Chapter 51

Dismissing the Incineration Domain, Torg reactivated Inferno Blaze Embodiment and teleported next to Flynn, impeding Tyranus’ path. Without hesitation, Torg pointed forward with all five fingers and used a transcendent grade skill – Scorched Fireworm.

The air distorted around Torg’s hand as small, needle-sized fire snakes shot out from his fingertips. They homed in on Tyranus at super-sonic speed, leaving black streaks in their path.

Tyranus’ expression remained placid as its body contorted to unnatural angles, avoiding the Fireworms without slowing its momentum. Raising its claw, it was just about to pierce through Torg’s chest when it felt its back heat up.

The Fireworms had spun around!

Acting quickly, Tyranus’ tail smacked the air with such speed it was like hitting solid ground. The recoil sent it flying to the side, narrowly avoiding the Fireworms once again. However, like a hunter seeking out its prey, the Fireworms chased after Tyranus, forcing it into a continuous retreat.

Torg kept half of his focus on Tyranus and turned to Flynn, who was clutching his neck in a panic.

“Don’t move,” Torg spoke and raised a finger.

Flynn winced when he saw what Torg was about to do.

Cauterize!

A flame erupted from Torg’s finger and burrowed into Flynn’s neck, searing his flesh. At the same time, it stopped all bleeding effects. With Flynn’s life out of danger, Torg returned his attention to Tyranus, who was still dodging the Fireworms.

“You can’t avoid them forever. They won’t disappear until they hit their target,” Torg spoke to Tyranus, his belly full of anger.

Tyranus continued to retreat for several seconds before realizing Torg spoke true. Narrowing its eyes, it decided to test the waters and reached out to grab one of the Fireworms.

Torg sneered at the sight.

Although it was made of flame, the Fireworm broke through the scales on Tyranus' hand and burrowed into its palm, dealing a million points in damage.

Tyranus jumped back, and as another Fireworm approached, it swiped the air, creating a black rift. When the Fireworm disappeared within, Torg’s expression shifted, and he quickly took control of the remaining worms before the same thing happened to them.

Tyranus tried the same tactic, but now that Torg was in command, the Fireworms easily snaked past the rift. Tyranus’ body warped repeatedly, expertly avoiding the Fireworms every time.

Torg’s expression was grim.

He was mentally exhausted after his fight with Wrath and used the Scorched Fireworms to buy time to recover. Thinking of Wrath, he glanced over and saw that although the demon was in a terrible state, he was quickly recovering. Parts of his flesh had regrown.

“Go and stop Wrath!” Torg shouted at Flynn, who grimaced with a nod.

Suddenly, Torg’s connection with his Fireworms cut off.

His heart trembled when he turned back to Tyranus, shocked at what he saw.

The monster was now fully equipped in armor, donning sleek silver-grey leather that followed the contours of its body. In its hands was a pair of glistening daggers, which had just sliced Torg’s Fireworms in half.

“You can use equipment?!” Torg’s eyes bulged.

He recognized the items Tyranus was using. They were what the top combatant of the Conceptual Dimension, Elusius, had worn before her death. The silver-grey leather chest, boots, and helmet were transcendent grade, while the daggers were the best celestial grade weapons you could find.

Torg was alarmed.

A transcendent grade monster already boasted higher stats than what a person could acquire, and with equipment added to the equation, he had no idea how high Tyranus’ current stats were.

Just then, Tyranus’ figure blurred, moving beyond what Torg could react to. Pain blossomed from his chest as his entire torso burst apart like fireworks. Fortunately, Torg was in his Inferno Blaze Embodiment mode, and he swiftly recovered. Teleporting away, he clenched his teeth and, enduring the burden, activated his Incineration Domain.

When his senses combined with the domain, he observed Tyranus approaching him like a missile, its posture low and daggers at the ready. Now able to perceive Tyranus, Torg multicast another transcendent grade skill - Laser Bolt.

WHOOSH!

Six red lines appeared next to Torg and traversed space as if they were teleporting. They collided with Tyranus, three hitting its limbs, one on its head, and two in the gut. The force behind the attack sent Tyranus flying as its health plummeted by a couple of million.

Torg looked at Tyranus’ nameplate and noticed its health was in the several hundred million range. His attack, while effective, barely put a dent in its overall health. Worse, Laser Bolt had a ten second cooldown. He couldn’t spam it.

Tyranus somersaulted and kicked the air, shooting toward Torg.

Another benefit of the Incineration Domain was that it drastically reduced Torg’s teleport cooldown. He consecutively teleported away, casting lower grade skills one after another.

Fireball!

Firebolt!

Fire Bomb!

Torg made full use of his arsenal, yet Tyranus was like a nimble monkey, deftly dodging most of what Torg sent at it. Though Tyranus’ health was dropping, Torg wasn’t in his best condition. Dealing with Wrath had consumed over half of his mana pool. He didn’t have enough to slay Tyranus.

After gaining some distance from Tyranus, Torg briefly looked over the entire battlefield, dismayed at what he saw. Rammy and Isabel were locked in a stalemate with Greed and Gluttony, Flynn was engaged in combat with Wrath, while the legions below were in a bitter battle with the demons.

Tyranus’ intervention had negated any advantage the Elemental Nation had.

Although Torg was frustrated beyond belief, he remained rational and ultimately made a decision. His voice rang across the battlefield, “All troops, retreat to the gateway!”

Under his command, the legions disengaged, covering their retreat as they fell back. The demons didn’t pursue. Unlike the Elemental Nation’s army, they had suffered heavy losses.

Flynn, Isabel, and Rammy detoured Torg’s Incineration Domain. As they passed, they gave him worried looks. Torg waved his hand, shouting, “Go! I’ll be right there!”

The moment of distraction allowed Tyranus to close the distance.

“Enough,” Torg sneered. “Do you think I’m a pushover?”

Torg promptly used his highest level transcendent grade skill – Solar Lance.

A spear of condensed blue plasma extended outward from his star-like arm, reaching a dozen feet in length. Accompanied by a low hum, the air around it distorted dangerously.

As Tyranus approached, Torg swiped out.

Tyranus raised its dagger to block, but Torg’s Solar Lance cut right through its dagger and severed its arm. Tyranus’ eyes widened in surprise. Its body shifted, and for the first time during the fight, it used a skill.

Doppelganger!

Tyranus split into five copies, each no different than the other.

Instead of retreating, Tyranus and its clones pushed forward.

“It’s futile!” Torg shouted as he swung his arm.

His Solar Lance extended another dozen feet during the motion, catching Tyranus off-guard. The lance bisected all the clones in one go. As they dispersed, Tyranus finally decided to call it quits. It had already achieved its goal.

Torg hovered motionlessly as he watched Tyranus leave the range of his Incineration Domain and disappear into the distance. Holding back his exhaustion, Torg soon caught up with Flynn, Rammy, Isabel, and the legions at the gateway.
