Chapter 24- The Oak Tree

Chapter 24- The Oak Tree

"Outside! Outside!" yipped Nox as they all ventured out, and onto the more personal gardens of Sarah. Of whom directed several servants as they placed down a long, iron wrought table and chairs for everyone to sit upon. Afterwards came the standard array of table cloth, silverware, and glassware. This was accompanied by a few half kilogram blocks of Shadowed Marble all along the centre of the table, in order to reveal everything being placed down upon the surface. For although the moonlight high above revealed much with its glow, it was still rather dim where they stood. Hence the need for the Marble.

All the while, the children were happily dancing amongst the legs of the servants and legs of the table and chairs. Yes. This did cause quite a few problems with the people bringing out the various items in order for everyone to enjoy their meal. However, they were stopped not by an adult, but by Anasi who took hold of the collars of his friends, apologised profusely on their behalf, and dragged their persons off to the side. Whereupon they continued to play with one another, but in a small flowerbed full of yellow and blue colours.

The adults themselves were chatting about various topics, when the children picked up on the word of "Feast" several times. Curious, they slinked forwards, careful enough so that they do not disturb those still working, but were caught regardless. For just as they moved within half a metre close to Azazel, she did turn around quickly and lifted the young hybrid into the air. Yes. This did startle him somewhat to cause his voice to come out as a loud yelp, but was calmed quickly with a great hug against her person.

"Muu," Nox pouted up at her person, and puffed up his cheeks to show his displeasure for such antics.

"Sorry Nox," she grinned down at him as he was placed back onto the ground. Whereupon he did yip several times before rejoining his friends, and watched as Mia jumped on top of his person, resulting in a small rough and tumble between the pair. Of which absorbed Maya, who let loose an irritated growl as she used her teeth to playfully bite her sister's ear a few times before switching to the other's tails.

"Aw, that's so cute," cooed the little God King, who squirmed a tad at the scene, then whirled around towards the Ageless to inquire something about the boy-child.

However, before she could even utter a word, he shook his head vehemently, and spoke in a low tone, "No."

"But you don't even know what this o- I was going to ask."

"Azazel," his eyes flashed once with irritation, "The inquiry of whether or not Nox can visit your person in the Azzarathean Pantheon is always asked this whenever you come to visit. As always, the answer will be a no."

"Why not?" Now it was her turn to puff up her cheeks with displeasure towards his person.

"Can you promise to protect his small person, Azazel, when the protections which keeps all children safe in my own, fades away and leaves him vulnerable to anything and everything." This left the other silent, as her eyes became downcast, "I thought not."

Yes. The protections given to children within the Terran Pantheon did not stretch over to other worlds. Which meant that the you child would become vulnerable to attacks against his person, and if someone desired to have him removed in a more permanent manner, then they could do so with little to know repercussions against them. For although such a thing would result in the death of their person, they would simply enter into the reincarnation system of Azzarath. As opposed to the opposite, where their entire being would have to endure something which is worse than death by the hands of the Ageless.

Therefore, Nox was not allowed to leave to enter the other system of worlds which Azazel controlled. For she could not adequately protect his small self from the terrible system within that Pantheon of Gods and Goddesses. Of which, in the last millennia, had caused the reigning individuals to become rather hostile to one another. Even though there were laws to prevent an open war between them, they still found the loopholes in which to conduct their nefarious deeds. Yes. If they found out that the grandchild of Azazel had come to visit her, and was not at all well protected, they would indeed take him and use his person as a way to blackmail her person into doing whatever it is that they wished.

In any case, as such thoughts filtered through the little God King, Anasi had come up to their persons, and tugged on the garments of the pair. Which, in turn, caused their minds to snap out of wherever they had gone in order to glance down upon the child who held an inquiry upon his lips. "Yes, little one?" came the voice of the Kitsune, who was the first to take note of his presence.

"Um," began the young Arachne, who became nervous the moment he noted that both God Kings had turned their attention to him. Whereupon he did swallow a dry mouthful of saliva, and shook slightly as he voiced his thoughts, "What's the 'Feast' you were talking about?"

"Ah, yes. That..." At this point, a curious sight formed in front of the child, for they were rather uncomfortable about such a thing, and did not desire to disclose such a topic to his person. "You will have to wait until your older," came his reply after a long pause. To which the other simply sighed, turned around, and went back to his friends. As he knew it would be pointless to inquire further on a topic that made the pair quite uncomfortable.

Of which led his person to witness his three friends bounding away from the group, and head towards one of the climbing, Oak trees which were placed within the large garden of the Goddess Sarah. Once he noted what was happening, he did scramble to catch up to their persons, which took him a few moments, as the ground, though soft, was not as difficult to traverse as many would believe. This meant that instead of running quickly with a slight fear of falling over, Anasi could run as fast as his spindle-like legs could take him without the need to worry about breaking them from an uneven ground.

However, this did not mean that he would not trip on occasion. Yes. He did thusly, but was within arm's reach of Maya, who did her best to catch his person. Unfortunately, the pair tumbled forwards, crashing into the base of the tree with enough force to shake a leaf or two free from one of the lower branches. Which caused the other two friends to peer down from their perch with widened eyes and perked ears.

"You okay?" called out Mia, who was currently being helped by Nox as she wanted to head towards her sister and Anasi to help them.

As this occurred, however, the Arachne found that his legs were waving in the air off to one side, and that his face was on one of the more softer parts of Maya's body. Of which was the chest, as it was one of two overly fluffy parts of the girl-child's body. Yes. This applied to all furred, girl-children, as many at a young age did not enjoy their clothing, and would often run around without. To combat this, the system known as Command, with the direction of the Ageless, caused all of the more animalistic children to create more fur upon that which was normally covered up to hide such extremities.

However, Anasi's face brightened somewhat as soon as he noted this, and especially where one of his hands had landed, which was on the left side of her chest. This led to his little heart to race, as he scrambled to his spindle-like legs with a, "Sorry," upon his lips. Of which was soon followed up by, "Are you okay?" as his hands reached down to help her to her feet just as her sister appeared, pounced on her person, and bore her back onto the ground.

"I was so worried, Maya!" mewed Mia, who proceeded to rub her sister's right cheek with her left.

"You okay, Anasi?" called out Nox from above their heads. Whereupon he did have the appearance of one who was lazing upon a branch. However, he was actually helping one of the sisters down, and had become stuck in this position that the Arachne had found him in.

"Yeah," he called back, and proceeded to dust off his coat with his hands just as Mia and Maya stood back up with a giggle.

However, before they were able to speak a another word, a voice drifted over the garden and into their ears. Of which caused the twins and the hybrid to perk up their ears, and widened their eyes at the words of, "Dinner's ready."
