Chapter 49

Chapter 49

Star Han and Yu Ling arrived in Feng City on the same day and immediately contacted Su Lina and the others. They were staying at the luxurious Yin Guang Hotel, which happened to be operated by a department related to the Public Security Bureau. Star Han couldn't help but admire the resilience of these five women. They were figures in the underworld, and although they weren't currently worried about being recognized, it wouldn't be a pleasant experience if their identities were exposed. They had taken many lives, albeit justified.

Star Han entered their room and saw that they were living quite luxuriously. They were staying in deluxe suites, but money came easily to them, so spending it wasn't a big deal. They were all gathered in one room, waiting for Star Han's arrival. When they saw him, they stood up, but Star Han casually waved his hand, signaling them to sit down. He asked, "Are you all feeling better? Nothing serious happened, right?"

"We're fine, it was just a few hours of unconsciousness," said Su Lina, the oldest among the five.

"That's good. Yesterday evening, did you only hear the sound and then notice the purple smoke?" Star Han asked again.

"Yes, that's right. There were no smoke bombs or explosions," Su Lina confirmed, understanding what Star Han was referring to.

Star Han looked at the other women, and they nodded in agreement with Su Lina's statement.

"In that case, it wasn't just a normal drug. It must have been the work of the mysterious individuals mentioned in the Huashi files," Star Han analyzed.

"Definitely. Regular smoke wouldn't dissipate that quickly. It covered the entire villa within moments," Wang Jing chimed in.

"We were really unlucky last night. I don't believe we couldn't handle them if we faced them head-on," Xu Xiaofang protested. Since waking up, she had been brooding over the events of the previous night.

"But if we encounter them now, it's the same story. We can't stop breathing, can we? Besides, we still don't know where they are. We're in the light, and they're in the dark. It's easy to dodge a visible bullet, but it's hard to defend against an invisible arrow," Li Mei expressed her concerns.

"I knew they would play dirty. What kind of heroes are they?" Xu Xiaofang muttered indignantly.

"Don't argue, let's listen to the leader," Yu Ling said.

"Oh, I understand. Yu Ling and Yu Long, stay here. The rest of you can rest for now. Let me think about what to do," Star Han dismissed the girls, knowing that it was impossible for them to have a moment of peace when they were together. He wanted some time alone to consider the situation.

After the others left, Star Han instructed Yu Ling and Yu Long, "You two will be my guardians. Don't let anyone disturb me until I get up. I want to check the surroundings and see if anyone is tracking or surveilling us." Star Han sat down, closed his eyes, and the Yu sisters stood by his side, keeping watch.

Star Han focused his mind and enveloped the entire hotel. Soon, he had a clear understanding of the hotel's situation in his mind. Everything seemed normal, with nothing particularly noteworthy. Of course, he overheard a lot of boring or confidential conversations, and since it was after dinner, he witnessed some explicit performances as well. However, these things hardly registered with him. He was accustomed to such things.

He expanded his mental reach to the surrounding area but found nothing. Perhaps the other side hadn't anticipated his arrival in Feng City so quickly, or maybe they had already devised a plan to deal with him, so they weren't in a rush to act.

Star Han wanted to test the limits of his mental power and continued to expand his range. Eventually, he encompassed the entire city center, but he began to feel a sense of fatigue. He decided not to extend his reach any further and focused on scanning the area within his current range, hoping to discover anything of note. Although he had the ability to perceive everything within his range, it didn't mean that every detail automatically registered in his mind. He could only know what he wanted to know; otherwise, his mind would be overwhelmed with information.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

In an instant, Star Han surveyed countless locations but found nothing. Just as he was about to give up, he sensed an abnormal energy. His attention was instantly piqued. The mental fluctuations of ordinary people were usually weak and didn't attract his notice, but the one he had just detected was unusually strong.

However, that mental fluctuation disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. Star Han hadn't been able to determine the exact location where it originated, but he had a general sense of its range.

