"GRRRRRRR OOO AAA!!"
The Chimera lets out a frightening thunderous roar. It was so loud that Xiao thought his eardrum exploded because of it.
Xiao quickly activates his Gamer Eyes to analyze the monster to prepare himself for what he was facing.
("Fire breath to the entire area in 1 sec.")
"What?!"
Xiao was shocked by the prediction message, which also caused him to jump further away from where he was.
The next instant, the Chimera lets out a hot melting fire from its lion mouth, burning everything around it to crisp, including the bushes that Xiao was hiding in early.
Although thanks to Xiao's Gamer Eyes, he manages to avoid being burned alive, because everything else got burned down, he was left face to face with the Chimera.
"Shit...."
Cold sweat falls from Xiao's face, his eyes and mouth were wide open as he got stared down by the monster standing in front of him.
(Chimera. Level 46. Strong against physical attack and fire magic. Weak to ice magic. Skills include fire breath, poison breath, lightning strike.....)
Xiao's Gamer Eyes kept providing information about the Chimera as Xiao was staring at it, but that wasn't Xiao's purpose.
Now that Xiao comes face to face with it, he was utterly frozen in fear by how big and menacing looking the Chimere was.
(I'm gonna die, I'm definitely gonna die.)
Even though Xiao has the undying skill, the mere sight of the Chimera has made him fear for his life.
Xiao's mind was already screaming to him to run away as his Gamer Eyes predicted the upcoming attack. Still, his body refused to move as it was paralyzed by fear, which delayed his reaction to dodge the attack.
Xiao ends up taking a frontal swipe from the Chimera, which sent him flying backwards and slammed to a large tree.
Though Xiao suffered a few broken ribs from the attack, it also gave him a wake-up call as he felt his blood running again.
"Dammit...this might be the most painful beat down that I ever had."
Xiao groaned as he slowly stood up.
Xiao took off his handguard that got shattered by the attack, he then pulled out his sword and assumed a combat stance.
"First Goblin, and now a Chimera? Just why the hell does God hate me so much?" Xiao curses his luck with sarcasm, also as a means to reduce the tension.
Xiao then took a deep breath to try to stay calm and begin constructing his plan.
(Its level is so much higher than mine, and by the look of its strong point, I don't think I can kill it.)
The Chimera's thick hide seemed impossible for Xiao to cut through. Plus, the monster's mobility was better than his.
There was no way that Xiao could even hurt the Chimera with his current weapon, an ordinary grade iron sword.
(The situation may seem impossible, but it also seems possible, and I always look at the bright side.)
Xiao already knows what to do. He looks at the Chimera, who gazes down at him while slowly approaching, leaving a trail of scratch marks on the ground like it was sharpening its claw.
The broken ribs that Xiao suffered early have almost healed thanks to his undying skill, Xiao was amazed by how quickly he recovered.
(Still have no idea how my undying skill works, but let's leave it to another time to find out, because right now....)
The moment the Chimera assumes a form, Xiao's Gamer Eyes immediately inform him about the upcoming attack.
(0.5 sec before Leaping Crush.)
"It's time to RUN!"
Xiao reflectively dodges the leap attack by jumping and sliding backwards to a fallen tree.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
The Chimera attack almost hit Xiao, but it got blocked by the tree Xiao was hiding under.
Without wasting any time, Xiao immediately stood up and started running. His decisive execution saves him as the tree quickly crushes down easily by how powerful the Chimera's attack.
Xiao kept running between trees to limit the Chimera movement and attack opportunities, which worked well as the Chimera kept getting its claw stuck between trees while chasing down Xiao.
(It's working, it's working! Let's keep up the momentum and escape from here!)
Just when Xiao was hopeful that his plan would work, his Gamer Eyes predicted another incoming attack.
(1 sec before Lightning Strike.)
Xiao looked back as he saw the one casting spell was the Goat head. Its body was charged with electrifying energy before shooting up to the sky, raining down to Xiao in the next instant.
Xiao barely dodges all the Lightning Strike, some of it broke the trees around Xiao, which it fell and blocked his path.
The burned smell of the trees and grasses filled the place. Xiao thanked his Gamer Eyes for keeping him safe until now while looking at a charcoal-coloured fallen tree, which was still a healthy brown tree before this.
