POV Erath:
Finally, that irritating mountain is no more. Its been an eyesore these past centuries, but I’ve finally gotten around to clearing it away. That mountain was a true oddity. I’m still puzzled on how it managed to endure the cycle of the ages. Not even I am confident facing the cycle, maybe fate has a plan for it?
That mountain strangely reminds me about that weird granite humanoid I saw in the elemental plane. But, I don’t want to think any further about that horrid place. Standing guard there for a thousand years, watching the elemental rivers cascade into one another, truly makes one feel insignificant. Thank the System, I don’t have to return to that place, at least for a few cycles.
In any case, it’s not my place to question the cycle of the ages. By destroying the mountain, I’ve done my duty, nothing more and nothing less. Alas, I wish I could go down there and bath the world in true fire, but that’s still a wild dream. Just collecting the elemental essence to destroy the mountain, took years…
Maybe, in the future, I’ll grow powerful enough to usher in an Age of fire and destruction. I wouldn’t send a small fireball, but a true rain of fire and destruction. Wouldn’t it be wonderful, watching the world burn and the oceans evaporate? Ha-ha, I could see it now. All those mortal beings running from my unquestionable strength. Ha! Then everyone will know my true power!
“Just listening to your deranged laugh, I assume you’re still fantasizing about ushering in your so-called ‘Age of fire and destruction’?” behind me, I hear my sister, mocking me. They’ll see. It may not be this age or the next, but my time will come. I turn around and face my sister as she walks towards me, on the wind. Her emerald hair is flowing like a gentle stream of water, seemingly unaffected by gravity. It’s always a sharp contrast to the blue fire, that’s my hair.
“Greetings Natine, you sure took your time, making your way here. Did someone, again, fail to complement your ‘righteousness’, and you had to smite them?” I quickly say as she approaches. “Enough of these games Erath. Have you completed your task?” she asks, clearly annoyed by my comment.
“Of course, it was but a minor task, for one as powerful as I,” I answer confidently. She clearly has no respect for my power, but soon, she will know… “Now, the rest is up to you. Gather your puny winds and wipe clean what’s left of that strange mountain.” I say as I prepare to leave. Without waiting, she prepares to gather her power, elegant, as always, in her every action.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
As I’m finally prepared to leave, I turn towards my sister’s voluptuous figure. “Remember Natine, you can’t fail in this task. We can’t afford another mistake.” I remind her. “Don’t worry brother, when have I ever failed in a task before?” she quickly says, as she begins to gather elemental essence. “Ha, the day will come, and I’ll be there to enjoy every moment of it,” I say, my mouth curving into a wide grin.
Natine, with her eyes closed as she prepares to gather elemental essence, quickly adds, before I could leave, “Remember Erath, in about a hundred years, the elemental plane will have gathered enough elemental essence, and the next cycle will begin. Maybe then, you’ll be able to usher in your ‘Age of fire and destruction’, ha-ha.”.
I can clearly see the wide smile on her face, as she mocks me. A grumble, leaks from my throat, as I turn to leave. “Also.” She quickly adds, her eyes still close. “What is it now sister!?” I ask irritably, almost shouting at this point. Her elegant demeanour turns serious, as she replies, “Erath, I’m not to be bothered during this time, as I gather my power. Make sure of this.”.
A scowl forms on my face, as I hear her request, but I’m forced to swallow this irritation. I’m acutely aware of the importance of her task, so I can only accept her request. “Rest assured, I’ll notify one of the others to watch over you during this time.”. “How long will your task take?” I ask, out of curiosity. “About a year or two. I’m stronger than you, so I’ll finish my task faster than you did.” She replies, still managing to find time to mock me.
“One of these Ages Natine, you will learn to fear my power,” I say, anger boiling in my heart. “But not this Age, now run back towards your domain Erath and inform the others. Remember to cultivate your strength, else you’ll only be able to blame yourself for your lack of power. Now, run along, ha-ha.” She quickly rebukes my statement, ending with her ever-vexing laugh.
I give a last glance towards my sister. The scowl on my face engraves itself deeper into my skin; the fire on my head, burns a shade brighter. “I’ll gather my power, and I’ll show every one of you, that I’m not someone to be looked down upon. I may have been born last, but that doesn’t mean I am weak. In the future, you will bear witness to my true power.” I say to myself, as I confirm this resolution in my heart.
Finally, I turn away for the last time, unwilling to stay for a minute longer. It has always been a mystery, why anyone would want to be in her wretched company. With one last grumble, I move away from my sister’s floating figure. Each step that I take, scorches the sky with fire. My eyes are resolute, as the flame of desire burns in my heart. If it’s power that I require, then I’ll use any method to get it.
