Chapter 9: Visiting neighbors

Cover story 17: A fun epidemic

A real comedian can be hit without any comedy and still come out funny without trying. A couple sitting and yet they are the laughter of the house. It's her, and it's him, they kiss even if a moment like this is wasted on them who don't take them serious enough. At some point you would have to be taken seriously because that is the demand of respect we want, but who deserves it really and will it ever get worse. Are the people not letting you buy or you too scared to be judged?

Maybe you can do better

After that previous situation I needed some right hand men on my side. Especially if I were to try and live my life. I mean I saw an early death written down in fate as if I had angered a pastor telling me I will be going to hell. I mean I might, but in some religions the hells reincarnation. I had ten candidates in mind, but that's information for another day.

...

The two candidates I chose were my neighbors, I call the both of them Lefty and Righty. Right about now they're stuck in my basement with a bathroom, access to the fridge and locked doors. I'll be back soon enough. The doors look locked but it would be funnier to leave them opened just a bit, because it makes it funnier when they notice they could have left just missed out on the chance. Welp time to start leaving for an expedition.

Greetings, Me.

I needed inspiration, how can I become a king if I can’t even understand the points a peasant makes. Because right now I am a peasant. I checked the mirror looking everywhere except my eyes, and I looked like I can fly, I felt happiness, it felt nice. I packed my bags, took a comb with me, took spare clothing with me and just wrapped up closing "the doors", check. I took my bicycle and off I headed. When heading back to my beginnings, I really noticed the difference. The atmosphere was a complete shift from the scenery to scenery, maybe a lunar eclipse.

The seagulls were flying, I could see cars, people in the distance and the water in the ocean was as clean as it could be. You really forget that the sky is red where I live because of the bad infrastructure and pollution, I would suspect the reason I haven't gotten sick because my body decided it liked green house gases, I might get sick because my body is cancerous and might get sick out of nature. I was riding and pushing through the streets and the ocean, it glimmered with the sun's rays. The plants were beautiful, but breathing in too much air made me cough a bit. I was reaching home. The books I hated to look at would be the kids picture books but missing the feeling of looking out at the blueness of the sky was a thing I missed, I felt as though the sky was red because it was angry at me, but as I read it in books, it was like experiencing novocaine, I became happy not that I felt anything, it was beautiful that was it, believeing what I could experience.

(You're gonna die, you have an enemy way sooner than needed to be turn back)

Creak the bicycle went when the break hit, and the house door was open. It was laundry day (friday) and an old lady came out. She had straightened hair, with an inclosed hairball stuck behind her head, while two pointy hair strands were sticking out in a curvature motion. She was short, and was wearing a kimono as she struggled getting down the stairs. She takes a few seconds noticing me, it was so long ago since I last saw them.

(I didn't miss em)

“Ooh who may you be, are you a traveler?”.

...

“Did you say a traveler?”, asked grandpa Hiroko.

... (What if, I had introduced myself) --

“Grandpa, Grandma, how has life been, it's your young boy Atanus”.

He stretches out his hands to fill his arms with bear-like hugs.

“What, it can’t be, it was so long ago my dear, and you've grown three times taller and fatter than me oh dear, Hiroko bring everybody to greet our guest it has been too long, ... since so long”.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

However grandma Hana had suspicions, started interrogating him to really see if it was him,

"Favorite dish", she asked.

"Potato and soy sauce".

"What's your religion", she asked.

"But grandma religion is the worship of the devil, ... Buddism".

"Just because we had one bad day in our past doesn't mean religion is bad, that is not devils worship, happy to see you again", she said giving the bear-hug he wanted a bit of.

“Do you wanna eat anything, I have missed you since you decided to go out into the world, I bet it has been hard", she said as if she wanted to talk to me.

...

“Not even a bit grandma”.

People came rushing in and as he was expecting the kids were just as enthusiastic of meeting him as he thought.

“It can’t be, big brother Atanus”.

“It can’t be, big brother Atanus”.

Said the two brown bearded twins Makoto and Yuki at the same time, as they stroked their beards. They then hugged him and carried him out to the kitchen to eat food together with the family.

“Today you will eat at our house”.

“Today you will eat at our house".

“Join us, son", said Hana.

As they feasted together, Neova relaxed a bit, but not forgetting why he came back after so long. He never planned on coming back, only to further his understanding of a peasants life to be one day king.

(How do I leave now when all this is over, hope those two don't resort to cannibalism before I show)

... (What if, I stayed a stranger too them) --

“Hello miss, can I stay the night here I have no money tho".

(No no no no (Who says that), I did change my hair style, grow taller and look different, and colored my hair as well as it being whiter compared to before)

"Hi miss I may have endangered my chances at survival, may I stay the night, no visible income with me but I will pay back in gratitude".

Neova could not even move his hand, as he did not want to, as he was paralyzed.

...

“Do you have a problem sir my old age weakened my eyes so I can't notice the smaller details, you seem paralyzed, if you want you can stay over for lunch and dinner and then head out" said grandma Hana.

...

“I will see with you, miss”.

“Did brother Atanus show up”.

“Did brother Atanus show up”.

...

“No sadly, but we found a guest boys", she says looking a bit concerned.

As she gestures towards Neova, unbeknownst it was him.

(Atleast now you can leave, and nobody got hurt either, atleast check the cards you used too play with and act aloof, also give your damn head a play area it gets boring)

(Shut it David)

(Oh no I'm Kevin my brothers out for groceries)

...

“I miss brother Atanus”.

“I miss big brother Atanus".

"They get like this every time a guest shows up, but since we haven't had guests in months it makes sense, oh come", said Hana.

Atanus feeling a bit sad, but when your sad all the time you get used to that already so he was numbed to their expression. He walks stilted all the way through the hallway, as he sees colors and all different kinds of foods. He had to protect his eyes even using his hands, but his reaction was nowhere too be seen as he sat down, he got to meet with neighbors from a third perspective.

Grandpa Hiroko was feeding the youngest toddler in the family. What was his name? The family expanded since I was gone. Big brother Sakura was still as distant as ever, even staring blankly at the table as he sat eating. He was a good leader atleast before it felt like for Neova, but he looked sad. Big sister Ichika seems tired, but she is as talkative as ever with the family. And…

...

“Where did you come from?”, asked twin sister Akari.

Atanus looked startled.

"Geez, you talk to your deceased mother like that no wonder she died ... no no wait my mother died not yours ... I wouldn't know".

"Geez if I hadn't gotten over her death long ago I'd be have you kicked for tresspassing", she said angered and slowly melowed out, quiet now.

“I don’t get sad, I get nothing, that's why I buy stuff to fill my heart so that I can manufacture a heart to grow ten times bigger, like that green thing in that picture book".

“What does that mean”.

She was leaning on her arm as she was asking the guest.

“Get some sleep, Imma head to bed ... I heard some stories about your gone brother wondered if he had the same taste in entertainment as me, yeah yeah".

"Sure", she said.

"You'd let a stranger into your deceased brothers room".

"He's not dead he left at eighteen, he should be fine, grandma said so", she said, understandable.

As Atanus patted her head ruffling up her hair a strong nostalgia came across her shocking her, making her lose balance and plummet head first towards the table after her hand lost grip.

--

(What choice was best, I asked as I went to sleep. Even my bed was untouched for so long. Imma head to sleep man). Neova slept at the corner, while the house was moving as it felt. But a red mist was creeping in. Fin.
