Collect the World - Book 2 Chapter 50

Chapter 50

Out of the four Dimensions within the Grandsky Realm, the Sin Dimension was the most peculiar. It didn’t grant innate gifts to all its natives. Instead, it selected seven people whose personalities best corresponded to the seven deadly sins. The chosen ones acquired a whole slew of abilities and specific progression paths unique to them.

Some had it easier than others.

For example, Gluttony needed to eat items, whether food or otherwise, to progress its innate gift, while Envy had to be jealous of other’s traits or belongings.

Of the original seven sins, there were three still alive: Wrath, Gluttony, and Greed.

Each was level 1,000 and had developed their innate gifts for thousands of years.

Wrath was the strongest among them.

As a person, he was easily irritable, and due to his skills warping his personality further, he had no tolerance whatsoever. The slightest disagreement would result in him losing his mind, sending him on a rampage. Many in the Sin Dimension considered him a menace.

That was why when a commander from the demon army flew up to Wrath, they kept their distance and spoke carefully, “Lord Wrath, we’ve informed Greed and Gluttony about the situation. They’re on their way.”

“How long?” Wrath growled, his voice rumbling.

The commander gulped. “Uh, about five minutes.”

“They won’t make it.” Wrath pointed into the distance at the arriving Elemental Nation’s army.

The commander turned around. “There’s so many!”

Wrath spotted Torg, who was in the middle of drinking potions and spoke angrily. “They’re here for the Sin Dimension Core.”

“What about the Blockade? Have they abandoned their frontline?” The commander was visibly anxious.

Wrath ignored the commander, whoever he was, and clenched his hands, muttering, “Torg wants to kill me?”

The demon commander saw the crazed look in Wrath’s eyes. Knowing what was about to happen, he fled back to the army below. Right as he left, Wrath raised his head to the sky and roared.

BOOOOM!

A visible shockwave erupted from Wrath’s mouth.

At the same time, a phantom emerged from Wrath’s back and hovered behind him. It had no discernable form, appearing mist-like. The only noticeable feature was a pair of red eyes. It loomed over Wrath as if it possessed him.

On the other side of the battlefield, Torg activated Inferno Blaze Embodiment and flew high into the sky to avoid affecting the legions from what was about to happen.

Wrath, seeing Torg move, stamped his feet on the air as if it were solid ground and pushed off. His figure blurred, traveling so fast it was like he was teleporting. In several steps, he crossed half a mile and appeared next to Torg.

“DIE!” With an enraged shout, Wrath punched out.

Unflustered, Torg activated another of his ultimate skills as his head exploded from the blow. When Wrath saw his attack succeed, he briefly awoke from his rage, confounded that Torg had died so easily.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

At that moment, Torg’s voice came from his supposed corpse, “Incineration Domain.”

Following his words, a massive change occurred.

An expanding circle spread out from Torg’s recovering elemental form, transforming everything within a thousand feet into a world of flame. The temperature warped and distorted the air as Wrath immediately combusted into flames.

“AHH!” Wrath screamed in agony, but the pain only propelled him further into madness as the Asura phantom behind him grew in size. The damage he took raised his stats until the Incineration Domain could no longer hurt him.

Wrath, still aflame, glared menacingly at Torg’s recovered body.

“Not enough, huh?” Torg spoke after seeing Wrath’s skin had merely melted a little.

Suddenly, Torg teleported a short distance away as Wrath slapped out.

A black arc spread from where he previously stood, destroying the space there entirely. Torg was inwardly startled. Without using any skills, Wrath’s physical prowess alone was enough to shatter space.

It seemed he had underestimated Wrath’s growth.

Like him, Wrath had gotten stronger since their last clash years ago.

But it didn’t matter.

Torg raised a hand and made a signal.

Outside the Incineration Domain, Flynn ignored the sweat dripping down his face and activated his Wind Manipulation skill. Pointing forward, he spared no expense to summon dozens of tornados, which burrowed into the Incineration Domain.

Like stoking a fire, the tornados caused the flame element within the Incineration Domain to grow especially active. The temperature rose even further and turned all the flames pure white.

Even though Flynn was outside the Incineration Domain, his armor started melting.

However, he couldn’t retreat.

He needed to constantly infuse wind into the Incineration Domain to maintain its enhanced state.

Meanwhile, inside the Incineration Domain, Wrath’s anguished screams rang out as his body broke down. The demon was in so much pain he couldn’t help but randomly punch and kick out, each blow shattering space.

Nearby, Torg reformed his elemental body and sighed with relief. Maintaining both the Inferno Blaze Embodiment and Incineration Domain took a large toll on Torg’s mind, making his reactions slower than normal.

During the time it took Flynn to take action, Wrath had ripped apart Torg’s body six times. Thankfully, he developed his Inferno Blaze Embodiment skill, allowing him to endure whatever Wrath threw at him.

“This damn berserker…” Torg muttered in frustation.

Wrath gained stats the lower his health dropped.

If you didn’t kill him in a single blow, you could only chip away at his health.

Like now.

Torg kept his distance and focused on channeling the Incineration Domain, watching as Wrath’s body deteriorated.

The flames stripped away his body bit by bit.

First went his skin, then his tendons and muscles.

Eventually, only bones remained.

A normal person wouldn’t be able to survive in such a state, yet it was at this point that Wrath was at his strongest. The phantom behind him had congealed to an almost solid state. Even now, its red eyes stared at Torg, making him shudder.

“Still not enough?” Torg frowned when he observed his enhanced Incineration Domain was unable to melt Wrath’s bones.

Just then, a commotion in the distance drew Torg’s attention.

Looking over, he saw that Rammy and Isabel had engaged two demons in combat, one plump and the other thin. Greed and Gluttony had arrived. Time was running out.

Torg turned back to Wrath and was alarmed.

The phantom was in the middle of fusing with Wrath’s body.

Torg didn’t know what that meant, but it couldn’t be good.

Clenching his teeth, he deactivated Inferno Blaze Embodiment and dedicated all his mental focus to channeling his Incineration Domain. Raising his hands, he squeezed the air.

The moment he did so, the Incineration Domain started shrinking.

A thousand feet in diameter…

Seven hundred feet…

Five hundred feet…

Torg gasped for breath.

Three hundred feet was his limit.

He couldn’t compress the Incineration Domain any further.

Fortunately, it was enough.

Wrath’s bones had begun to melt.

Torg went all out to maintain the condensed Incineration Domain, pushing his focus to the limit. Just as Wrath was on the verge of perishing, an anguished scream reached Torg’s ears.

Alarmed, Torg looked over and saw Flynn clutching a gaping hole in his neck. Chasing behind him was a familiar humanoid lizard.

“TYRANUS!” Torg roared, his eyes turning bloodshot.

Critically wounded, Flynn fled for his life, with Tyranus hot on his trail. Although Rammy and Isabel wanted to help, Gluttony and Greed locked them down.

There was nobody to assist Flynn.

Except him.

During that moment, the world in Torg’s eyes slowed down.

He had a choice to make.

A few more seconds was all he needed to finish off Wrath, even without Flynn’s help.

Victory against the Sin Dimension was in sight – something he yearned for day and night. He was so, so close.

And yet….

He decided to give it up.
