"See if the Chief starts charging his swing and immediately run back."
"Why are all the damage dealers so slow to retreat!!!"
"We have 4 casualties already!!!"
"Don't be the first to run away tanks. You're supposed to make sure the damage dealers are safe!!!"
The Chief Goblin was already in its second phase while slashing the players in frenzy. Their leader meanwhile keeps on giving orders and scolding his party members.
'It cannot be helped. If I were in his position, I might give up in this fight.'
I thought that this party was good, but it looks like there are only a few elite players among them. Once the Chief began rampaging around, the party just collapses under its barrage of slashes. Those that did not act within my expectation were either randoms who they just found, or it was their first time touching a Virtual Reality game.
Half of the party was already dead from the deadly attacks of the Chief Goblin. It may be the first boss I have seen, but it has some moves that are lethal against parties in its second phase. Its sweeping slash especially has killed at least ten people and still counting.
"There's no other choice... All damage dealers, go all in!"
The remaining players all dropped any type of defence and focused on connecting damage no matter how insignificant it was. Even the tanks forget to put their shields up and keep on bashing the Goblin Chief's leg instead.
The reason why they went on full attack mode because if they continue with their strategy, they will be annihilated first. This is their last gamble for the win.
"Good Job! The Goblin Chief is retreating. Don't let it run away. We're getting its loot after this bastard wiped out my party."
The Goblin Chief went deeper into the woods while the players continue to chase it. I also followed slowly to see them finish the Chief off.
...
When I finally caught up to them, the opposite happened. Instead of the Goblin Chief being surrounded, the players were the one who has their escape route blocked.
"Boss, where did all these goblins came from? I thought they left a while ago."
"Shut up! Just focus on the Chief. Dying would be worth it if we can get the exp and loot."

Some of the party members wanted to retreat after doubting their decision of chasing the boss into the forest, Although the voice of their leader was still the loudest even in this situation.
In the end, they went back to their desperate attacks to gain profit even after their death.
"Attack! We're getting paid after this, right boss? Boss?"
"Boss ran away!"
I saw four people, including their leader, ran the opposite way of where the fight was. Their action was so out of the blue that I almost got caught when they passed through near me.
The people who notice this late was left behind and gained the aggro of all monster in the area. Their leader was already out of their sight when all goblins pounced on them.
Now that there were a few players left, I was able to see a familiar face among them. The one being stabbed by one of the goblins was the man I met bullying Barbeque Rooster a while ago. His group should be one of the casualties earlier that is why he is the only one left among the rest being slaughtered.
With how strong the Goblin Chief is and how they are already outnumbered, to begin with, it did not take long before all remaining players to dropped on the ground and leave some items behind.
"Fuck you, Smiling Hound. I hope you die"
"You, lying bastard. I will make sure you delete your account."
"I will remember you. You think you can walk away from this."
Those were the dying shouts of those people.
A few seconds pass by and they were gone. the woods have become silent of any battle. The little goblin reinforcements withdraw in the scene leaving only the Goblin Chief to tend its wounds alone it.
They might have died but those players did a lot of damage especially the desperate charge in the end.
This may be a great opportunity to steal their hunt or not because they are already dead. I was alone with this badly wounded Goblin Chief. It would be stupid not to take this opportunity even it has some risks with it.
With that resolved, I aimed my bow at its eyes as accurately as possible. I do not know how many arrows it will take, but I will make sure that every arrow will be dealing with the highest damage as possible.

I was able to shoot two arrows before it cried in pain and searched for what was causing it.
Without any break, I keep on raining it with arrows even after it started charging at me. His cry seems to have attracted the other goblin who just left a while ago since I heard some rustling slowly approaching us.

Shooting the critical points of a moving target was difficult. I was able to hit its eyes less than I want to, but I have no time worrying about it. The Chief Goblin was only a meter away from me and it has already started charging its axe towards me.

[You have been hit by a lethal bow]
I was not able to dodge its attack fully. The axe slit my shoulder down to my chest letting the blood flow out of my body.
"AHH!"
The volume of blood that sprayed from the slash scared the living hell out of me. The pain the slash came with was so insignificant that I did not expect I would be bleeding like someone in a splatter gore film.
"Why the hell is the default setting for blood graphic this much!? I should change it later."
After that quick shock, I composed myself and start aiming again when I created some distance between both of us. I do not know why but holding my bow seems heavier than the usual. It may be because of my wound.
'Having fatal wounds may be more troublesome than I expected.'
I may have readied up longer than the usual, but it also took a while before the Chief recovered from his attack. I took this chance to aim the weak points more easily even with difficulty.

All of that was worth it because, after a few more shots, the Goblin Chief fell before it can swing its sword again.
