He wished he could have a better ranged weapon. He had picked up some rocks during his trip here, but even he doubted they would be able to do anything in this circumstance. His shield and his spear were the most useful weapons in this circumstance, although he had to admit that didn’t really mean much with those purple spheres up in the air.
He took a deep breath and counted the amount of those projectiles that were in the air. One, two, three, four, and five. A total of five were up in the air, which were a serious problem for his livelihood. The fact that the monster could easily spawn more without any problems meant this was a situation he needed to take much more seriously than normal. Though, that being said…
The Udwi recalled how those spheres exploded when they impacted something. That meant he could possibly use this to his advantage to make the monster no longer able to use those projectiles. He took out a few rocks and got ready to launch them, calling upon the spirits to his assistance.
They obliged and got ready to move on his command, the rocks flying out of his hand and beginning to float in the air. Each of these stones were aimed directly at those purple spheres. However, he didn’t launch his attack just yet.
After all, he needed to move. The last thing he wanted was for this monster to pull out another ranged attack to keep him off hand. Thus, he went ahead and moved to another location to prevent a counter-attack and to ensure the monster was thrown off guard.
Within moments, he was at another location entirely and kept an eye on the current situation. The rocks were aimed at those spheres with the help of the spirits. He was more than ready to rush in upon the monster’s confusion. Yet, despite all of his current advantages, he still chose not to attack.
This was for good reason. After all, he was waiting for a single moment. A chance that could possibly end this battle right here and now without requiring any further effort on his end and to get this whole situation over with.
The moment at least one of those purple spheres were hovering over the monster itself.
The Udwi didn’t know if it was immune to its own attacks or not. However, all he knew was that there was no harm in attempting such a thing. After all, he really would prefer an easy battle rather than a serious head on fight.
So, he waited. And eventually, he got his reward: two spheres over the monster. That was when he commanded the spirits to let loose and thus those rocks went sailing through the air as fast as they could go. Within seconds the stones slammed into the spheres and thus they all exploded without much fanfare, the purple liquids splashing all over.
The ground dissolved into nothing. The monster itself got covered with purple. However, it did not get dissolved or instantly killed. Rather, it screeched and howled in pain as steam burst throughout its body on every part that was touched. Burn scars began to sprout out all over the place, with the freak thrashing its bulbous body all around from sheer pain.
What a relief. The fact that the monster wasn’t immune to its own attack gave the Udwi even more hope. Though, despite this, he was still concerned over the durability of this creature. That purple liquid was able to evaporate anything it touched and all it did was burn the giant monster? That alone gave him a bit of concern, before he shook his head and glared.
He couldn’t get distracted like this. No, he had to rush in forward with all his might no matter how bad the odds were.
The monster screeched once more in his head and turned towards the launch site. Within seconds, several more purple spheres were formed in the air and sailed directly at the tree he had been taking refuge on. That plant was turned into nothing more than ripped shreds of black wood, leaving behind ripped pieces throughout every part of its core.
However, he was fine. After all, he was in another place completely. Thus, he began to move as fast as possible. He called upon the spirits to guide his movements and they obliged, providing even more speed and a path to avoid all of those viscous puddles.
He didn’t know what that liquid did and he certainly wasn’t interested in knowing. Right here and now, his focus was to defeat this monster before anything else could happen.
One thing he did not expect was that he wasn’t being slowed down even when he got closer to the monster. Unlike last time, he didn’t have that artificial feeling of being forced to slow down, rather, he was free to continuously move at the fast speeds that he was going at right now.
Was the slowing effect perhaps due to the fact the monster was aware of his existence and thus cast some sort of protection? That would explain his slowness, but he couldn’t understand why that wouldn’t necessarily apply to protecting against ranged attacks. Nevertheless, something to think of later. Right now, he needed to murder this monster here and now before it was aware of his existence.
Without further ado, he got the chance to test the durability of this monster right here and now. He struck, shoving his spear directly into the side of this freak and piercing through the viscous liquid on its skin and deep into its guts.
At that moment, the monster was aware of the Udwi’s existence. Unfortunately, it was far too late as he had already made his attack. At that moment, the freak sent in a large swarm of extremely loud screams of pain directly into his head. Each of those voices drilled into his head over and over, making his brain pound with pain and his ears ring nonstop. However, he merely grit his teeth and called upon the spirits for help once more as he began to pull upwards. They acquiesced to his desire and within seconds, he had the strength to slice upwards.

The spear came free from the monster’s flesh and in doing so, a giant cut formed. Guts and blood began flooding out of the new opening and the monster began to freak out. In a frantic act, it attempted to crush him by rolling over right onto him. Immediately, he felt that slowing sensation strike him and he knew that moving away would be incredibly difficult.
