It had been about one week since, most likely, Jace defeated a lieutenant, and with only two captains left Luke hadn’t been idle. Over the past month, Luke had been looking into several outstanding people to form two squads who could go toe to toe with a lieutenant, with him of course. No one was supposed to fight a lieutenant until about three months into the six-month timer unless they hard countered it.
Luke dipped his quill in an ink jar as he looked at the list of names. Out of all of the one stood out she was the best. Tabitha. She had neglected to tell anyone her last name so far but that was hardly an issue. One thing that newly integrated worlds didn’t know is that leveling speed is directly impacted by your affinity to the class you have. So, someone like Luke who had a high affinity could manage a whole town by himself and keep up with other people’s levels. The other side was as Elizabeth had said, not everyone had enough affinity to even get to level 25. It got worse after as you also had to have enough records to evolve after level 25. You gain records by going about what your class was meant for.
For someone like Luke who was a Hero of Light, he would gain records for having a peaceful and welcoming community. While someone like Elizabeth with a crafting class would get records for crafting new and powerful things. One thing Luke was certain of was that Tabitha had a very high affinity for her class, Ice Shaper(Rare). She was already level 27 and had hunted down 2 captains with her team since the start of the monster war. She had started out as a Mage(Common) but learned how to fight at close range rather than long. She had even gotten some lessons from Luke early on after hitting level 15 and asking him for help.
Tabitha fought by creating enhanced ice armor around herself and acting as the tank. She was able to keep up with the monsters by using her Ice Shaping(Rare) to move her armor around with mana rather than her body. By doing this she is able to keep up with even the fastest of monsters right now without the fear of getting hurt. Luke might have to show her that her armor could be broken if it didn’t happen soon. It was dangerous to believe you were invincible and it would get her killed if she believed it.
After making some notes about her Luke just grabbed the team she had already been leading and put them as her squad, no need to cause chaos after all. Her squad consisted of two Fighters(Common), three Archers(common), and two Mages(Common) with one of them having Healing Magic(Common). This team had already proven they were strong, but Luke was still going to train them. Luke then went to the next name on the list, Elizabeth’s. She had also not mentioned her last name. Luke leaned back while he skimmed through his mental notes of her.
Stolen story; please report.
First, she would fight any kind of controlling element she knew of. Second, she was a really good inventor but alright combatant. Third, Luke would need her for his revised plan to save humanity. Forth, Elizabeth had created some powerful weapons so far but required the person who wanted to use her weapons to pass a test, so far no one had.
Elizabeth isn’t a strong combatant really, of course, she is with her tech but people with combat classes could use that tech to a much higher degree after some training and that was what Luke wanted to do with Elizabeth’s squad. Luke was hoping to push Elizabeth in the direction of a non-combat leader who would give out orders and supply powerful weapons and armor. Frankly, she was too important to lose to a fight. She would be able to help his community better than anyone but himself. Luke had already come up with a way to help her change by showing how much her inventions could help his town. He could only hope it would go well.
As Luke was finishing up his paperwork for the day his mental alarm went off signaling him that it was time for the squads to meet. Luke stood up and channel The World into his movement spell, Flash. Magic and martial skills both had a mechanic of being able to create sub-skills or spells for magic. The sub-skill could do some things better than the base skill would allow but it would always come at a cost. Flash was just a spell that increased Luke's dexterity stat by 50 allowing him to speed up but when The World was channeled into Flash it let Luke teleport anywhere within 100 meters on the ground and cost 100 mana per teleport. With Luke having over 2,000 mana he could chain it together for some distance.
Luke did so to reach the meeting hall in four jumps, appearing in a flash of light at the podium at the end of the room. Everyone shielded their eyes from the blast of light and was shocked to see Luke standing at the podium as if he had always been there. After everyone settled down Luke cleared his throat, “I’ve gathered you here today to grant you the opportunity to better help those around you. As you have no doubt noticed you have been ahead of your peers since the start. Maybe you started out as a higher level after the tutorial or put in the work since but no matter how you got here you stand at the top.” Luke waited a couple of seconds for his words to sink in before continuing. “I stand before you with an offer. One of great importance and poise, I’m giving you the offer to fight against the strongest enemies that plague Llyn. Not only to help one’s neighbor but themselves too. I’m forming two squads to help me fight the lieutenants and the general, and I want you to be a part of it. Will you join me?” Luke held out his hand as if to pick whoever grab it up. Tabitha was the first to grab his hand and was pulled up next to Luke. Her team followed not long after. Soon everyone was on the platform that held the podium and Luke was no longer looking down at them. No, he was looking them in the eyes now as equals.
