4. Father and Mother's Guidance -Lyonhall Arc

Jakari finally paid attention to that trash guild receptionist Celine and told her sternly, “No.” Then proceeded to shove another mouthful of fancy toast called cake into his mouth as he happily savor the delicious flavor.

Celine didn’t expect Jakari’s test for her to be this daunting and it hasn’t even been one hour yet! She refrained from getting upset and returned back to being calm. She was rationalizing to herself that if she can hold on for 1-hour, Jakari would treat her like a proper gentleman.

As Jakari was enjoying himself while Celine watched in silence, the bakery owner and his staff came by and asked, “Sir would you like some more cake?”

Total silence from Jakari as he ignored him. The bakery owner and his staff brought out several more cakes and placed them on the table. Jakari was feeling ecstatic about having more fancy toast! These bakery trash knew their place and were giving Jakari his due respect! He happily munched on the fancy toast cakes until he was full then he quickly left the bakery shop. He also luckily kept the one copper coin he had as they didn’t even take it.

Celine was about to go after him but a firm hand was placed on her shoulder. “You are you going to pay for all the cakes right?” asked the bakery owner. “I know your silver-ranked boyfriend has the money to pay for everything. All of these cakes added up will cost 550 coppers.”

Celine was stunned! That was at least 5 days worth of her pay! She only makes 2000 copper coins a month as a guild receptionist in Lyonhall. It is laughably lowly-paid compared to other guild receptionists compared to the other major guild branches but the cost of living in Lyonhall was very low but the quality of life was lower here as well. The economy in Lyonhall wasn’t great as it was populated by the weakest adventurers. Her monthly wage is often more than what wood-ranked or even some copper-ranked adventurers are able to make. She was about to yell out for Jakari to come back to pay back his debt but rationalizes that it wasn’t his fault as he probably didn’t even know how money even works. Celine sighed in her heart and took out two copper coins, one with a number 500 engraving and another with a number 50 engraving on it, and promptly gave it to the bakery owner before running after Jakari.

When Celine got out of the bakery, Jakari was nowhere to be seen. She saw one of Jakari minions and yelled, “where did that silver-ranked adventurer go!”

“Follow me! I will show you where he went!” smirked a wood-ranked young boy. He was planning to lead Celine to a completely different location where he and she will be completely alone together.

Celine saw that stupid smile on his face and refused to follow him.

The few other young snaggers saw him trying to betray their great master by stealing his woman. They all gang up on him to beat him down to the ground.

“You traitor! You can’t steal our great master woman!” yelled a young snagger as he kicked the traitor in the abdomen.

Another young snagger punched him in the face, “you broke the bro code!”

The poor traitor was on the ground bleeding in a small pool of his blood.

Celine was getting annoyed that they were wasting their time beating up the traitor instead of showing her where Jakari went, “young men can you please show me where he went?”

They stopped beating up the traitor and apologize profusely to Celine. “Follow us, we will show you where Jakari went!”

They ran deep into the open plains on the outskirt of Lyonhall. In the far distance, Jakari’s figure could be seen alongside many other young snaggers following him and some other curious people. The young snaggers wanted to become Jakari’s minions in getting stronger and obtaining women. Some of them wanted to invite Jakari to their adventuring party. A group of young wood-ranked and copper-ranked with a few bronze-ranked women wanted Jakari for themselves.

Jakari was getting extremely annoyed that all these trash kept following him around. He was now having doubts about his father’s 3 rules which were.

1. Ignore and avoid all interactions with trash.

2. Do not waste your time with trash or provoke them, keep a low profile to avoid pointless troubles at all times.

3. Use only a minimal amount of force or interactions as needed. Try not to use rule 3 as much as possible.

The unbreakable rules that Jakari had learned from his father since he was born. Why do all these trash keep making Jakari break his father’s rules!

“All of you trash! quit following me around!” ordered Jakari as he crossed his arms and looked at everyone fiercely.

The defiant look on Jakari’s face had frightened nearly everyone as he could easily defeat all of them in one blow if he wanted to. The young snaggers quickly scurried away. The adventurers wanting to recruit him ran off as well. All the young women interested in Jakari ran off except for two young women, Celine, and another copper-ranked woman.

Celine thought Jakari was talking about everyone but her. If only she knew that Jakari was referring to her as well. The other young woman was shaking in her legs as she struggled to remain in Jakari’s presence. Jakari was seething that the two pieces of trash remained despite his warning then he quickly remembered his father’s words and calmed down as he shouldn’t let trash make him that angry that easily. He turned around and continue walking towards the forest as if the two pieces of trash never existed.

Celine glared at the other young woman who was very ugly. “He told you to leave!” before running off to catch up to Jakari. But the young lady who was trembling in fear from earlier regained her resolve and so they both chased off after Jakari.

