POV Zohn:

Eternal Companion Title granted to the dedicated companion of a favoured being.

Name:   Zohn Evershire Race:   Goliath Titles:   Eternal Companion

A title, how can this be? No one, that I know of at least, has ever received a title before. The space for titles has always been blank. People just began assuming that the requirements for a title were too high and stopped even trying to acquire one, but I got a title?! I wonder what it does? I just realised, I never told the Colossus my last name; I'll tell him later. It's strange how the system describes the Colossus. ‘A being favoured by the system’, what could it possibly mean? I must investigate this further.

Eternal Companion Title grants the holder immortality within the vicinity of the designated companion.

Hehe, my first title. I’m so excited, and this effect is ludicrous! I’m I immortal? It can’t be that simple. Do I just have to stay on the Colossus? Ha! That was my plan all along. It looks like this old man may be getting even older than I previously thought.

I should still ask the Colossus why the system favours him. I mean, we are companions now and will be until the end of time, so there should be no secrets between us. I calm myself down and prepare to ask the question that’s been bugging me, “Why does the system favour you?”. “Well that’s a long story,” the Colossus replies in a somewhat embarrassed voice.

“I’ve got all the time in the world so can you please explain?” I ask, my curiosity growing. “Well, it all started in the first age. Tens of thousands of years ago by my estimate, but I can’t be sure,” the Colossus begins his explanation in a tone filled with longing. “There was a time when no tiny elementals or even Goliaths, like yourself, roamed this beautiful world and the smallest thing around was me,” the Colossus continues, shocking me with his statements.

I mean, tens of thousands of years ago. How old is the Colossus? That explains why it seems like he's carrying a massive burden on his back. Time can wither even the strongest individuals. “I was always looked down upon for my small stature, but that gave me one thing that the other elementals lacked. That was ambition. Not the goal to grow higher or be stronger. No this was the ambition to be something more than myself, something greater, but there was nothing that I could do.” The Colossus’s voice grows wistful. I'm completely entranced by his tale.

“Ironically, the world wasn't big enough for me. After years of contemplation, I finally decided to go into a deep sleep. I still don’t know what drove me to take this drastic step. It felt like some invisible force was guiding me, but I know I made the right decision.” The Colossus continues, as his voice grows firm.

“After my first sleep, I woke up for the first time in thousands of years and I met some strange and tiny elementals. They were probably exhausted when we met. I tried to greet them, but they all decided to take a nice nap in the soft earth. They’ve probably been woken up by now, I hope,” the Colossus’s tale turns weird, what is he going on about?

“Anyway, when I first woke up the system gave me a unique trait, and I believe that’s why you think the system favours me,” The Colossus concludes his weird tale, and I’m left wondering. A unique trait, that's a first. I wonder what it does? My curiosity reaches a new peak.

“The unique trait, granted to me by the system, allows me to accomplish that which I most desired. It allows me to go beyond my limits and become something more. From what I’ve observed, the unique trait allows me to evolve and better myself by acquiring different titles. For example, I have the title ‘Earth Shaper’. This title influenced my unique trait to change my composition from dirt to granite,” The Colossus’s explains. I'm left in a state of awe. What is this strange being that I’ve decided to follow?

If he wants to better himself, then it only seems appropriate that I try to help him. “If your goal is to better yourself with your unique trait, then we need to figure out how to get you more titles," I state, finally deciding how I can start repaying him for all that he has done for me.

“I’ve also been contemplating on how to get a title for a while now, and I know that stumbling on them accidentally isn’t a good way to grow and better myself. When you explained the topography of this continent, I had an impulse to visit the volcano at the centre. I believe that this sensation is towards my next step,” the Colossus says and I’m inclined to believe his assumption.

If he feels that something is pushing him towards the volcano, then I’m not against it. From the little that I understand about titles, I know that you must do something extraordinary to earn them. By going towards the most dangerous location on the continent, is a surefire way to get a title. Hopefully.

“Then it’s decided. We’ll go towards the volcano” I say, trying to shake the fear and doubt from my voice. This is going to be a wild journey. A trip filled with dangers and adventures. A journey filled with women and action. Okay, probably not women, but at the very least action. Whatever this journey is going to entail, I’m sure to stick with the Colossus for all eternity. I’m his ‘Eternal Companion’ after all.
