POV Colossus:
Times have changed, but I’m still here. Now with my first companion, or should I call him a friend. I can’t decide, but it doesn’t matter. He’s agreed to come with me, and that's what counts. Still, the vow he made shocked me. I didn’t expect such a commitment, but I don’t mind it in the slightest. Finally having a friend is wonderful.
If we’ve decided to go to the volcano, then we shouldn’t waste any more time. Thinking about it, in which direction is the volcano? Hehe, I forgot to ask. I hope Zohn doesn't mind all my questions. He can probably point me in the right direction. How hard can it be to find a volcano?
“Zohn, in which direction is the volcano?” I ask. “The path to the volcano? I said it was at the centre of the continent, but I guess I was a bit vague. The Boreal kingdom is located at the southern edge of the mainland, so the best way to find the volcano is to travel north.” Zohn answers after a bit of thinking.
This means that I only need to walk directly north. That shouldn’t be too hard. “Oh, and I forgot to add. The reason that the volcano is so dangerous isn’t just because it’s active. The real danger comes from constant lava rivers and enormous volcanic lakes that surround the volcano's landscape. Unfortunately, that's the least of our worries. Constant seismic activity has caused the ground to become loose and brittle. Walking across the terrain is sure death for most people!” Zohn adds in a serious tone.
Well, there goes my plan for an easy journey, but I’m not sad. Who knows what this trip will have in store for us. Besides, I have to go to the volcano.
POV Narrator:
Zohn straightens his back and firmly grips the spear in his right hand. “ I don't want to fall off again so I must prepare myself properly this time,” Zohn decides, tightening his grip on the spear. His muscles bulge and tense up as he gathers all of his strength. In one swift action, Zohn plunges his spear straight into the Colossus’ shoulder.
The spear embeds itself twenty centimetres into the hard granite. This depth is nothing compared to the two meters that the spear was stuck in the Colossus’ foot, but it should still hold steady. “I need to find a proper name for the Colossus. He doesn't seem to have one, thus giving him a nickname is a great start,” Zohn decides, starting to contemplate on an appropriate nickname.

“That’s it! I’ve found the perfect name,” Zohn’s eyes widen in excitement. “I hope he likes it,” he nervously ponders, doubting himself a little bit. Taking in a deep breath of cold air, he looks over towards the Colossus’ head and asks, “Are we ready to set off Col?”.
“Col, that's a new one, but it's the best one so far. I've never had a name, so I'll adopt it for now. My companion is giving me so many wonderful gifts,” the Colossus silently accepts Zohn’s gift after a bit of contemplation. Witnessing the Colossus silent acceptance, Zohn releases a sigh of relieve, his nervousness dissipating considerably.
“Yes, I'm ready,” the Colossus answers. “I'm going to stand up, so be careful,” the Colossus warns, worryingly staring at Zohn. “I've prepared myself, so I'll be fine,” Zohn reassures, signalling the Colossus to begin. As the Colossus prepares to move, Zohn further tightens his grip on the spear.
Steadily, the Colossus rises from the beach. Underneath him, the soil crumbles and displaces under his enormous weight. His body rises higher toward the sky. Zohn stares off of the Colossus’ shoulder, his mouth hangs open in awe. The Colossus' shoulders have risen three times higher into the sky. The spectacular sight almost makes Zohn lose grip of his spear. “So, this what a bird sees,” Zohn quietly stares in amazement.
Finally, the Colossus stands completely upright, his posture perfect. The Colossus’ eyes scan the horizon, watching the sunrise in the east. “Since we want to go north and the sun rises in the east, then our destination is…” the Colossus ponders, slowly turning his head north.
Breaking his daze, Zohn closes his mouth and observes the Colossus. In Zohn's eyes, anticipation burns. He's ready for their journey and a bit excited. The Colossus’ granite body shakes, causing Zohn to desperately grip his spear. The Colossus has begun to move.
The winds kick up around the Colossus enormous frame, a scent of change is in the air. The Colossus is ready to start his next adventure, and with Zohn by his side, there was nothing that could stand in their way. Determination fills the Colossus’ granite eyes as he moves his body forward.
Firmly, the Colossus takes his first, proper step on the new continent. Like harbingers of fate, they move together. Their resolves are firm. The Colossus' will is hard as iron. He may be a being from the past, but the future is his goal. He's prepared to face any challenge that stands in his way.