When the two of them caught up to the walking Jakari. Celine didn’t say anything but followed him as she was counting down the hour of her patience test with Jakari.

“Please let me join you!” pleaded the copper-ranked trash young lady. She was a solo adventurer but it wasn’t by choice. Her looks were hideous and none of the other adventurers wanted to associate with her or allow her to join their party. Even the guild staff at the guildhall treated this ugly adventurer poorly. It was common for everyone else to bully this poor young lady and she was doomed to be a solo-adventurer for life. She thought if she manages to get this mysterious silver-ranked adventurer to help her out, her life could improve for the better.

It was futile, Jakari completely erased their existence from his mind as continued forward. The two young ladies followed him anyways.

A wood-ranked fox monster came out of bushes and growled at Jakari and his party members. The copper-ranked lady and bronze-ranked Celine were preparing to fight the wood-ranked fox. It jumped at the closest target which was Jakari. The two ladies watched to see what incredible feats of talent he would display. The fox monster trash wanted to take a bite out of Jakari’s leg but Jakari quickly snatched it by the neck. The bones and muscles in the fox monster’s neck experienced a great crunch as Jakari choked it to death. Celine was charmed by his antics while the copper trash lady admired it greatly.

A X_X face could be seen on the fox as Jakari had secured dinner. The ladies watched Jakari silently as he proceeded to build a camp here.

“Wait Jakari. Why are you building a camp out here when you can simply rest in the inns in Lyonhall?” suggested Celine. Her great advice was promptly ignored by him. Celine decided to wait the full hour before speaking again as she quietly followed him around the forest.

The copper-ranked ugly trash girl was doing the same. She tried speaking with Jakari but it was as if she never existed. It was different from the others avoiding or bullying her. She felt a sense of calmness by being with Jakari and felt safe with him, she thought Jakari had accepted her as a member of the party.

When the hour passed, Celine asked, “you know you can rest in the inns in town right? I don’t mind paying for you, you know. Just pay me back with a proper date okay?” She then looked at the ugly lady, “when are you going to leave us alone!”

“He doesn’t seem to mind me being here, why are you being so angry at me? Do you like him in that kind of way? It seems like he doesn’t think that much of you either!”

A campfire was set up and Jakari was roasting the dead fox over the fire. When it was done cooking, Jakari proceeded to devour it without giving any of it to his other party members. The other two ladies fetched their own food and ate it silently with him.

Nightfall, Jakari was preparing to sleep in his bed of leaves while Celine was debating if she wanted to sleep outside on the cold dirt ground or go back home to her safe warm bed. In the end, Celine decided to sleep outdoors next to Jakari. The ugly lady had decided to spend the night outside with Jakari as well but a fair distance away.

Just when Jakari was going to close his eyes, he promptly remembered his mother’s wise words.

A flashback scene to when Jakari was only 3 years old.

Jakari’s mother was holding onto his little hands as she guided him through the city. It was an extremely rare occurrence for Jakari to see other people as he and his family often live in seclusion from the rest of society. His mother was also about 6-months pregnant with his little sister at the time.

“You see that woman with the fancy red dress and fancy red hair who is getting a lot of attention from the men around her. She is extremely ugly and only a 1 out of 10 in looks,” said Jakari’s mother.

Jakari’s mother kept pointing at many different beautiful women in the city and most of them had a rating of 0 and only a few had a rating of 1. His mother was extremely narcissistic about her own beauty and thinks of herself as a 10 and simply refuses to give any other woman a higher rating than 1. Thanks to his mother, Jakari’s perception of human beauty was extremely warped.

“Remember Jakari, You must find a wife who is a 10 in beauty. All those so-called pretty women that you saw are extremely ugly. They are all worthless.”

Little Jakari could only nod in agreement from his mother’s important guidance.

As Jakari's mother kept showing him and rating even more countless beauties that could turn heads as 0’s or 1’s. Jakari’s Father finally found them and yelled, “Stop this at once Kari! Our son is far too young to be thinking about women!”

“You’re wrong Jay!” retorted Jakari’s mother. “If I don’t teach him what is acceptable or not, he will never be able to find a perfect wife for himself!”

“He’s only 3 years old!” refuted Jakari’s father. He charged towards them, hoping to take back his son from his mother’s delusional guidance.

His mother didn’t yield and ran off with little Jakari in her arms. They spent the entire day chasing each other all over the city with Jakari’s mother pointing out even more beauties to rate as 0 for Jakari to know about.

Jakari’s parents were called Jay and Kari and that is the origin of his name. The union of his parents’ names Jay+Kari = Jakari.

Flashback scene end.

Jakari grew a cold sweat as he realized that ignoring the two female trash and letting them stay by his side would bring disastrous fury from his mother. He had to do something about them!
