(really short warm & fuzzy chapter)

---

"guess what today is" Kate said, coming up behind him with a small box held against her torso, just below her bare chest.

"You shouldn't have" Anton said, capping his grandfather's Pelikan fountain pen and placing it on top of the notebook he was writing in.

"I ordered this like a year ahead of time because I knew it'd take an eon to get here" she said, placing the box in front of him and sitting on top of the table to his right.

"Go ahead, open it, happy two fifty-ith" she said, smiling.

He did, and found a blue box with "Pelikan" written on it.

"aw honey" he said, taking it out of the cardboard box with the shipping information on it.

"I figured you'd like it" she smiled, "Oh and there's one more thing"

She hopped off the table and trotted over to a cabinet, making her small breasts jiggle.

No matter how many times he'd seen them jiggle and bounce, they always had that eye catching effect. Which to Anton was annoying for a long time, but he soon waived it off as subconscious admiration of her body, and went with the flow whenever it happened.

As an added perk, she always smiled when she caught him doing it, and more than once he'd caught her doing it on purpose.

She opened the cabinet up, then brought another larger cardboard box over to the table.

"I asked doctor Raine her opinion for what colors I should get you" She said, placing it near the middle as Anton opened up the Pelikan box, and found the pen inside, and took it out.

"A M one thousand in blue with a fine nib" Kate said, sitting back on top of the table.

Anton smiled. "thank you honey"

"I'm assuming that box is full of ink?" he asked.

She nodded. "I got the biggest bottles I could find from a bunch of brands Doctor Raine recommended, because I know how much of it you use" She smiled, pushing the box in front of him.

He opened the box, and found a bunch of inks from a smattering of brands.

"Well, get on with it" Kate chuckled.

"Before I ink it up, I want you to have this" Anton said, picking up his grandfather's Pelikan 400 and held it out to her.

"No" Kate said, shaking her head. "It's too important to you"

"I want you to have it, and stop using that shit tastic space pen" he chuckled.

"really? you're sure it's okay?" she asked.

he nodded, and cleared the table before choosing one of the inks from the box Kate had bought him as she watched curiously.

"iroshizuku shin-kai" he muttered, looking at the glass bottle curiously. "I've always wanted to try another Pilot ink, their regular blue black is very good" he said, uncapping the bottle and dipping the tip of the pen into the bottle up to the grip section, and twisting the rear of the pen to fill it.

She ripped off a paper towel from the holder in the middle of the table and handed it to him.

He used it to wipe off the grip section, not bothering to wipe off the nib as he always did, remarking it was simply "wasting ink", and touched the nib to paper.

"very smooth, but with feedback, and it has a very nice balance, though I'll have to get used to the size" he said, nodding.

"Figured it'd fit your massive meat paw a bit better" she chuckled.

"what are you writing?" she asked.

"A field manual about close quarters combat, I'm going to send the ledger to Triple A after having it digitized and see what he wants to add, then push it up the line" he said as he wrote, a skill that had taken him over a hundred years of practice to master.

"I always see you writing, but now I know what" she said, nodding. "how many field manuals have you written?" she asked.

"A hundred and two, this will be the hundred and third" he replied, nodding. "many of the manuals we learned from or memorized during our training are still being used, and they were out of date when we learned from them" Anton said.

"No one took up the responsibility, so I decided to contact a logistical specialist and propose to write new ones, using the experience of some from the augment corps" he continued.

"In fact, I am in need of someone to update the eff-emm concerning both using a sniper rifle and working with one in a squad scenario" Anton said, turning to her. "and I figured you'd be the perfect person to ask"

"oh honey, I would love to" she said, moving next to him and straddling his lap, putting her chest right into his face.

"but that's going to be after your other birthday present" she said, wrapping her arms around him and speaking right into his ear before leaning down and kissing his neck.

you're too damn sweet for me
