I was looking at nothing. We were standing on the platform; there was nothing there; it was completely dead. I wondered if Veronica's information was wrong. Valdor, standing beside me, seemed to be staring at something sticking out at the end of the platform. We may have gotten tricked into a dead area filled with graffiti everywhere. Valdor suddenly started to move to the end of the platform and seemed to keep looking forward and focused on something.
“Hey! Old man, where are you going?” I asked.
“Found it!” he commented back without turning around. ¨
I followed suit after him, and when we reached the end, a long handle was on the track's ground. He jumped down on the grass and grabbed the handle with both hands.
“Old chubby! It would be best if you came back up to the platform. It's dangerous because trains still pass through this station on their way to the end station Akalla.” I told him.
He looked at me and smiled back before he pulled the handle towards himself with his bragging muscles pumping out from his way to tight t-shirt for a guy with that build. There was a clicking sound behind me, and I turned around to see the dust of air come up from the ground with a scratching sound on the platform, slowly fading away in two directions. I didn’t see anything; there was nothing there, but something happened on the platform. Valdor came up to the platform and looked forward with an awe expression. What the fuck was he seeing as I didn’t see. There was nothingness in front of us, and he had an awe facial expression of all the graffiti or all the crap of alcohol bottles on the platform. He started to walk forward, and I slowly followed him when he suddenly turned his head to the left and uttered:
“Put your right-hand om my left shoulder.”
Hm…is he trying to play a hero or what? What’s cool about turning your head to the side and commenting strangely on touching someone?
“Eh, old fart, you know we are on a mission…right?” I asked sarcastically.
“Just do it,” he commented.
I slowly raised my hand and put my hand on his shoulder. A blue burning light started to burn into a big rectangle from the ground. The blue fire covered a giant wall on fire with an open door on the bottom where the clicking sound earlier came from. Now, this was fucking shocking. The blue fire kept going and showed a big building on fire. I had never seen this kind of crap before.
“What the fudge is that?” I asked.
“Welcome to the train station, Pala Star,” he commented.
I hope he was joking about the star comment because it sounds dumb.
“Eh…Goldie! What is this fire supposed to be?” I asked.
He turned around his head and looked at me, commenting:
“This is the train station that Veronica was talking about. Welcome to the train station, which will take you to other areas like Paladin Woods. If you are lucky, you can find a ticket to Valiant, but that is very hard to come by. Now, keep holding my shoulder until we have passed the door.”
We started to move forward, closing in and passing the door through the blue fire. Many sounds were heard, with different creatures covering the platform and even humans there. Humans were everywhere, and the platform we stood on earlier had disappeared.
“You can move your hand now, Berk! Only from the outside must you walk in with someone with strong powers, and because you are a petty human, you can’t see the train station. Of course, we had to activate the special door to go in. The reason is because of your human nature. The only way for you to see it was by touching someone with strong powers, and with your weak powers, we were forced to enter through the human world.”
I removed my hand from his shoulders. Was he that strong that I needed him to be able to see the train station?
I thought this guy was only muscles and bone. Pft…I can’t be that weak as a fudger; he is probably exaggerating.
We walked down the stairs, and I could see Valdors yellow aura mounting around him like he was on alert for something. It's like he was on fire, but it was more like some light fire where you could see through it.
“Hey, Goldie! Why don’t you chill? It's only humans combined with creatures on the platform waiting for some train?”
I must say, there are a lot of different creatures here, and they hang around with humans, which I found a little bit weird.
“The ones you think are not humans, it's fellow Valiantians. We may look like humans, but we are much stronger than the petty people on Earth. We were once humans but got superpowers before the war, so I don’t count us as humans anymore.” He commented back.
Talk about a guy with a buzz kill ruining our bonding moment. Still, his smiley personality before was so severe now it felt like being around the guy wasn’t that funny anymore.
“So…what are we looking for?” I asked.
“I need to check around the platform. You will visit the kiosk and talk to the woman there who provided the information to Veronica.” He told me.
We separated for a moment, and I walked up to a newspaper kiosk with newspapers, or as I should describe it, only one paper with what they call news. The woman in the kiosk wore an outfit that looked like an air hostess. She had light blue eyes that were impossible to miss, black hair and glasses that were way too big for her eyes. She had like big…what should I call it…melons with a way to deep cleavage and lipstick with the color of red, which I found a little bit weird for a person selling newspapers. I looked around as a reflex, looking for any cameras to see if this was a prank or a porno movie that was going to be shot live at the train station. I was the confirmation guy walking over to the kiosk to confirm the melons. Oops, I meant the information. When I came up to her, she was smiling at me, like I was someone she knew. Before I was going to say something, she commented:
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
“So… it's you who are Veronica’s favorite. You were cute.”
O…M…G, I just heard Veronica and favorite. I must be some hotshot in the Van Polan organization.
“Eh…you know Veronica?” I asked, looked around, and saw Valdor looking at people suspiciously.
She had a smirk on her face and answered:
“Yes, she is my boss.”
I am not going to do one more. Oh my god, that would lose its purpose completely the first time I thought of it.
“Ah! Right…I knew that. How long have you been working for Victoria?” I asked to start a conversation.
“Three years.” She answered and made a small jump, looking like a happy jump, and her melons bounced like two basketballs, which made me look down at her cleavage for one second.
“Okay! So…you maybe know why I am here?” I asked her.
“Of course!” She answered and made a small jump again, so it looked like a basketball game was happening with the melons.