Now that his original path got blocked, Xiao quickly searches for another escape route on both sides. On the other hand, the Chimera furiously mowed down the trees in front of it to get to Xiao.
(I still got this!)
Xiao holds on to his hope to escape as he immediately rushes toward his second escape route.
Xiao only managed to run in 5 steps before his Gamer Eyes warned him of another attack incoming. And this time, there were three attacks at once.
(2 sec before Fire Breath in front. 2 sec before Poison Mist on the left. 2 sec before Lightning Strike on the right.)
"WHAT THE HELL?!"
Three attacks at once from all directions have left Xiao shouted out in panic. Within 2 sec, he has to make a choice to brace for any one of the attacks.
(Both lightning and fire is a bad idea, I REALLY don't want to get burned into crisp, even when I have the undying skill as insurance.)
Deciding which attack Xiao will face straight on, he runs towards the left side, thinking that poison should be more bearable than the others.
And like how his eyes predicted, all attacks came out at once after 2 sec, which caused chaos around the area.
Xiao avoided both the Fire Breath and the Lightning Strike, the only attack he got hit on was the purple Poison Mist, which he thought was the weakest attack.
Xiao chooses poorly.
Few seconds after Xiao got in contact with the purple mist, he started to feel something, and that something rapidly turned into an immeasurable pain.
It was so painful that Xiao shouted out crazily, mucus, tears and drools were all over his face as he curled on the ground, subconsciously hugging himself to stop the pain.
The pain was like a million knives penetrating his body at once. Xiao felt that because the poison literally fried his nerves.
While Xiao was so occupied in his pain, the Chimera approaches him and immediately knocks him away like a ball, once again sending him flying.
Though Xiao still hasn't recovered from the poison, the attack has slightly distracted his mind from thinking other things than suffering in the poison's pain.
(Gonna....gonna get out of here...)
Xiao holds firm to his desire as he uses all his leftover strength to crawl away from the Chimera.
Xiao's undying skill was already working its magic. Still, it recovers too slowly as the Chimera leaps and lands right above Xiao, crushing his left arm in the process.
"SHIT!"
Xiao screams in pain as his left arm snapped and tore away from his body.
"EAT THIS!"
In reflex, Xiao uses his right hand to grip his iron sword and thrust it to the Chimera's lion body.
"DING!"
The sword bounces off the Chimaera's hide, producing a metal-like sound from it, almost telling Xiao that there is no way he can harm it.
"Shit! Physical attack resistance, it's like hitting a steel plate!"
Xiao curses the Chimaera's ability before it delivers another attack that rips off his right arm.
"AHHHHHHHH!"
Xiao screams in pain again. This time, he finally felt hopeless as there's nothing he can do to overturn the situation.
Xiao thought that the Chimera would eat him right away, but instead of that, it proceeded to tear off both of Xiao's leg.
"JUST KILL ME ALREADY! DAMN YOU!"
The pain of losing both arms and legs, plus the lingering poison in his body was too much for Xiao's brain to take in. He almost went insane by it as he angrily yells at the Chimera to kill him and end his misery already.
Unfortunately for Xiao, the Chimera was not done with Xiao yet. It hits him away, sending him rolling on the ground while leaving trails of blood.
(....this...bastard....it just....want to toy around....my body....goddamn...)
Xiao lifelessly stares at the Chimera. It runs towards him, then proceeds to hit him and send him rolling on the ground again.
(It hurts, it hurts, it hurts so much....)
Though Xiao was still in pain, his whole body was steaming out a cloud of black smoke, making his arms and legs slowly grow back while the old one slowly fades away on the ground.
But before Xiao was fully healed, the Chimera immediately delivers another attack, destroying other parts of his body.
It was like looking at a cat playing with its favorite ball, except that the cat was an abomination monster while the ball was a living human.
(I thought my undying skill was a blessing, but not being able to die while getting toyed around like this, it's a freaking curse.)
The humiliation and the pain have made Xiao give up all hope. There was nothing else he can do except accept his fate to eventually die here if possible.
Before Xiao shut his mind off, the last thing he could think of was his family, his life in his old world, his average daily life that was boring but peaceful.
(.....Mom...Dad.....Kang.....)
