"What the fuck Christa" Jakob Schultz said as he stormed through the door of Dr.Raine's office & laboratory area.
"Jakob, I told you we would have this conversation at a later date." Dr.Raine said coming to her feet and putting her hands on her desktop.
"No we are having it now." He told her, calmly but firmly.
"I pulled the funding for the upgrades to the wolf because we can't afford it." Dr.Raine told him.
Alex "A3" Anderson stood in the corner waiting for instruction. Jakob hadn't registered he was there yet.
"The upgrades are to prevent reactor faults and it's fuel efficiency, which I don't think I need to tell you why that would save money." Jakob said. The Schattenwulf was at sea for years at a time, in constant motion, and always traveling.
"I want to give you the money, but the coalition cannot afford it." She said again, this time sterner.
"Oh? But our funding requests to make your brutes even stronger can fly?" he retorted, his voice full of scorn.
Dr.Raine sighed, and looked at Alex for a split second.
He whirled around, and stared at the 7' tall augment with hatred in his eyes.
He snapped his gaze back to Dr.Raine. "I need that funding, I've set things into motion that cannot be cancelled, and not having that money to put behind them will have massive consequences." He said slowly, seemingly placated.
'It will cause a rift in the relations between countries that I've worked so hard to cultivate." He added.
Dr.Raine sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose between her thumb and forefinger.

"I'll see what I can do." Dr. Raine sighed again, turning around, and sitting.
"With all of the recent events." She paused sighed again, and licked her lips. "The coalition is in a tough spot." She said.
"That" He groaned. "That doesn't mean you can just pull billions of dollars out of my pocket without consulting me first." Jakob said. "Christa, I love you, but when I wake up to a notice that I no longer have any of it, it puts a bad taste in my mouth."
"I get that." Dr.Raine said, deflated. "I just need you to understand I didn't do it because I wanted to." She scrubbed her face with the palms of her hands.
"With the whole PCID situation in recent history, and everyone struggling for money, my hand was forced." She said.
He nodded. "That may be so. I suppose you decided to take it from the Naval leg because-"
She cut him off. "Because I thought you could just postpone it." Dr.Raine said. "And I was wrong, and I'm sorry." She apologized, even though it felt insincere.
Jakob took a deep breath, and sat down in the chair in front of her desk.
"The tech for the navy at oh-three-seven can be postponed." He told her. "That can wait, it costs a lot and we're still a very long ways fro being able to implement it."
"Alex?" Dr. Raine looked to him where he stood in the corner.
"Ma'am?" He replied, unmoving.
"Send one of my children to thrity-seven and give them this." She said, uncapping a pen and writing out a fast note, telling them to hold off a project, and provided the project number. He nodded, and stepped to the edge of her desk.
A3 waited patiently as she wrote it out. She signed and initialed it, then slid it across the table with the pen for Jakob.
"Witness, please." She said.
He nodded, signed and initialed it at the bottom as well, and sat the pen back on the desk.
She picked it up, folded it in half, and put it into a sealed manila envelope, activating the tamper seal.
"Razorback codeword." She said to Alex before she handed it off.
He nodded, "understood." His voice was a rumble.
"what were you going to put it in?" She asked Jakob.
"A submarine, I thought you could also use it for an invisible child of yours." Jakob replied as A3 left.
"Eric." She nodded. "I think he would benefit from it, yes."
She stood up, and rounded the desk, sitting down in front of Jakob.
"I'm sorry I did that." She said. "I should have spoke to you."
"It happens." Jakob shrugged.
"I'm tired, really." She said.
"I understand" He said, standing, and hugging her.
"How is our son?" He asked her, still in an embrace.
"Good, he got assigned a new partner, and they seem to be getting along well together." she replied, hugging him back.
"Good, maybe they'll keep him safer." He said.
"I hope so. He's had a bout of bad luck recently." She replied.
I'm sure it's nothing he can't handle.
