Chapter 24 : Super Spy

Chapter 24 : Super Spy

The spy of Naoki was named Dimitri, and right now he was very anxious, he was about to go into the castle of Snake skulls with a sack full of metal bricks and a bunch of burning incense in his hands. Remembering Robert’s words made him even more afraid,

“Place these in the exits of corridors except the main one, and some in the guard’s bunks if possible, and get the hell out of there before the incense sticks burn out”

Robert told him that the castle was going up in flames, all thanks to what he was about to do.

with a bundle of smoking incense sticks in his hands, looking like a walking chimney, Dimitri walked into the Castle, only to be stopped by the guards.

“Stop there, What the hell is this brother? Are you trying to smoke everyone out of the castle?” The guard that stopped Dimitri broke into a laugh. He has seen Dimitri coming into the castle to work and was thus had acquaintance with him.

“Indeed, Boss Yugimi had ordered to smoke out the bugs that are in his room,” Dimitry paused a moment before continuing “Are you sure you want to make lord lose his sleep?”

Dimitri had a sense of humor and quick wit, he had the thought pattern of a fox. Although he was not someone who can make up strategies or lead wars, this made him the perfect candidate for spying and sabotage.

“Oh, so it’s that. No wonder Boss was so irritable for the last few days!” The guard nodded in understanding.

“So what is in the sack?” It was his job to make sure that nothing dangerous was brought into the castle and thus queried.

“Its some holders for the incense sticks, wanna check?”

After showing the box-shaped brick like bombs to the guard, Dimitri went on and on about the medicinal properties of the black powder that was inside.

The guard smelled it and decided that it was just as Dimitri described, and allowed him to enter the castle.

Dimitri had his back covered with cold sweat when he was being questioned by the guard. Getting into the castle, he immediately started doing what Robert had instructed.

He already knew the structure and pathways of this castle. It had most of its rooms and halls opening into corridors, if the exits were blocked, they would have no other ways to go out. He was not sure why Robert wanted a single pathway that had an opening from every corridor into and led to the main entrance to not be blocked.

Isidro waited atop a high building in the Cutthroat’s valley, silently observing a man mounted on an elemental panther, patrolling the streets. He had his rifle and a bag of ammo resting near him, He had been assigned to this post and was to observe the experts and track their movements, his job was to get as many headshots as soon as he gets the signal. Isidro was really waiting for that moment, Robert had promised them a good position in his personal army if this mission was to go as they planned.

Isidro had a good view of the cityscape before him and seeing the large picture, he was able to grasp the core of many of Robert’s orders. Robert had ordered to move the Hwacha into the street, along with a hidden cannon. The hwacha was inside a carriage and didn’t need any hiding. From here he saw that this cannon had a straight view into the entrance of the castle. The other hwacha was at the opposite entrance of the castle.

The militiamen were starting to gather in front of the castle and in the street, they didn’t stand out from the crowd of thugs in the Cutthroat’s valley. Many wore dark cloaks that covered the guns with them.

Robert had grouped the men so that every group had a fire mage in it, thus they would be able to light up the lamps inside the guns when the time comes. The men had been strictly ordered to not hold the gun in any way that will extinguish the flame, the lamps worked on vegetable oil and thus reduced the danger of exploding or flaming up.

Mike was in the frontline, the street, waiting for the signal. His orders were to begin the attack either when explosions rang out from the castle, or a red signaling light orb exploded in the sky. He had a group of men that had normal guns around him.

He was the long-range attacker and if someone happened to escape his sniping, the others would take them out in closer ranges. Mike checked his gun and ammo for one last time, he also had the responsibility of keeping an eye on one of the experts on the streets. After taking out this expert, his job was to be the rearguard of the attack, to guard against anyone from outside the Cutthroat’s valley attacking them.

Dimitri was running around the castle placing the bombs on the exits of corridors, there were a large wall and stone doors in all these places and if they exploded, would definitely create a blockade as they planned. He stopped only to pass the random soldier walking by, Dimitri smiled, nodded or greeted them just like it was any other day. He truly had the skills for being a good spy.

Dimitri placed all the required bombs with a little more length of the incense stick to spare. Looking into the sack and seeing that he still had three more bombs, He decided to place them somewhere that would really do some damage.

His targets were the bunks of the guards, he stealthily entered into one and placed all the rest of the bombs in that room, at a distance. Tiptoeing out of the room, he walked towards the exit.

Dimitri walked out of the castle, the last incense stick in his hand that was used to know the time of the explosion was about to be burned out. Just after he got out of the castle and made a small distance, the first explosion rang out from the castle.

“BOOM!”

If the scene was seen by someone from Earth, it would have looked just like those badass heroes walking away from explosions in movies.