Star Han concentrated his mind on that range and began searching the area. As he focused his mental power, the situation in the entire area became clearer and clearer. It didn't take long for Star Han to discover an extraordinary mental power. He immediately pinpointed its precise location.

It seemed that the other party had also sensed Star Han's presence and deliberately suppressed their mental activity. However, under Star Han's careful search, they couldn't completely conceal themselves. Star Han extended his mind and immediately felt that powerful force. It was a dark energy, indicating that the person possessed some kind of dark arts. However, their mental power was not as strong as Star Han's. Ignoring the warning from the other party, Star Han directly entered their room with his mind. (In fact, these things are not entirely fictional. I don't know if you've heard of certain peculiar incantations or spells in folklore that have mysterious effects, but I've personally witnessed them.)

Once inside the room, Star Han was pleasantly surprised to find Zhang Yi and Liu Qinwei there. Besides them, there was an old man and several women, most likely members of the Caide Faction.

Star Han retracted his mind, stood up, and saw that Yu Ling and Yu Long were guarding him by his side. Without waiting for them to say anything, he immediately instructed, "Yu Ling, inform Su Lina and the others to prepare for action. Yu Long, get a minivan ready. We'll need it soon. I'll tell you the details later."

Yu Ling and Yu Long understood that something important had come up and didn't ask any further questions. They quickly went to make the necessary arrangements.

Fifteen minutes later, they were all on their way. Star Han personally drove the car and headed to the location he had sensed earlier. During the drive, Star Han informed them that their mission was to rescue Zhang Yi and his group, and a confrontation was likely. He instructed them to wear their Falcon suits, saying, "I'll deal with the old man, and you girls can handle the women. Let's see who's more formidable, the Caide Faction or the Falcon."

Since their activities at the hotel had taken place in a public space and it was already evening, they didn't dare to attract attention by wearing their Falcon suits. Hence, Star Han arranged for a large van so that they could change inside without feeling embarrassed. Fortunately, except for Star Han, they were all women, and since he was driving, there was no need for them to feel self-conscious.

They arrived at the building in a short time. It looked ordinary from the outside. Star Han was worried about Zhang Yi and the others' safety and didn't have time to consider much. He kicked open the door and rushed in. Yu Ling and the others followed closely behind.

The people inside clearly hadn't expected Star Han and the others' arrival. Several women rushed out from inside, but they weren't holding any weapons. Star Han swiftly moved past them, heading straight for the room, leaving the women for Yu Ling and the others to deal with.

Upon entering the room, Star Han found Zhang Yi and Liu Qinwei, both unconscious but seemingly not in any life-threatening danger. He breathed a sigh of relief. He then noticed two other individuals in the room—an woman in her twenties or thirties, likely the leader of these people, and an old man. The abnormal mental fluctuation he had detected earlier was most likely caused by the old man.

The woman saw Star Han burst into the room and immediately lunged at him aggressively. It seemed she was skilled in hand-to-hand combat, possibly in karate or a similar discipline. But Star Han didn't pay much attention to her.

With a casual palm strike, Star Han struck her neck, a vulnerable spot for anyone. The strike rendered her unconscious. Star Han then turned his attention to the old man, who seemed to be engrossed in some kind of chanting. A whirlwind slowly formed on the ground, growing rapidly. Star Han didn't want to waste any time. He swiftly threw a knife, interrupting the old man's chant. The wind dissipated before it could fully form, disappearing along with the old man's collapse.

After dealing with the two individuals, Star Han immediately checked Zhang Yi and Liu Qinwei's condition. They seemed fine, but he couldn't understand why they were still unconscious.

For the time being, Star Han didn't investigate further into their condition. He stepped outside and saw that the fight was nearing its end. Both sides were engaged in unarmed combat, possibly due to their protective suits, which made them impervious to bullets. However, it was evident that Yu Ling and the others had the upper hand. Star Han was eager to understand the situation, so he joined the fray. After a few moves, he incapacitated the remaining combatants.

He brought the women back into the room, preparing to interrogate them about the situation.
