet, I also added an enchantment that would let the person know the verbal commands to take it on and off. I then went back and made sure I tweaked it correctly. I did not want this item to be high copper or silver, just low copper and whatever fell below that.

To not make the room thematically off I covered it in a mix of crimson leaves taken from the ember trees and vines taken from both the sun and moon fruit. Next, I shifted them around and arranged them in a way that wouldn’t impede or slow down those who were fighting, At least not physically.

If they just happen to be enthralled by the odd beauty of it all then that wasn’t on me. With that task completed I turned my attention to the tunnel leading to the boss room, right now it was just an opening in the trunk of the tree, nothing more.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

I couldn’t allow that, so I got to work. Forming a circular door that sealed it off from the outside world. Then I shaped in an infinity symbol made of tree branches that I made glow a shade of crimson with a little bit of soul essence. Then I began texturing the door itself, making it hard and smooth. I also formed small cracks within the wood here and there to give the feeling of age.

I grew out the wood above the glowing infinity symbol and shaped it into a replica of Eve with a glowing crimson eye. Then I formed a small wooden cup right below it.

Phew, almost done.

After making sure I had enough soul essence I wove in a high level durability enchantment. I removed the component that would change the matrai’s color, as I didn’t want the wood equivalent of dungeon stone.

Then I checked the enchantment to make sure it was good before moving on to another.

I focused on the cup and wove in an enchantment that would allow it to expand and stretch, this would only happen if something a little bigger than usual was placed inside, then I enchanted the Eve replica above it to speak if certain conditions were met.

As for what exactly would it be saying? I didn’t know, honestly, I wanted this entire setup to be successful so that I can start getting new patterns, to fight the boss and get loot. An offering of something must be made at the door for it to open.

I wanted to implement such a system for a good while now but didn’t have the chance, this combined with the intelligence network that I was going to set up would do my pattern database wonders.

I still had a lot of stuff to experiment with but I wasn’t going to wait until I'd exhausted every possible combination to start seeking more patterns.

Anyway, the enchantment would essentially be a glorified record player. Since it could only reply with what I recorded within it, that was fine though, that's what I wanted.

Should I go with cryptic and mysterious? Or should I just be straightforward and simple?

Hmmm.

Cryptic and mysterious it is, it would be fun too, and who doesn’t like fun? Well, fun for me but that’s alright.

With a thought it was on and I began speaking.

“An offering, an offering you must possess, mhm, indeed, indeed.”

Hehehehe, their reactions will be legendary!

I was having so much fun doing this, man, being a dungeon is truly what life is all about.

Anyway, next I wove in an enchantment with a connect rune that linked directly to my pattern database. Then I wove in a function that would check and cross reference each offering and see if I already had anything similar.

Then, I moved on to recording what the response to this would be.

“No no, thy offering is known by the holy one, another you must give!”

After that I wove in an enchantment into the roots of the massive ember tree that connected to the door of its trunk, they would rise up through the soil and brutally crush or restrain anyone who attempted to damage the door three times. I wove in an enchantment that made the soil behave like water but only for the roots when the conditions were met.

Then I recorded the three responses that it would repeat if someone attacked it three times.

“One must not use violence, it will not end well for you!”

“You wish to offend the holy one? Thy life will be extinguished, like a candle’s light before the mighty wind!”

“BURN!”

Fun! So much fun!