I didn’t know how long I would hold on before I started to stare at her chest. She leaned forward, and I tried my best not to look down at her cleavage and tried to turn my head slowly away while she whispered in my right ear:
“The information we got is that the man with the green hand will board a train to Clushkin woods in 20 minutes with Grawlers as bodyguards.”
Grawlers…What the fudge is that?
“Eh…what is Grawlers?” I said with a lowered voice.
She made a weird facial expression.
“I am shocked you never heard of them before. They move where you don’t see; they strike when you don’t see and kill you when you don’t see. Only the strongest can see them lurking where there is nothing.” She explained, which made me look closer into her eyes to see if she was on something.
Oooookey…maybe she is a psycho and some poet. I just smiled and nodded like I understood what she just told me.
“BERK!” someone shouted from my right side, and when I turned to the right and saw Valdor trying to reach me with his hand, I looked down and saw blood on my stomach on the left side.
I backed a few steps back but couldn’t see anything sticking into my stomach. Still, I could feel something inside me, and I quickly moved backward while reaching out to see if I could grab something. I reached for something like a hand, and suddenly, some creature looking like a mix of a troll and goblin showed its bald green head with black teeth, making a weird growling sound.
“For fudge's sake, your breath!” I commented and had a little bit of pain on my left side, but maybe it didn’t hit any critical organs…or perhaps it did.
I released my hand from the creature, and it suddenly disappeared. What the hell is happening here? How did it disappear? I quickly took a few steps to the side of the kiosk and moved behind it to the other side, trying to find Valdor, who had vanished into thin air. I turned the corner and saw Valldor fighting with what looked like air; I knew this guy was a psycho because he smiled too much. The yellow aura or fire from his arms looked like superheroes, though I could barely create some black aura on one finger. This guy had his whole arm on like a fire aura gushing out like there was no ending. Suddenly, something hard hit me in the chest. Again, getting hit by air made me fall on the floor, and I quickly tried to get up while trying to catch air from the hit when Valdor screamed out in the air:
“ITS GRAWLERS! THEY ARE INVISIBLE UNTIL YOU MANAGE TO TOUCH THEM. KEEP YOUR DISTANCE FROM THEM!”
No shit, Sherlock! I haven’t noticed anything that I can’t see.
“HOW AM I GOING TO KEEP MY DISTANCE IF I CAN’T SEE THEM GOLDIE? WHAT THE HELL IS THAT KIND OF ADVICE OLD MAN!” I yelled back.
I was looking around 180 degrees, trying to fake like I knew they were around me, but this is freaking impossible to grasp where the next hit will come from. If I try to jump, maybe I will get stabbed again by an object; if I move too quickly in any direction, I can get stabbed or kicked, so there is only one freaking option, try to sneak in low on knee level and try to get a hit. Suddenly, a sound came from my left side. I went low with my body and made a slide kick on the ground, hearing something falling not far from me. I hurried in that direction, and when my hand touched something, a Grawler appeared with an ugly expression in what I think was a facial one. I gave it a right hook, leaning to the floor with my right arm, and elbowed it in the face to make sure it passed out. I saw a sword on the floor and several Grawlers suddenly showing up from the thin air, moving towards me. I grabbed the sword, grabbed the hand of the Grawler on the ground, and slowly dragged him away from the group trying to surround me.
Why did they have headbands?
They are fricking invisible; maybe they are the offspring of some turtle that had a miscarriage with this as the result of some experiment. I kept moving with the Grawler, and more of them walked away from Valdor with all attention on me now, who had captured one of them. I suppose they move around like family and care for each other. I need to think of some plan to fight these creatures. I don’t think they will bail if I kill the one I have captured. Hm…It has a headband; maybe I can try to use it as some rope, swing it around, feel the air, see if I can feel something, and then swing the sword in that direction. It seems like a great plan in my mind…at least, it’s something I don't want to be judged on right now in the decision-making. I released the hand, and every Grawler disappeared. I quickly removed the head band on the Grawler and grabbed its hand again…okay, so that's how it is!
This is so not a thought-out plan that I seem to have. Wait a minute…If It’s hand touches me…I will be able to see all the Grawlers… Maybe I need to have one of them beside me…or not a Grawler.
“Hey! Ugly face! Do you want to team up to kill your friends? I asked the creature on the ground and heard nothing because it had probably passed out from my elbow earlier.
“I suppose the silence is a no!”
I started to cut through the Grawler's hand, and it woke up screaming like some weird animal howling. It caught the attention of the last ones fighting with Valdor, and their focus shifted towards me instead. I managed to cut through the hand and looked closely at the group that slowly had moved closer to me but didn’t attack because one of their comrades was on their way to die. I looked seriously at them, holding the sword still in my left hand, and put the Grawler's hand in my pocket.
“Guys, you ruined my outfit with all the freaking blood. So evil you guys are,” I smirked at them. One of them on the right side with a purple head band took one step forward, and I quickly said:
“One more step and your turtle friend here will get the sword in its head.” With a serious look in my eyes, the purple head stopped.
I managed to lose most of the buttons on my shirt. I grabbed the hand from my pocket and put it on the left side of my stomach and wrapped the head band around my stomach to both stop the bleeding with the hand and also have it touch my skin so I could see these monsters all the time. Finally, I can fight with real creatures instead of air.
“Stand still so I can count everyone, One…Two…Three…Four…Fudge it. It's like 20 of you that will soon be dead anyway.” I said with a smile.
Someone with a cloak suddenly showed up close to Valdor with a green hand pointing a finger in my direction. Shit! That must be the bastard we have been looking for.
