"Do you understand why this tournament is quite a big deal, James?" Says a very mysterious figure hidden behind the shadows of their awfully dark room while someone stands still in the middle of the room.
"I know it's crucial already, so quit interrupting my day." The rebel elf in the middle of the room defiantly answers the shadow in the room, who sounds displeased at the tone of this so-called James.
{Sigh} "Just make sure not to kill anyone during the tournament, alright? All your matches are already arranged, so there's no need to go overboard." Says the person is hidden in the shadows as their appearance is revealed to the audience.
A somewhat frail and tall woman who sits on some sort of high throne while wearing some expensive purple robes like it's no big deal. This mysterious woman was none other than the Queen of Azrael. The individual in the middle would be her son.
The kingdom of Azrael was famous for its programs that let ordinary people have a 'shot' at royalty, albeit almost all of them were simply for show. The cruel truth was that the difference between royalty and commoners in terms of magic was simply too much to be overcome by mere training.

The weapons the royals used were top tier, and so were their magical academies; thus, no commoner in the last five hundred years had ever passed the knight test before, not even the kids from rich, wealthy individuals from their village.
As to why the Queen would be requesting their son to control his bloodlust, it would be because James was a prodigy with an extremely high potential, but that would be disqualified if he 'accidentally' killed someone during a final test fight.
For a kingdom held together by the hope of anyone being able to fight some royalty every five years, it would be devasting if someone of such high rank cheated their way into knighthood without passing the test, especially with rumors already spreading that the tournaments were always rigged.
Civil war would cripple any nation, including Azrael, which would be why the Queen would want to make sure that outcome would never come to reality. However, the Queen's words seemed to have little effect on the young prince, who simply ignored their mother's request.
"I will try to control my power, but I can't promise several people won't die days later after fighting me." Prince James swiftly and provocatively taunted his mother, knowing all too well he was already way stronger than she could ever aspire to be.
'What kind of monster have I raised?' thought the Queen as she sat on her throne, unable to say anything back to her little bratty kid, who left the room right after spitting at her mother's feet.
