Chapter 8
While waiting for the items Adeiv purchased to be delivered, Keith spent his time in the time-accelerated pocket dimension, observing Frisk as he overhauled the military’s weapons. When Frisk saw Keith's studiousness, he reluctantly started explaining his thought process during the upgrades.
Frisk’s understanding of arrays was immeasurably deep, allowing him to explain things clearly and concisely. It wasn’t like the teachers Keith had at Adventurer Academy, who went to great lengths describing topics in a convoluted manner.
For example, Frisk broke down the array profession into three major sections – engraving, rune knowledge, and rune syntax. Simply put, engraving refers to your ability to recreate runes accurately, rune knowledge refers to the number of runes you memorized, and rune syntax refers to your ability to link runes together to form meaning.
Regarding difficulty, rune syntax came first, engraving second, and rune knowledge third. Rune knowledge simply required a good memory, while engraving needed high stats and mental fortitude. Someone could train both. Meanwhile, a person’s talent in rune syntax determined how far they could go on the path of an array artisan. It wasn’t a matter of hard work. After all, there were few methods to increase your ability to intuit, infer, and use logic.
Over the next few days, Keith gradually developed a systematic understanding of arrays. The more he learned, the wider the door opened, revealing more of what arrays could accomplish.

In a zone called Moonglade Grove was a towering wall surrounding a sprawling city. Encompassing the city was a beautiful barrier composed of the four basic elements, each interweaving with one another in an ever-flowing stream. This majestic sight was one of the two great arrays renowned throughout the Grandsky Realm, called the Fourgleam barrier. It protected the capital city of the Elemental Dimension, having stood for centuries.
Floating over the capital were four palaces, home to the four elemental rulers of the Elemental Dimension. At this moment, a guard entered a large hall in a palace resembling a molten fortress. Even though the guard’s innate ability was fire, they still started sweating due to the hall’s high temperature. Walking forward, they arrived before a man hovering cross-legged a few feet off the ground.
The man appeared fierce and wild, his long red hair and beard flowing like lava. Red markings covered him from head to toe – a side effect of his Mana Body. This man was one of the four rulers of the Elemental Dimension, someone thousands of years old and one of the few people with a level of 1,000.
He was Torg Igneo.
Bowing respectfully, the guard began, “My king, a report came in this morning about our operations in Typhoon Beach.”
Torg remained expressionless, merely letting out a single grunt.
The guard continued, “A mercenary guild chanced upon the trade outpost and wiped out our agents.”
Torg’s eyes opened, revealing two ruby pupils exuding light. “Who was it?”
“A group calling themselves Arclight,” the guard explained. “We didn’t find anyone registered with that name, so it’s no doubt a fake alias.”
Torg fell silent. Narrowing his eyes, he wondered if his fellow rulers had gotten involved. Sneering, he glanced down at the guard, who shivered under his gaze. “Find this so-called ‘Arclight’ and annihilate them.”
“As you command,” the guard shouted.
When Torg became the hall’s sole occupant again, he released a low laugh. “You three love playing these underhanded tricks. Fine, I’m game!”
