Chapter 67

*GROOWL*

In front of us, a black Lesser Dragon was breathing flames across the whole plains. Two of the same creature has already been turned to corpse behind, so this will be the last dragon we need to kill before we can proceed.

I already finished my part leaving Jackson and Helena tag-teaming the last dragon alive. Dealing with both of them was not really necessary, but because this dragon was a fully grown one, killing it without any care will be wasteful for the high-grade materials it will drop.

If we leave the dragon alone with Helen, nothing but ash will be left when she is done with it. That is why Jackson is there to help not kill the dragon but instead, protect it from destruction.

“Ok, that’s done. Let Vaugh handle skinning this dragon while we burn the rest.”

“It’s fine if you just let me handle it alone.”

“We can’t have your fist blasts our precious ingredients up. Those horns can be used to create high-quality life-saving medicine while its nails and bones are good material for our blacksmiths to use. It’s literally throwing millions of gold if I did not stop you there.”

“Greedy kid.”

“What I am saying…”

It is their usual routine once again. I stay away from the trouble and busied myself taking the useful parts of the corpse carefully. Using my sword to cleanly open the carcass, I took the bones and place them on the dimensional bag I am bringing.

When I finished my business, they were also done with theirs. Jackson sluggishly picked up the package he left on a safe spot then we carry on to our journey.

“Isn’t it dangerous to have lesser dragons roaming near the city?”

“Yea, we need to report this when we reach Salix and go back to the capital.”

“The other day a nest of Drakes, now we have three lesser dragons roaming the area. It will require almost every army unit of Salix to clean up all the monster we have killed so far. If these beasts decide to invade later, we don’t have any choice but to have us, Guardians help to defend the city.”

Her observations were quite an overstatement, but I can see it happening. Maybe that is why Isaac has been adding more budget to the capital’s army.

Stolen novel; please report.

What is more worrying about this situation is that these monsters are just ten hours away from the new trading route we have drawn to trade between Salix City and Opidelhm. Fortunately, beasts such as these dragons have no sign of moving anytime soon.

The drakes we fought before might have a reason for inhabiting one of the forests we passed by, but there is no reason for lesser dragons to live in open plains like these. So we concluded as a group that these lizards were flying by when it attacked us.

“I hope this is the last time we see this type of creatures around here.”

“What are you worrying about Jack? IT’s better if we have some fun along the way.”

“Idiot. don’t forget why we are here in the first place. Besides, more evidence of stronger beasts residing here only means disaster.”

“That’s new for you. Did Jack become a scaredy-cat during the time I was gone, V?”

“No, he is right. It will be troublesome if the rest of our journey won’t be peaceful.”

“If you say so.”

Estimated, three more days left before we see the entrance of Salix City. We are behind by a day because of hindrances such as what just happened.

I told them we will be camping one time for the rest of the duration. The reason being the shortage of unread books I have brought during this trip. It was only enough for it to last ten days. My reason obviously frowned upon, yet they did not object.

It was a good sign that nothing else bothered us after we killed the lesser dragons. However, this was only true for most of the part because instead of beasts, sneaking pass by Travellers is annoying.

We can move and use the trading route for citizens of Salix, but Isaac told us not to give our presence to their Lord.

Disguising is an option if Helena will not be stubborn about wearing one. She will not stay quiet and keeps on telling us that our trip will be wasted if we do not kill some creatures along the way.

‘Too bad for her, there will be nothing to kill when we enter the Travellers hunting zone.’

I keep that by myself since I want to see her reaction when she sees that she is wasting our time by using the lesser conventional path. Jackson seems to have the same idea as me.

True to it, when we first saw a group of Travellers hunting every beast or rather, a pest in the area. Helena was pissed as hell that I saw her face age twice in a matter of seconds.

The most reasonable choice to do after seeing that is to just walk through quietly without any reason to look for any fight. But knowing Helena, one group, in particular, got the end of her fist and vanished along with the beast they have been killing.

Even when the beast here is pointless to kill to the point we can simply shrug them off like flies, her thirst for hitting things never dissipates.

“Do you really have to do that?”

“They will revive anyway. I might even get lucky and have someone strong among them.”

“That would be impossible. Those Travellers barely even survive in fighting a single monkey.”

“You never know…SMASH!”

Another group was reduced to dust by her attack. I never had a good impression of Travellers except for that one time, but looking at the scene, I cannot help but feel sorry for them.

They have my prayers.

When Helena was finally satisfied killing every living thing in the area, we can see the sky-scraping tree which means Salix City is almost within our sights.