However, he did not. Rather, he simply raised his shield and sneered as he reared back and slammed right into the incoming monster. The impact proceeded to launch the creature a small distance away, resulting in him being safe from being crushed to death.
That should have been the end. The monster would bleed to death with all its guts and everything out in the open and he would be able to move on with his life. But such a thing was not allowed as he realized something.
The wound he had inflicted was beginning to close up. The guts were slowly crawling back inside and the creature’s wails were starting to slow down. This was not optimal and something he needed to change right here and now.
The Udwi rushed forward, this time aiming for a true strike towards the head. The creature seemed to realize what he was doing as it proceeded to activate its ability, forcing him to slow down once more. However, he countered by calling upon the spirits to assist him in his quest.
They complied. He was able to bypass the slowness using the wind forcefully pushing him forward, rushing towards the head with full abandon. The monster screeched into his head and launched all of its mouth tentacles right at him, prepared to pierce through him and put an end to his life once and for all.
He was ready for such a thing. He pushed the shield forward as a means to defend against this incoming strike, hoping that the defenses he had made would be more than enough. However, just as a precaution, he had the spirits ready to defend should the necessary moment come.
The shield broke upon the incoming assault, but it had done its job. None of those tentacles were able to attack him at all, thus allowing him to move on forward with his spear. The monster screeched and desperately tried to move, though it failed as the wound was still in the process of healing.
It didn’t seem like it could spawn another purple sphere. It couldn’t run away. Last but not least, it couldn’t strike again with the tentacles, it had no time. Thus, the monster proved its resilience one last time by attacking the only way it knew how.
By amplifying its screeches even more and drilling those noises directly into the Udwi’s head. He had to admit that the pain was far beyond anything he had dealt with thus far, but in the end…
It was nothing compared to the excessively loud gunfire that the British had used against his people. This sound that was being sent directly into his brain, while it did cause pain, was ultimately nothing in the true grand scheme of things. Thus, he was able to go forward and strike true directly between the eyes.
The monster wailed and he could feel it getting ready to screech once more. So, with a growl and a roar, he lifted his foot and stomped the spear even deeper, the hilt going nearly all the way into the head of this freak. At that moment, it went still, before twitching and spazzing out, the clear signs of the death throes of a monster on its deathbed. Then, unceremoniously, it went still.
Then and only then did it begin to turn to dust with all the viscous liquid it had left behind. The spear that had pierced right through its head clattered to the ground, where the spirits picked it up and delivered it back to the Udwi’s waiting hand.
With that, he took a while to take a deep breath. Then, he breathed out in relief. No more voices in his head and no more annoying sounds. He was free to continue on to whatever he wanted to do, he could simply–
The spirits warned him of something coming closer. He quickly hefted his spear up and turned towards the source of that noise, getting ready for another assault by a new enemy. However, he wasn’t too worried, as he was certain of one thing.
Nothing could possibly threaten him in this land. This one single monstrosity that had strength far beyond anything this world could offer was merely nothing more than a stepping stone, what else could provide a possible challenge?
The answer was a person. No, scratch that, he wasn’t even particularly sure if this thing was a human at all. Not when those eyes seemed to lack the light of life in them.
That black armor was menacing, similar to those strange armored beasts he had seen wandering around. The face was nothing more than mere black bones that were compiled into a look of absolute rage. Last but not least were the two giant horns that were sprouting out of its helmet that pointed towards the sky, curved similar to the ox that settled around his native land.
What concerned him the most were the weapons this thing had. A spear, a sword, a bow and arrows, and last but not least, a club. This thing was strapped to the teeth for a fight, though it did not make any moves to start the battle. Rather, it looked at him for a brief while, before it put a single hand on the blade handle.
“You.” The voice that came out was muted by the mask that it wore, yet had a gravely rumbling tone to it, “Did you happen to see a giant bug monster with a human face around here?”
What? That was why this thing came here? To ask about the monster he had just slain a little while ago?
He smirked. “Of course. After all, I took care of it myself just a little while ago. Why, was that thing your friend?”
The thing in front of him paused. Those dead eyes blinked, before a spark of anger burst through. At least for a little second, before it turned towards amusement and finally, excitement.
A process he was not quite thrilled about.
“No.” It rumbled as it tapped its blade hilt, “It was my prey.”
“Well, what a shame. I guess you have nothing to do here now, huh?”
“No. I still do.” In an instant, the blade was ripped out of its sheath and aimed directly at the Udwi. “I have a much better prey in front of me now.”
At that, he couldn’t help but to click his tongue. How utterly annoying.
